Discuss at least one of the “kisses of death” (in Appleby & Appleby, 2006) that you found to be insightful and/or helpful when completing your assignments this week.

Submit a 1- to 2-page case write-up that addresses the following:

  • Summarize the assumptions of attachment theory in 2 to 3 sentences.
  • Identify the problem in your chosen case study to be worked on from an attachment theory perspective.
  • Explain how attachment theory defines and explains the cause of the problem in one to two sentences.
  • Develop two assessment questions that are guided by attachment theory that you would ask the client to understand how the stress or distress is affecting the client.
  • Discuss two interventions to address the problem. Remember, the theory should be driving the interventions. In other words, you would not identify systematic desensitization since this is not an intervention guided by attachment theory.
  • Formulate one self-reflective question that is influenced by attachment theory that you can ask yourself to gain greater empathy for what the client is experiencing.
  • Explain which outcomes you could measure to evaluate client progress based theory.

Be sure to:

  • Identify and correctly reference the case study you have chosen.
  • Use literature to support your claims.
  • Use APA formatting and style.
    • Remember to double-space your paper.

      Academic Journal

Reflect on the Week 3 Learning Resources that you utilized to complete your assignments this week, and write 1 short paragraph for each bulleted prompt:

      • Explain which Learning Resources or other websites you visited to complete your assignments this week you found to be particularly valuable.
      • Discuss at least one of the “kisses of death” (in Appleby & Appleby, 2006) that you found to be insightful and/or helpful when completing your assignments this week.
      • Discuss at least one frequently asked question (FAQ) from the BS in Psychology Resource Center that you found helpful. The link to the BS in Psychology Resource Center is located in the Course Home menu.
      • Describe any questions you might have or insights you have gained this week related to graduate studies.

      Planning for Success:

Based on your reflections, list in the “Post-Graduate Studies Goals and Resources” section of your Curriculum and Strategy for Success Planner the resources (e.g., articles, website information, URL links) used this week that you might utilize again if you decide to pursue post-graduate studies. More detailed instructions are provided in the template, located in the Week 1 Learning Resources.

Do not submit your Curriculum and Strategy for Success Planner at this time; you will submit this in Week 6.

How are data analyzed differently in qual studies as compared to quan studies?

Part 1Top of Form

In the article by Gonzalez, Stein, and Shannonhouse (2012) qualitative interviews were performed to study the Latino or Latina adolescents and their future goals. The research question aims to understand the aspirations of the adolescents and how they would describe their hopes for their future as well as any barriers identified that would inhibit them from reaching those goals. The research question identified begins with “How?” meeting the criteria of the checklist. The research question was also stated multiple times throughout the article; it identifies with the design of the study as well as method chosen for the collection of data. A consensual qualitative research (CQR) was used for the interview and several questions were formed as part of the protocol that were open-ended and used exploratory verbs to identify outcomes. Conversations were recorded with the participants in this study who were tenth graders and the interviews were conducted via phone. A coding team was also used to review and critique the data from the interviews.

The qualitative research approach that is used in this study I believe to be participatory action research (PAR). Babbie (2017) identifies that with PAR approach, the researcher serves as a resource for groups who are at a disadvantage and gives them a change to identify problems, needs, and aids in helping the groups take action for their interests and aims. In this study by Gonzalez, et.al. (2012), the researchers helped the adolescents in understanding their goals and aims by showing them the results and helping create knowledge. Throughout this study, there is good alignment between the framework of the study, the problem, the research question, the purpose of the study, and the research design.

How are data analyzed differently in qual studies as compared to quan studies?

identify a potential ethical issue in quantitative research and explain how it might influence design decisions. Finally, explain what it means for a research topic to be amenable to scientific study using a quantitative approach.

Researchers consider validity and reliability with each new study they design. This is because validity and reliability are not fixed but rather reflect a particular study’s unique variables, research design, instruments, and participants.

In the context of research design, two types of validity, which speak to the quality of different features of the research process, are considered: internal validity and external validity. Assuming that the findings of a research study are internally valid—i.e., the researcher has used controls to determine that the outcome is indeed due to manipulation of the independent variable or the treatment—external validity refers to the extent to which the findings can be generalized from the sample to the population or to other settings and groups. Reliability refers to the replicability of the findings.

For this Discussion, you will consider threats to internal and external validity in quantitative research and the strategies used to mitigate these threats. You will also consider the ethical implications of designing quantitative research.

With these thoughts in mind:

By Day 4

Post an explanation of a threat to internal validity and a threat to external validity in quantitative research. Next, explain a strategy to mitigate each of these threats. Then, identify a potential ethical issue in quantitative research and explain how it might influence design decisions. Finally, explain what it means for a research topic to be amenable to scientific study using a quantitative approach.

What information do you gather from the data in this instrument? What will you do with the information from the Level 1 Measure?

MUST USE ATTACHED INFORMATION TO COMPLETE AND BE 100% ORIGINAL WORK!!!!

Read the Case Study for “Johnny” and review/score the DSM-5 Parent/Guardian-Rated Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure—Child Age 6–17 form completed by the mother (attached).

Consider the following when reviewing the form:

  • What information do you gather from the data in this instrument?
  • What will you do with the information from the Level 1 Measure?
  • Utilize the DSM-5 Parent/Guardian-Rated Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure—Child Age 6–17 Measure – to differentiate between issues associated with typical childhood behaviors and clinically-significant psychopathology.
  • Would you assess that “Johnny” needs a formal referral to a pediatric psychiatrist/psychologist/counselor?
  • Assign the appropriate DSM-5 diagnoses for “Johnny” in descending order, from the dominant, to the least dominant.
  • What diagnostic impression do you reach based on the information gathered about Johnny? What is your rationale for ruling-out other diagnoses?

Write a 500-750-word paper about Johnny and your findings. Include the following in your paper:

  • The appropriate DSM-5 diagnoses for “Johnny” in descending order from the dominant, to the least dominant, and an explanation for your analysis.
  • A rationale regarding why other diagnoses were excluded.
  • A discussion regarding if you would assess that “Johnny” needs a formal referral to a pediatric psychiatrist/psychologist/counselor and the reasoning for your choice.
  • Include least five scholarly references in addition to the textbook in your paper to substantiate your findings.
