Module 5: Nursing Informatics Practice Applications DQ: Care Delivery

Discussion Question:

Telehealth technology has extended the arms of traditional health care delivery into homes, clinics, and other environments outside the bricks and mortar of hospitals. Will the increased use of these telehealth technology tools be viewed as “de-humanizing” patient care or will they be viewed as a means to promote more contact with healthcare providers and new ways for people to “stay connected” (as online disease support groups), thereby creating better long-term disease management and patient satisfaction?

Module 4 Assignment: Nursing Informatics Administrative Applications: Precare and Care Support

Assignment Description:

Please complete ALL THREE of the Professional Development exercises.

• Develop a workflow analysis of the patient flow in the Emergency Department. This will include the time the patient enters the ED to the time they interact with the following:

o Receptionisto Triage Nurseo Assigned Nurseo Physiciano Lab and/or Imagingo Admit to floor or discharge to home

• Make sure to include SmartArt to delineate the different areas within the workflow and include a key.• Read the Following and Answer Questions

“In my experience consulting, I have seen several examples of organizations that incorporate the printing of paper reports, which replicate information that has been entered and is available with the electronic patient record. These reports are often reviewed, signed, and acted on instead of the electronic information. Despite the knowledge that the information contained in these reports was outdated the moment the report was printed and the very nature of using the report for workflow is an inefficient practice, this method of clinical workflow is prevalent in many hospitals across the United States. There is an underlying fear that drives the decision to mold a paper-based workflow around clinical technology. There is also a lack of the appropriate amount of integration that would otherwise allow this information to be available in an electronic form.”

• How does workflow analysis help practicing nurses?• Can we mold paper-based workflows into clinical information systems? Explain your answer.• Imagine that you are the INS charged with implementing the use of electronic records. What strategies could you use to promote a seamless transition?

The following specifications are required for this assignment:

  • Length: 500 – 750 words; answers must thoroughly address the questions in a clear, concise manner.
  • Structure: Include a title page and reference page in APA style. These do not count towards the minimum word count for this assignment.
  • References: Use the appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. Include at least two (2) scholarly sources to support your claims.

The Global Warming.

I will pay for the following article The Global Warming. The work is to be 10 pages with three to five sources, with in-text citations and a reference page. According to several theorists, there will be a trend in temperatures seen in many regions worldwide. According to them, there will be a warming of the lower range of temperatures from several areas, hence decreasing the entire region’s annual capacity of temperatures. These were once just claimed to be theories. However, temperature databases have proven otherwise. These trends are not visible by just observing day-to-day weather changes, but by a watch on the weather changes of a region over a much more extended period, or more easily referred to as climatic changes (Houghton, 2004).

The temperature ranges of the United States alone have shocked critics. In 1960, the average record high-temperature ratio to the average record lowest temperature of the entire United States was 0.77:1. By the 2000s, this ratio has jumped up to around 2.04:1. Another trend was observed that the record lower temperatures had increased significantly compared to the record higher temperatures. This shows a decrease in winter spells of weather in the entire United States by almost half, thus proving the theorists right. This trend is on the rise and will continue to do so till Global warming is controlled dramatically (Zebrowski, 2011).

Some might argue that due to these climatic changes and an increase in temperatures, there might be a decrease in precipitation in major areas worldwide. In some cases, this has been true. however, there is a general trend seen internationally of records showing a significant increase in precipitation in majority areas. Taking the precipitation data from the United States alone, there has been a general increase of nearly 5 percent in the United States’ precipitation records (Houghton, 2004).

This trend is not regular because the North-Western Regions have received a significant rise in massive precipitation levels of about 67%. On the other hand, the country’s South-Western regions have received an increase of hardly 9% in the ranks of precipitation. They have instead faced frequent droughts and a significant decrease of about 15% in average precipitation levels. This entire data has been presented by the United States Global Change Research Program.

Hand Soap Manufacturing.

Provide a 14 pages analysis while answering the following question: Hand Soap Manufacturing. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. Hand soaps are manufactured from oils or fats. They can also be made from the fatty acids that undergo reactions with the water-soluble bases which are inorganic. The principal sources of fats include. beef or mutton tallow. Likewise, the main sources of oils include. coconut or palm kernel substances (Wansbrough, 2013). These raw materials are usually subjected to pretreatment so as to eliminate impurities, and realize the desired color and odor. plus the performance features required in the finished products. The chemical processes in the production of soap are discussed in this research paper in further detail (Wansbrough, 2013).

Effective hand soap production entails the use of adequate energy. The production plants utilize both thermal and electrical energy in the production process. All the production units are equipped with steam generation broilers. The electrical energy is mostly utilized in operating the refrigeration, lighting, drives, and compressed air generation. The thermal energy is mostly used for the production of steam from the broilers. Electric energy is supplied through the national grid system. the production units also have diesel generators that supplement electrical power in case of power failure (Simmons & Appleton, 2007). Because hand soap production is an energy-intensive industry, there is a need to ensure energy efficiency, so as to reduce energy costs. The best way to achieve this energy efficiency goal is to implement appropriate energy management system in the hand soap manufacturing plant. This system entails a program that ensures continuous improvement in the energy efficiency process. For the system to be effective, the management of the production plant and the staff must be adequately trained in how it works. The commitment of all stakeholders towards energy efficiency also ensures success of the energy management&nbsp.system (Garzena and Marina, 2004).
