the tale of kieu

I need some assistance with these assignment. the tale of kieu Thank you in advance for the help! Du presents his story as immoral since Kieu, the main character, chose to challenge the norms and traditions of a male dominated society, especially on how a woman should conduct herself, in Du’s society. I say this because she is portrayed as someone who decided to go against his father’s will, broke her promise to marry her lover, Kim, and adopted prostitution as a means of earning a living. Kieu’s actions and behaviors should not be perceived as mere immoral activities since some sense of morality can be drawn from her actions. This paper, therefore, challenges the author’s presentation of this Vietnamese masterpiece as an immoral story and presents its moral position.

According to morality and Confucian values, Kieu’s actions and behaviors are immoral. I say this because the author does not attempt to challenge the barriers created by Confucian values, in addressing the plight of women in Vietnamese society. Du’s story mainly focuses on how a virtuous woman should act morally, decisively, and liberally to protect the image of her family and herself. However, the ideas Du presents, in this poem, defy the traditional patriarchal perception of a woman frailty (Du 142). The author believes that their society is bound by universal virtues, which are admired by all societies. However, he fails to recognize that such virtuous characters do not necessarily appear relevant for all his audience and society. This is because moral and virtue have different meanings when defined within a certain context. This is the reason why Kieu’s actions are depicted as immoral when she decides to disobey her parents, adopt prostitution, and fail to marry Kim. It is necessary to note that moral and Confucian values are commonly used to control situations. There are some occasions where people have differed on what moral rights to use when dealing with certain situations. This is, therefore, an indication that morals are not discrete since they change from place to place, and from time to time. For instance, Kieu wanted some changes, in her life, and this made her go against the norms and traditions of a male dominated society. In Du’s society, it was a taboo for women to love or engage in any sexual activity, with any man, before marriage. Therefore, according to the author, Kieu’s behavior is immoral when she chose to love Kim against her parent’s permission (Du 123). However, readers learn that Kieu promised to remain faithful and chaste to Kim until they get married. The author himself confirms that Kieu managed to keep herself safe, even in the face of Kim’s tempting lust. This proves that Kieu’s behavior is morally right because she manages to keep the Confucian value of women’s virginity intact (Du 132), and remain loyal to her father. Maintaining chastity intact is not a sign of abiding by the moral codes of a Vietnamese society, but it is a sign of freedom of living in accordance to what she thinks is right. I think that Kieu is not a strict moralist because she chose to go against her parent’s wish to love Kim. Additionally, she chose to work as a prostitute just to provide for his brother and father. She realized that the societal norms can sometimes inconvenience people, especially women, and the only way to survive is to violate such acknowledged morals. Kieu also defied Confucian values when she failed to marry Kim.

write an article on technological convergence Paper must be at least 500 words.

Hi, I am looking for someone to write an article on technological convergence Paper must be at least 500 words. Please, no plagiarized work! Technological Convergence Many technologies that were initially designed to perform different tasks are increasingly being merged together to come up with a synergistic multi-use functionalities. One of the best examples of technological convergence is on mobile phone technology. This is a brief discussion of technological convergence with reference to my favorite iPhone 4 S cellphone.

IPhone 4 S Cellphone Features

Certainly, iPhone 4 S cellphone has some of the most advanced features that can be found on a hand held communication device. The primary reason why I bought this phone is its simplicity despite having many features. IPhone 4 S has a large screen with retina display technology makes it possible to view a lot of information on a single display without compromising the quality. The accelerator technology keeps everything on the screen on an upright position even when the phone changes orientation. The touch screen technology makes it possible to have a large screen with inbuilt touch keypad.

The best technology is I Cloud application. I Cloud technology enable the user to communicate with other devices such as computers, I Pads, PDAs remotely without connecting to them via cable connections. For instance, I usually send or retrieve music and video files from my computer without using the USB cable. I use my iPhone 4 S to play video games that can project to HDTV by use of Air Play technology. With the 3G internet technology, I can move files and videos through the internet at a speed of 10 Mbps.

The most intelligent feature is the Siri technology that makes it possible to communicate verbally with the phone. I talk and command the IPhone just as I would to a human being. With its two core processors in the A5 microchip, it is the fastest phone that I have ever used especially at gaming.

Certainly, iPhone 4 S is one of the best examples of technological convergence. Most of the features have been made possible through combination of different technologies to come up with a more powerful and useful feature. For example, the siri technology encompasses voice recognition and computer processing abilities to understand commands and respond appropriately. The high-speed data transfer via internet has been made possible by convergence of different data transfer technologies such as HSDPA, WCDMA, GPRS, and HSUPA. The phone is able to achieve high-speed data transfer rate by use of one of the technologies or a combination of two or more technologies. For instance, the phone automatically switches seamlessly from one data transfer format to another when the internet signal fluctuates. This way, it is able to maintain high stability when transferring data.

The phone can perform tasks previously dedicated for computers. For example, the iPhone can edit pdf, .doc, docx, and rtf documents as well as edit photos and videos. Documents can then be printed remotely using the cloud-printing feature. This has been made possible by convergence of several computer technologies into a hand held communication device. Finally, the video chat technology is a technological convergence of video, audio, data transfer, and other technologies. As more innovations come up, we expect more technological convergence to bring about more synergistic devices.

Compose a 1000 words assignment on the westward expansion. Needs to be plagiarism free! In the West, slavery was abolished. The North moved for the emancipation of the slaves in compliance with the 1787 Constitutional Convention’s mandate. On the other, the South continued to hold on their slaves. The slaves were used to farm the lands. The invention of the cotton gin machine in the 1790s, which increase cotton yield 50 times faster than a person, was one of the reasons the North American no longer needed the slaves. The cotton was invented by Eli Whiney. He was a Northerner. Thus, the North benefited much from the cotton gin’s increase in the production of cotton yield. On the other hand, the South still continued to rely on the slaves to pick and pack the cotton raw materials. Consequently, the Southerners would surely miss the slaves’ forced labor because it would be cheap to main a slave than to pay a free person to pick the cotton products from the cotton plantations.

The Southerners felt that the “mountains of ‘white gold’ that began flowing out of the South to textile factories in Great Britain and New England crushed any hope of voluntary abolition” (Mooney 51). The Southerners needed the slaves because they did not have the cotton gin to process the cotton from the cotton plantations. Specifically, “Cotton Production in the American South soared from 461,110 bales in 1817 to 4.8 million bales in (each weighed 500 pounds) 1860, a more than tenfold jump” (Mooney 51).

To the South, the slaves were very precious because the slave owners did not find the slaves’ job of picking and process cotton products very glorifying. “Slavery, far from gradually disappearing, spread westward across the continent and became increasingly entrenched in American life” (Mooney 51). In 1819, Missouri was the first state created out of the Louisiana Purchase.

Conflicts have been defined in a numerous way but one common theme that runs across its various meanings is the notion of the clash, of opposition, of the fight, of struggle. Still fresh in my memory is one conflict that I have been through prior to my coming to college. When everybody was busy and frantic about what they were going to do right after their secondary education, I was already certain that I would be pursuing college. In fact, I was really resolute in pursuing a degree. Fortunately for me, my parents and I were basically in agreement regarding this matter. However, that was where we only meet.

As I look into my future and try to imagine what I would someday become I have realized that what I want is to be in the field of sciences and to be more particular in the field of Physics. Or if not Physics then I would love to do Philosophy. Although, to be honest, I really do not know what I would be doing right after finishing Physics or Philosophy but still, I have set my heart on it. Unfortunately, my mother has a different plan. She wants me to enter in Hotel and Restaurant Management or Nursing because that is the trend and those two fields are in demand. Deep in my heart, I know that she is correct. And that what she is trying to do is that she is opening to me other possibilities or channels that I may not be seeing or taking notice of.

But you see I cannot just throw away the things that really catch my fancy, the stuff that I love to do, the things that I would like to learn. Besides, being young, I am still being idealistic. I have this notion that in college the rudiments of textbooks should no longer burden one. But one rather should already see the beauty of knowledge itself. So, I often tell myself in college, I will be pursuing my interests. But you see reality checks. I found myself in a situation wherein my self-interests conflict with that of my mother. Though I see it as a kind of conflict that will lead to a positive solution but still I know at the same time that I cannot have both.&nbsp.
