PERFORMANCE #4: RED SPEEDO Watching Red Speedo was a moment to cherish and I could tell that the show would beinteresting from the time I joined the audience. My instincts never lied as it was one of the best shows I have ever attended. Part of the ‘pool’ the designer integrated with real water as well as underwater lighting, was visible making an awesome scene. The other parts of the set appeared very clean and complete, creating a real sight of indoor swimming place. From the left part of the centre, I could see the unfinished backstage, which seemed to thwart the good work done on the set. However, this disappeared as soon as the performance kicked off. Everything about the show, including technical aspects and echo effects, was done to perfection. Chris Colucci’s expert design contained the echo throughout the performance, dispelling the feeling I ad that the echo would irritate me.

I must admit that the cast of four actors throughout the performance was really captivating. It presented how people behave and act in an appalling manner in the sight of money. Peter, the attorney, is convinced he can maneuver his way out of all ethical challenges. The show was brought close to realty by flawless use of physical effects, for example, the time when blood appears on Ray’s head and when he vomits on stage knitted the show more to realty. The fight choreography was a perfect connection with reality, particularly the punches.

However, I never enjoyed the whole show without some distraction. The theatre was extremely hot and this might have made me fall asleep if the show was to continue a little bit longer. Theatre exile is an inadequate space that requires more ventilation to curb the problem of overheating in the room. I was amazed by the fact that Red Speedo has no intermission and is a continuous show. Contrary to my thinking, the show was relatively shorter and all that I expected to happen never came true, for example, it was my imagination that Ray would accidentally drown Peter and then handles the consequences, which never happened. Sincerely, the show was too short and appeared to omit some parts.

Moreover, uncomfortable seats and uncontrolled walking in front of the audience were some of the few flaws that irritated me as an audience. Even though the usher and house manager did some good job, it is my feeling that they err by failing to organize properly how people sat to allow late comers to settle comfortably without causing any disturbance. Nonetheless, I truly enjoyed the show despite the fact that most parts of the show hardly applied to me. Ray emerged a very funny personality and played his role to my expectation. He took the figure of nice guy who is blatantly dumb. On the other hand, Peter emerges an overbearing lawyer who appears to be composed, especially when he became aware that Ray had deceived him. However, I must admit that Lydia was a let down on how she played her role. She executed her part, displaying little or no emotions. She appeared like she only focused on getting her part done, which to me tainted the credibility of the show. Although most of the show parts were enjoyable, some portions seemed quite flat and boring.

Why is it so difficult to assess and evaluate the likelihood of terrorist attacks, both within the United States and throughout the world?Terrorism has become a global issue in the 21st century and every government is making efforts to make their states resilient to the terrorist attacks and terrorist activities in their premises. Terrorism can be defined as “a method of violence or military strategy that is used sometimes by states but especially by non-state actors”. George Friedman, a military analyst, describes terrorism as “an attempt to defeat an enemy by striking directly against its general population and thereby creating sense of terror” (Duncan et al 310).

The 9 September terrorist attacks in the United States made the government and counter-terrorist organizations realize the urgent and efficient need of counter-terrorist tactics and methodologies for the protection of their public, leadership and infrastructure. Governments of countries all across the world are emerging with modern and effectual strategies. However, certain hindrances are faced during the process of terrorist risk assessment and evaluation. The paper highlights such problems.

Terrorists have used a variety of tactics over a period of time to bring about fear in the minds of general public or any particular group of people. Hence, it would be safe to say that terrorists aim to cause a psychological impact significantly. Common tactics employed by terrorists are bombings, biological and chemical attacks, environmental attacks such as hazardous waste disposal and other tactics such as hijacking, kidnapping, sabotage and arson (Duncan et al 313). International counterterrorism efforts include not only state-to-state co-operation but also multilateral co-ordination such as through Interpol.

However, it has been observed that Interpol, international police agency, effectiveness has been restricted due to particular reasons. It is poorly funded and the quantity of staff is also not enough limiting its effectiveness. Moreover, Interpol is not allowed to involve in political issues (Duncan et al 315). The separation of Interpol from politics makes counterterrorism a difficult procedure as most of the terrorist attacks are related to political issues and circumstances. The European Union also developed a similarly acting agency called as Europol.

Although Europol works effectively in controlling drugs and human trafficking, the counterterrorism efforts are still lagging behind. Europol requires political, technical and financial enhancement and development to tackle terrorist organizations or activities (Duncan et al 315). One of the major problems faced by the Department of Homeland Security United States is the assessment of the terrorist target locations. Although, certain areas of United States are considered high risk areas, the DHS is unsure of what specific areas the terrorists will attack next (Bullock et al 153).

The efforts against terrorism are majorly hindered because of the financial, technical or political set-backs. United States of America has emerged as one of the most vigilant and active states working against terrorism. It is also one of those states which are at high risk for terrorist attacks. United States of America has several security and counter-terrorist agencies and organizations working in aspects of terrorist risk assessment, evaluation and management. However, factors such as difficulty in predicting the target location of terrorist attacks, low funded agencies or lack of proper staff and technical support acts as short-comings in the effectiveness of the counter-terrorist efforts.

Instead, these terms are used to describe two different types of articles with different types of criteria. Although these are two different sets of criteria, it is possible for an article to be both scholarly and peer-reviewed. As you mentioned above, a scholarly article is one in which a researcher, or academic, shares and presents the findings that they noted while conducting research. Although conducted by a professional, this does not classify the article as peer reviewed (GCU, 2022). In order to become a peer-reviewed article, this scholarly article must take another step through the peer-review process.
