Do you feel that learning, from the approach of a human’s potential, rather than from a purely content driven (you need to know this) perspective, is a viable way to approach investigating “how we learn”? Why or why not?

Prior to engaging in this discussion, please read chapters five and six in your e-book and review the Instructor Guidance. If your last name begins with A-M you will discuss the theory of constructivism and its relationship to learning. If your last name begins with N-Z, you will discuss humanism and its relationship to learning psychology.

•Constructivists suggest that a person’s reality is unique from others and thus, effects what, how, and how effective knowledge is acquired. This is suggested to be affected by numerous variables such as culture, past experiences, and past knowledge.

•Humanism posits a purposefully person-centered approach to learning, that includes personal growth, focus on self-development, and personal needs.

Consider the following as you discuss:

•Do you feel that learning, from the approach of a human’s potential, rather than from a purely content driven (you need to know this) perspective, is a viable way to approach investigating “how we learn”? Why or why not?

•Waldorf Education posits that it is a school founded on humanism ideologies. After reading the content, do you agree with their position? Would this type of education work with adults (yourself)?

•Describe a personal example of experiential learning that you have experienced.

•How can the areas of motivation and needs potentially increase effective learning, as suggested by humanistic ideologies?

•How do the variables of organismic integration theory (OIT) reflect the humanistic model?

Write at least a 300-word, well-developed and well-written response.  Use APA Formatting Guide to create accurate citations and documentation to give credit for any resource material used in your response. Your assignment is due September 24 in class.

Step 1:

  1. Visit the TeenBuzz website at www.teenbuzz.org (opens in a new window). This site offers free ringtones that most adults cannot hear.
  2. The website includes a chart of ringtones that start at 8kHz (everyone should be able to hear) and go up to 22kHz (only those below age 20 can hear).  Starting with the 8kHz frequency, download* each ringtone one at a time and keep a list of which you can hear and make a note when you are no longer able to hear the ringtone.

*There are four options for downloading the ringtones, depending on what type of device you are using.  Most students on a computer, laptop or Android device will click the green download button (MP3). Students using iPhones will click the blue/grey button (M4R format) and students using Windows phones will click on the red/orange button (WAV format).  There is no need to save the ringtones.

Step 2:

Thoroughly discuss the following:

  1. Other than age, what factors may be both positively and negatively affecting your hearing?  For example, using headphones regularly or a history of ear infections may be negatively affecting your hearing while living in a rural area or rarely attending live concerts may have a positive affect on your hearing.
  2. When writing your initial post, please include the frequencies you could hear and whether your actual age is consistent with the age ranges given by the website.

Important guidelines to follow:

Write at least a 300-word, well-developed and well-written response.  Use APA Formatting Guide to create accurate citations and documentation to give credit for any resource material used in your response. Your assignment is due September 24 in class.

Grading Criteria

To maximize your score, you must follow guidelines.

Discuss strategies that are mindful of how development is multidimensional for both Connor and Samantha and include a crisis management plan for Samantha.

This  paper must be perfect in every way no room for mistakes

In this assignment, you will compare developmental treatment plan options for the given scenario and discuss strategies for multidimensional interventions, including a needed crisis management plan.

Scenario:

You have been hired as a counselor working in a drug and alcohol counseling center. One of your patients is a man named Connor, aged 75 years. Connor left school at 16. He has never had a job that lasted longer than a few months. He has a long string of criminal offences (burglary, shoplifting, etc.). He is an alcoholic and is believed to have been drinking heavily since the age of 17. He has two adult children by different women. Both partners have said that he was violent toward them. His daughter, Laura (aged 27 years), and granddaughter, Samantha (aged 6 years), currently live with him. Laura has a history of cocaine abuse, which started in her early teens. A child protection agency has established that Laura recently left her child, Samantha, on her own when she went out to obtain drugs. She is attending parenting classes at the insistence of the child protection agency, which has made it clear that it will take steps to prevent Samantha from remaining in Laura’s care if she does not address her drug habit. Laura is often depressed and has little self-esteem. In spite of Connor’s history of violence toward her, she cannot imagine not living with her father as she looks to him for security.

Contents of a Treatment Plan

A mental health treatment plan should include a brief, clear statement of the treatment objectives and interventions and be easily understandable by all involved. The plan should specify what the clinical mental health counselor, a friend or a family member, and a client will do to address each identified goal and state who is responsible for each identified action and expected outcomes. The objectives for each identified need must be realistic and achievable and completed within an agreed-upon time frame.

Treatment plans are based on the most current assessment of the client’s needs and any identified risk factors. Proper assessments should consider psychiatric symptoms and medical and physical needs. Risk factors, drug and alcohol problems, social issues, accommodation issues, family (including parenting) issues, and personal issues should also be considered, although not necessarily all need to be commented on. The treatment plan should only reflect current priorities for the client.

Instructions

Compare treatment plan options for Connor based on theories of adult development. Choose a plan and describe treatment goals for Connor using the plan. Discuss strategies that are mindful of how development is multidimensional for both Connor and Samantha and include a crisis management plan for Samantha. Finally, create a wellness plan for both Connor and Samantha, which promotes a healthy relationship. Wellness plans typically include five areas of focus: (1) emotional wellness, (2) physical wellness, (3) nutritional wellness, (4) social/relational wellness, and (5) spiritual wellness.

It is important to note that the samples that are provided are to be used as guides. The sample wellness plan shared above is for adults, so you have to modify it for Samantha considering her age. As you create your own treatment and wellness plans for this family, be sure to include any additional information that you believe will be beneficial in your work with Connor and Samantha.

Your final product will be a 4-page Microsoft Word document written in APA format, utilizing at least six scholarly sources. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

What unique perspective does each school of thought bring to the understanding? What are the limitations of each school of thought in understanding Judy’s case?

For this assignment, you will be examining the historical foundations of three major schools of thought within the field of psychology: psychoanalysis, Behaviorism, and Humanism.

You will be applying the three major theories and the concepts from these theories to help understand a case scenario. You will be comparing and contrasting the strengths and the limitations of each of the theories in understanding the particular case. You will then draw a conclusion and defend your conclusion as to which theory best fits with understanding the particular case.

In a well-written 10–12-page scholarly paper, address the following:

· Begin with a discussion of the historical foundations of each school of thought: psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and humanism. Be sure to include a discussion of the following:

o Historical underpinnings of each school of thought.

o Major theorists within each school of thought.

o Major concepts within each school of thought.

o Bidirectional relationships between cultural and societal factors and each school of thought.

o How did cultural and societal events of the time shape the development of this school of thought? How did this school of thought shape and influence societal thinking?

Paraphrase as much of the information that you learn from sources as possible rather than using direct quotes. Quotes should be used only occasionally. Cite and reference all sources of information you paraphrase or quote in your work.

Case Study

Apply the major concepts and theories from each school of thought to the following case study:

Judy is a 29-year-old single female. She has a very demanding, high stress job as a second-year medical resident in a large hospital. Judy has always been a high achiever. She graduated with top honors in both college and medical school. She has very high standards for herself and can be very self-critical when she fails to meet them. Lately, she has struggled with significant feelings of worthlessness and shame due to her inability to perform as well as she always has in the past.

Address the following in your paper:

· How would a psychoanalyst explain what is happening here? How might a psychoanalyst explain Judy’s high standards and feelings of worthlessness and shame? How would a behaviorist explain what is happening here? How would a humanist explain what is happening here?

· Compare and contrast the strengths and limitations pros and cons of each school of thought’s approach to our understanding of Judy’s this case. What unique perspective does each school of thought bring to the understanding? What are the limitations of each school of thought in understanding Judy’s case?

· Select one school of thought (psychoanalysis, Behaviorism, Humanism) and present an argument as to why you think this school of thought would be the most appropriate in addressing the issues presented in the case study. Overall, which school of thought provides the best understanding of Judy’s case? Be sure to also discuss the limitations of the two schools you did not choose.

In addition to other professional sources, such as your textbook, use a minimum of five scholarly sources to support your ideas. Please note that popular websites are not acceptable sources of support.

You do not need an index or abstract for this paper. Use the APA Style Paper Template to complete the assignment.
