week4 Treatment of Schizophrenia and Depression

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the required chapters from the text and review the required articles for this week.Taking on the role of the expert in the treatment of schizophrenia or depression, you will prepare a presentation for a group of physicians who are seeking your opinion on the treatment of patients with these disorders. For this interactive assignment you will create and upload a 5- to10-slide PowerPoint presentation as well as a 5 minute screencast of the presentation to share with your peers. For this presentation, select either schizophrenia or depression as the basis for your presentation. Begin by creating your PowerPoint presentation. In the presentation, include information which explains the neurotransmitter theory behind the disorder and how the drugs used to treat the disorder affect those neurotransmitter systems.  Evaluate the risk and benefits of treating a patient with the most common type of medication and of not using drugs to treat the patient. In your evaluation, examine issues such as the rate of success with the most common drugs used as well as the incidence of side effects with these same drugs, including mortality associated with drug use. Then consider not using medications to treat the disorder. Take into account the natural course of the illness, the rate of spontaneous recovery, and the rate of mortality when untreated. You may also incorporate the use of other modes of treatment into your evaluation.Your PowerPoint must include your presenter notes in the notes field to indicate what you intend to say during the screencast and well-chosen images to enhance the understanding of your audience. Remember that your screencast will be a maximum of 5 minutes, and use your speaker notes to ensure that you will be able to present your materials within this time limit. (You may accessGarr Reynolds’s Slide Tips (Links to an external site.)for additional assistance in creating an effective visual presentation.) Once you have created your PowerPoint, you will create a screencast presentation of up to 5 minutes in length using any screencasting software you choose. (Quick-Start Guides are available forScreencast-O-Matic (Links to an external site.)for your convenience.) Attach your PowerPoint file to your intial post and include the URL for your screencast in the body of the post before submitting it.

Social Work Newspaper Article

Assignment 1: Journal and Newspaper Article Assignment (100 points)Competency 5 & Competency 4Select and critique two articles from one of the professional social work journals (for example, Social Work, Families in Society, Health and Social Work, Social Service Review) and one article from the newspaper. Students will identify a social policy at the local, state, or federal level that impacts well-being, service delivery, and access to social service in both articles as it relates to oppressed and disadvantaged populations. The articles should relate to a specific social welfare law, policy, program and/or service and to a population group at risk for discrimination, oppression, economic deprivation, racism, environmental injustice, physical disability, etc.Students are expected to utilize critical thinking to understand how social welfare and economic policies impact the delivery of and access to social services for all people. The articles from the journals should be at least four pages in length. Provide the following information about the journal article and newspaper article that you have selected using the following format.Using Critical thinking skills, answer the following questions:1. The mainpurposeof this article is ____________________________________.(State as accurately as possible the author’s purpose for writing the article.)2. The keyquestionthat the author is addressing is _________________________.(Figure out the key question in the mind of the author when she/hewrote the article.)3. The most importantinformationin this article is _________________________.(Figure out the facts, experiences, practice-informed practice and research-informed researchdata the author is using to support her/his conclusions.)4. The maininferences/conclusions in this article are _______________________.(Identify the key conclusions the author comes to and presents in the article.)5. The keyconcept(s) we need to understand in this article is (are)_____________________. By these concepts the author means_____________________. (Figure out the most important ideas you would haveto understand in order to understand the author’s line of reasoning.)6. The mainassumption(s) underlying the author’s thinking is (are)_____________________. (Figure out what the author is taking for granted[that might be questioned.])7. a). If we take this line of reasoning seriously, the implications are_____________________. (What consequences are likely to follow if peopletake the author’s line of reasoning seriously?)b). If we fail to take this line of reasoning seriously, theimplicationsare_____________________. (What consequences are likely to follow if people ignore the author’s reasoning?)8. The mainpoint(s) of viewpresented in this article is (are) ______________________. (What is the author looking at, and how is she/he seeing it?).9. Save a copy of the article and newspaper and upload with your assignment or if you have difficulty bring a copy of the article by my office. The paper must be typed, double-spaced, and at least three pages in length. You will not be downgraded for more than three pages. The paper must be written in APA style.

Reliability and Validity Worksheet/LOOK AT THE ATTACHMENT I POSTEDInstrument ReliabilityA reliable instrument is one that is consistent in what it measures. If, for example, an individual scores highly on the first administration of a test and if the test is reliable, he or she should score highly on a second administration.Imagine that you are conducting a study for which you must develop a test in mathematics for 7th-grade students. You develop a 30-point test and distribute it to a class of 12, 7th-grade students. You then administer the test again one month later to the day. The scores of the students on the two administrations of the test are listed below. Use Microsoft® Excel® or IBM® SPSS® to create a scatterplot with the provided scores, formatted as shown in the example graph. What observations can you make about the reliability of this test? Explain.30-POINT TEST                                     30-POINT TEST(FIRST ADMINISTRATION)                    (SECOND ADMINISTRATION)A                         17                                                       15_______________B                         22                                                       18_______________C                         25                                                       21_______________D                         12                                                       15_______________E                           7                                                       14_______________F                         28                                                       27_______________G                         27                                                       24_______________H                           8                                                         5_______________I                          21                                                       25_______________J                         24                                                       21_______________K                         27                                                       27_______________L                         21                                                       19_______________What Kind of Validity Evidence: Content-Related, Criterion-Related or Construct-Related?A valid instrument is one that measures what it says it measures. Validity depends on the amount and type of evidence there is to support one’s interpretations concerning data that has been collected. This week, you discussed three kinds of evidence that can be collected regarding validity: content-related, criterion-related, and construct-related evidence. Each question below represents one of these three evidence types. In the space provided, write content if the question refers to content-related evidence, criterion if the question related to criterion-related evidence, and construct if the question refers to construct-related evidence of validity.1.     How strong is the relationship between the students’ scores obtained using this instrument and their teacher’s rating of their ability?2.     How adequately do the questions in the instrument represent that which is being measured?3.     Do the items that the instrument contains logically reflect that which is being measured?4.     Are there a variety of different types of evidence (test scores, teacher ratings, correlations, etc.) that all measure this variable?5.     How well do the scores obtained using this instrument predict future performance?6.     Is the format of the instrument appropriate?

See Attachment:Due Thursday 02/24/2022Throughout the course, the students will be reading David Mathis’ Habits of Grace: Enjoying Jesus Through the Spiritual Disciplines. This book outlines different spiritual disciplines (called habits) that foster spiritual growth. As they read the book, the students will attempt to participate in 6 of these spiritual disciplines, with at least one from each of the main categories described in the book (Word, Prayer, and Fellowship). My 6 disciplines are*Prayer*Meditation*Fasting*Worship*Fellowship*Journaling
