In the two readings by Atul Gawande and Lorrie Moore’s short story, “People Like Us Are the Only People Here,†personal health narratives are used to make broader arguments. For example, Gawande uses the experiences of people he grew up with to illustrate the impact of tying health insurance to employment.
In the first part of this paper, try to follow Gawande or Moore by using a personal story involving health to make an argument. This need not be revolutionary. The argument you might make could be as simple as “wash your hands.†The important thing is that you use logos, ethos (in this case, it probably comes from your experience as or with a patient, or more broadly, as a person with a body), or pathos to try make a statement about health.
The purpose of the bulk of this assignment is for you to mirror the method of the writers we’ve read so far, applying the ideas from What’s Your Source. In the final paragraph, using MLA citation, reflect specifically on the way the piece you chose as a model served to help you develop your essay.
Please include a works cited page and follow MLA formatting.
Don’t make this to good where it looks like I didn’t write it. I am a 40 year old married man so keep that in mind when writing this paper. There is a sample paper from the teacher in your uploads to get an idea of what she is looking for. Thank you, by the way this is only my second quarter in college. Just so you have an idea of what your working with.
