Reply to:Cisgender, transgender, nonbinary, or gender fluid. It has become more common in today’s society to hear that someone is gender fluid or cisgender. Cisgender means that the individual feels comfortable with the gender they were assigned at birth. Whereas gender-fluid refers to someone who identifies as both or neither gender (Comer & Comer 2021). With not being sure of what gender someone identifies as or coming to terms with it may come gender dysphoria, which brings about strong distress about the gender they were assigned at birth. To treat this, hormone blockers can be used as early as 11 years of age. Another way to treat this is gender reassignment surgery, that allows the person to begin to take the form that is more comfortable for the individual.
