Expanded Outline with Completed Room for Community Center Proposal

As we approach the end of the course, it is time start putting all the pieces together.  Before starting this week’s assignment, review the instructions for the final project found in week five. Using the Community Center Proposal Template and the outline you created in week three, you will complete the following steps:

  • Write the introduction to your proposal (One paragraph)
  • Add the three physical development activities that you created in week two into the appropriate room in the template. Make sure to incorporate any instructor feedback.
  • Add the cognitive development activity and toy that you created in week three into the appropriate room in the template.  Make sure to incorporate any instructor feedback
  • Select the room for which you have done the least amount of work thus far, and complete all the required elements in that room by addressing the prompts in the template.
  • Start your reference page with any resources you have used thus far.

At this point, your proposal should be approximately 35-40% completed.  During the final week of the course, you will finish all the rooms of the Community Child Development Center Proposal, write your conclusion, and complete your reference page.  You may work ahead and complete more sections or rooms during week four if you wish to receive feedback from your instructor, but you are required to complete, at minimum, the five elements listed above.

The Expanded Outline

  • Must be four to five double-spaced pages in length APA format (not including title and references pages) Must include a separate title page with the following:
  • Must use at least one scholarly source in addition to the course text.

Explain relationship between epistemological and ontological assumptions and research approaches

Discussion: Philosophy of Science

How does the lens from which you view the world shape your approach to research inquiry? Why is it important as a scholar-practitioner engaged in research to acknowledge your worldview?

Reflect on how your assumptions about the acquisition of truth and the nature of the world influence your approach to the research process.

Identify an area of interest for a possible research topic. As you read about the different philosophical orientations in this week’s readings, consider if one of these orientations most closely aligns with your worldview and a particular approach to research.

Post a brief description of your topic of research interest. Next, state the philosophical orientation that reflects your worldview and explain the epistemological and ontological assumptions of this orientation. Then, explain how these assumptions lend themselves to one or more research approaches.

Be sure to support your Main Issue Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.

  • Describe topic of personal research interest – Racism
  • Explain epistemological and ontological assumptions of philosophical orientations
  • Explain relationship between epistemological and ontological assumptions and research approaches

Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling on this week’s discussion:

1. Charles Barkley famously said “I’m not a role model.”  Given what we learned in this module on virtue ethics, do you think that it is fair for a major sports star to say that?  Why or why not?

2. Select ONE of the virtues listed on pages 20-25 of the module.  Explain why it is a virtue, according to Aristotle, and what the corresponding vices are.  Then, explain how you might OBTAIN this virtue and raise any challenges you to its place on the list of virtues.

3. Explain the three conditions (pages 15-19 of the Module presentation) and how they combine to make someone virtuous.

4. The Greeks believed that arête (EXCELLENCE) is to be as good as possible at many things.  We tend to be the very focused and specialized, and we often specialize to the detriment of overall knowledge and ability.  Who is right about how to live, and why do think so?
