Write 5 pages with APA style on The Act of Writing in the Age of Numbers. Numbers do not always necessarily indicate the relevance of an article and as a result, I agree with Marche that there is a need of being indifferent to the numbers in a text.

Numbers are not directly connected to the quality of an article but are mainly determined by the person, firm, or organization that has written the article. Characteristics such as the popularity of the person or organization, social status, career among other factors usually influence the numbers. This is because the majority of the people are not always rational and often base their decisions on emotions, their relationship with the author, and selfish personal reasons among other factors. Therefore it is possible to have an article that is of poor quality and that is not relevant to the subject of discussion attracting large numbers. For example, a post by a celebrity over social media may draw a lot of feedback from the followers yet it is irrelevant and at the same time, a post by an unpopular person may attract very few responses despite the fact that it may be of high quality.

Numbers usually portray an image that is not always true about the respective piece of work which is temporary and which lingers on the mind of the reader for the time the work is under discussion by the majority of the people. Once the period bypasses people will always tend to forget the numbers that were attached to the piece of writing and if the article was irrelevant they will forget almost everything about it. This is contrary to when a piece of writing is relevant since it will convey the truth regarding the subject area of the discussion regardless of the corresponding numbers. This is because truth has a tendency of remaining in the minds of people for a very long time and possibly over a lifetime. Therefore, there is a need for readers in this generation to be indifferent to the numbers in a text since there is a high possibility that they may be deceptive. For example, an email may attract a wide pool of responses and it may appear to be relevant for a short time, but if the content was irrelevant within a period of two months it will be forgotten. A good case is an email made by a popular politician about mere politics which does not hold any water which lasts for two days and it is forgotten completely.

Interview

Gathering facts about a client’s life span through the interview process is an important social work skill. This week, you practice this skill by interviewing an older adult using the questions in the Life Span Interview document available in this week’s resources. For this week’s Assignment you transform your interview notes into a narrative—that is, a life story—of the older adult you interviewed. You interweave within this narrative an analysis of the life story by applying person and the environment concepts to your understanding and interpretation of that story.By Day 7Submit a 3- to 5-page paper in which you provide a narrative analysis of the Life Span Interview you completed. The paper should:Provide a chronological history of the individual’s major life experiences.Identify specific biological, psychological and sociological influences that shaped the individual’s experience.Analyze the individual’s experiences by applying theory and concepts learned throughout both HBSE courses.Provide your reflection of the experience, both in interviewing the individual and analyzing their narrative.Explain what you learned and how you will apply this to future social work practice.Support your Assignment with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references.

paper on the topic Screening for Early detection of Colorectal Cancer.

Hi, need to submit a 1500 words paper on the topic Screening for Early detection of Colorectal Cancer. The United States Preventative Services Task Force recommends that every citizen aged between 50 and 75 be tested, thus prolonging the lives of 60 % of those affected. Those over this age can request a test. Detection can be done by testing stools for the presence of blood. This is done either using the chemical guaiac or by seeking for antibodies. Somewhat more invasive is a sigmoidoscopy, i.e. the lower bowel is examined using a flexible tube. A colonoscopy is a more extensive version of this, but searches the whole colon and may involve the removal of any suspicious polyps. This would normally be a follow up to other tests. In some cases a barium enema is used and the results x-rayed. In some cases a complete stool is sent for analysis. There is continued research on this topic.

Because this condition is so prevalent in American society as much as possible to cut its incidence and severity,y as a life threatening condition. This can be done be early detection so that any polyps can be removed before they become cancerous. Therefore it is necessary that all those aged 50 – 70 have regular checks – perhaps every two years. If this is to be achieved the subject will need publicity, education, central organization and funding. Another area that requires public education would be in the area of diet. Americans tend to consume a high fat, high dairy food diet. Something similar to the ‘5 a day’ campaign in the United Kingdom -, that is the promotion of the idea that everyone needs to eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day. ( NHS Choices , 5 a Day).&nbsp.
