Hence, I determined that it would be interesting to examine the impact of electronic media on social attitudes. Traditional media sources provided society with unbiased information about newsworthy events that stated simply facts (rather than in-depth editorials) which allowed society to make realistic judgments and alter their opinion based on factual data. However, today, consumers are accessing various social media posting and blogs which distort making logical determinations in a social context. It is necessary, for social stability, for consumers to be sensible when forming attitudes related to electronic media content otherwise we, as a society, could be preposterous in making any relevant and satisfactory social change.

I first became interested in this topic when I came across several news articles about the alleged unethical behaviors of the multi-national retailer Abercrombie & Fitch. This company positions itself in its highly saturated competitive market as a retailer that is exclusive, offering high-quality products to consumer segments that are driven to make purchases based on vanity-inspired characteristics related to youth markets. One example includes the company selling pre-teen undergarments with phrases such as “Eye Candy”. Most recently, the CEO of the company publicly stated, sternly, that the company did not want heavy-set people wearing its clothing as it could serve to cheapen the brand image, which angered many different special interest groups and general society members internationally.

After looking through blogs associated with this news content, I came to quickly realize that many in society were acting illogically using psychologically inappropriate responses to the electronic information about the company rather than making practical judgments about the tangible facts of the business strategy. I further examined reputable and credible electronic news organizations that were reporting on these allegations of unethical behavior and noticed that consumer sentiment was allowed to be posted at the end of the article electronically.

These men meet a wounded sergeant who has been sent back to be treated and proceed to ask him what is happening at the front and to see if he has any news. The bleeding sergeant tells them the latest news, and in between also mentions what Macbeth has been up to.

Macbeth has succeeded in killing a rebel, after hounding him bravely and seeking him out. Macbeth is characterized as a brave man by the sergeant for having hunted down Macdonwald, the rebel: “For brave Macbeth—well he deserves that name—” (Line 19, Scene II), what is more Macbeth does not shirk from bloodshed nor is he loath to get his hands bloodied as is clear from the way he executed Macdonwald or how he “fix’d [Macdonwald’s] head upon our battlement” (Line 26, Scene II).

Duncan interjects with praise about how brave and noble Macbeth is “O valiant cousin! Worthy gentleman!” (Line 27, Scene II). In Scene 5, Lady Macbeth in her soliloquy talks about her plan to murder King Duncan. It is clear that she wants to stop feeling any compassion, and she wants to be stripped off any mercy that she may possess so that she can help her husband get the throne of Scotland. She talks about a raven, and the raven being the mythological symbol of death clearly shows her intentions to kill Duncan.

According to Lady Macbeth, the raven who is croaking about the death of Duncan is hoarse, which clearly shows just how determined she is that Duncan must die. She wants to kill him, and she wants none of her femininity to come in the way of her ambition. This depicts how she is deeply pondering about murdering the king.

On entering the castle, Duncan remarks at the pleasantness of the air which is seconded by Banquo. He talks about the martlet, a kind of swallow that lives in the castle because it likes to build its nests high up. This is in reference to Duncan who accompanies Macbeth and considers him a friend, and yet does not aim for the kingship himself.

Duncan is content, like the martlet, to live high up without any rank. He is unsuspecting of the motivations of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and does not see any unpleasantness around him, just like the swallows that are flying around oblivious to the danger to them. Even though he has made his home in the castle, in a manner of speaking, he does not have any ambition and he does not seek to enthrone himself.

The guilt that Lisa feels at the end of the play is something that stems from the fact that she has not matured emotionally. The actions that she takes at various points in the play have no rational explanation. This fact is also the result of her dissociation from the real world where events follow a more or less rational course. The union of the grotesque and the real in the life of Lisa is another aspect of the play that is interesting and significant, dramatically. The grotesque events that are related in the play are a part of the life of Lisa. They are an everyday reality for her and this results in a disturbing atmosphere in the play. The grotesque becomes the norm for Lisa when she arranges prey for her husband. The grotesque becoming the norm points to the development of the person. The abnormal childhood that was led by Lisa, where she was deprived of attention on the part of her mother.
