You may choose to write an argumentative, informative, or compare/contrast style paper. Most students choose either argumentative or informative for this assignment.

Instructions

In this assignment, you will write a polished analysis of the biological, psychological, and social components of the topic from your experiential activity. You will use information and evidence from the prior steps, your actual experience of the topic, and the required six sources (three of which must be peer-reviewed journal articles) to complete the following:

  1. A 6 page analysis paper of the activity, not including the title or references page. The EAA Final Paper should utilize relevant information and sources from the earlier steps, and be organized like your outline with use of the same headings (introduction, biological component, psychological component, social component, and conclusion). You will expand from the outlined ideas to a full and strong thesis, as well as fully developed topics within each component. Typically, each component will have 2-3 topics explored.
  2. Your actual experience of the topic should be incorporated as appropriate for additional evidence, but do not use first person (I, me, my, etc.). Observations from the experience can be great evidence to add to the analysis of your activity. However, part of learning APA writing format is avoiding the use of first person and writing in a more formal, academic tone. This can be especially important when studying an often personal topic like sexuality. An example of the difference between informal first person and formal APA could be:
    • The audience at the burlesque show was more than 50% female, which contradicts stereotypes of what gender(s) might want to see women perform the art of striptease.Versus
    • I was surprised that the audience was more than 50% female at the burlesque show I went to.
  3. An examination, explanation, and interpretation of the biological, psychological, and social aspects of your topic. Support these interpretations with evidence from your academic sources and experiential observations. Draw conclusions about your topic and support these conclusions with evidence from your academic sources. The conclusions you draw should demonstrate deep, critical analysis about the activity’s impact on the individual and/or society, and have evidence from your academic sources to support them. You may choose to write an argumentative, informative, or compare/contrast style paper. Most students choose either argumentative or informative for this assignment.
    • Remember to incorporate specific examples from your experience. The examples from your experience should be appropriately connected to your academic research.
  4. Include an accurate References page, formatted using 7th edition APA format, with at least the six required sources, three of which must be peer-reviewed journal articles.

You may not use first person (I, me, my) in this paper. Your analysis should use the 7th edition APA format and:

  • Have a title and references page.
  • Use correctly formatted in-text citations.
  • Use 12-point font, Times New Roman, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins.
  • Be spell-checked and proofread.

Details:

This is a three-part assignment. Specific directions for each of the three parts are outlined below. This assignment should be uploaded as ONE document that includes all three parts. A comprehensive reference page that lists the sources used in all three parts of the assignment should be included at the end of the document.

Part 1– Ethical and Legal Viewpoint

Write, from your future perspective of being an ethical and law-abiding counselor, a 500-750-word paper in which you incorporate your ethical and legal view on the following topics:

  1. Volunteerism – What standards do you need to uphold if you are in a voluntary position or providing free/pro bono work?
  2. Self-disclosure – Would you disclose personal information to a client? If so, when and how is it appropriate?
  3. Objectivity – Why is it important to remain objective for your client?
  4. Self-care – How will you balance your life?
  5. Spirituality – How will you maintain your spirituality in and out of practice?

Be sure to cite professional code of ethics and/or articles to support your statements.

Part 2– Disposition Analysis

Choose three of the dispositions required of professional counselors. Write a 250-500 word personal reflection on the dispositions that you chose. Make sure to discuss some of the strengths you have in maintaining the dispositions as well as any challenges you may face in upholding the dispositions.

Part 3– Professional Organization Research

Often times, professional counselors are ethically required to join a professional counseling organization. Even if not required, it is good practice to do so.  Research a professional organization that you might join such as the American Counseling Association, your state’s counseling association, an association for addictions counselors such as NAADAC, or another relevant professional organization.

Write a 500-750 word overview of the organization or association you chose. Include the following in your overview:

  • Membership benefits
  • Available activities and/or services to members
  • Current issues addressed by the organization that are relevant to the counseling profession (These items are usually listed on the association’s website, but you may research elsewhere for one or two current issues in the field.  Examples of current issues could include lobbying efforts for particular populations or specialties in the field, proposed or changing laws/regulations, high profile court cases involving ethical violations, or the like.)

Identify the theorist associated with the concept. · Provide a rationale for why that is the most applicable concept from that model.

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review sections 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 of Chapter 1 in the text.

Each model has several theorists and numerous concepts that describe personality. That is what theories are—collections of related concepts meant to explain development. It is time for you to begin to analyze these concepts to determine which you think are most useful and applicable. For this assignment, you will identify one concept from each of the following models that you think is the best description for personality development from that model (the last three will be addressed in your Final Paper). Be sure to use proper APA headings to separate your conceptual sections. Address the following models:

· Psychodynamic

· Neurobiological

· Trait

· Cognitive

For each of the concepts chosen:

· Apply a proper APA heading to separate the section.

· Describe the concept.

· Identify the theorist associated with the concept.

· Provide a rationale for why that is the most applicable concept from that model.

Keep in mind that the object of this assignment is to identify and discuss a specific concept from each model and not to focus on just one model or provide overviews of the models per.

Thus, the paper will have a total of four scholarly sources

· Must be three double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style.

Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style (Plagiarism Checked)
