Defining Gender and Gender Being Socially Constructed:
The term gender refers to the socially constructed notion about human actions, behavior, and roles with respect to the concept of femininity and masculinity. It is always used to describe the attributes of men and women that are socially constructed. It differs from sex as sex describes attributes of women and men that are biologically determined. Individuals are always born male or female who then learn to be boys and girls and grow to be men and women. Therefore, people are always broadly categorized into men and women. Gender is a heavily socially constructed topic. It always has been, labeling people and grouping people into “classes’ ‘ based on their genitalia, not them as a person. The two main groups are , “masculine”, and “femine”, and in the eyes of society there is no inbetween. Even though there are social movements and new terms, the stigma still stays.

Defining Sex and Why Is Sex Socially Constructed:
The term sex and its meaning or what it defines has changed and evovoled a lot over historical times. It probably will continue evolving as time goes on, our normative right now of sex may not be our norm of sex in 5-10 years. Not only does it differ between time periods but also with different parts of the world or different cultures and how/what they associate the term sex with. Overall “sex” generaly defines what an indivudual is attracted to or whom/what they want to do sexaual activities with. Sex is a social construct that encompasses understandings of sexual body, behavor, desires and identity. Social teachings and expectations make people view sex as gender binary. Historically the norms in society surrounding sex were based on cultural contexts. It has many layers and it is not just comparing female vs male or same-sex vs heterosexual. All of these dimensions are transient and not fixed.

Privacy and the Public Figure

On Donald Trump’s personal blog, “Carolyn,” about Carolyn Kepcher, Donald Trump’s former apprentice on his Apprentice show, Trump wrote that Ms. Kepcher was terminated because “she loved her fame and she loved her celebrity on The Apprentice and it was affecting her work. She wasn’t doing her job like she used to or was capable of doing.” Mr. Trump told Ms. Kepcher, “in the nicest way possible…get a new job.” He did not say “you’re fired.” He replaced Ms. Kepcher with his daughter, Ivanka Trump. Was it ethical of Trump to broadcast this type of information to the general public? Compare the information found in each week’s People magazine, or Us Weekly. Is there a difference? Does it matter that the sources in those publications are journalists and here it is the original decision maker publicizing the basis of the decision? Does it matter that Ms. Kepcher voluntarily sought a position in the public eye? If so, what personal information would then be acceptable for Mr. Trump to share about Ms. Kepcher and what information would you consider too personal to be shared? Where should we, as a society, draw our legal and ethical lines? For instance, what about the extensive media coverage of speculation about Michael Jackson’s reputed drug use immediately after his death? Any ethical issues there? Is it the same as the Trump situation? If not, why?
