What music, poetry, sculpture, paintings, architecture, dance, theatre, or cinema art form would you like to have performed or viewed at your funeral to express your life?

For your final Writing Assignment, you have three choices. Please choose one of the following prompts and begin drafting your assignment. As long as I see earnest effort, I won’t be terribly strict about word count this week. Please use what you create for the discussion in the Writing Assignment itself.

Here are the choices:

Choose one of the following options to complete.

  1. On page 109 of your textbook, view Artemisia Gentileschi’s Judith Beheading Holofernes, c. 1612. Answer thefollowing in essay form using 200 – 250 words.
    1. What is happening in this picture? Why?
    2. What does this picture teach us in regard to morality?
    3. Read about the context of this painter on pp. 108 – 109. After reading this section, how does this changehow you view this painting? Does this context add another layer of understanding to the action of the painting?
  2. Write a love song. You may write your own music, or use someone else’s musical score, but give them credit (Rolling Stones, “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”). Explain using 200 – 250 words, what kind of love you are extolling and who this song is dedicated to and why.
  3. What music, poetry, sculpture, paintings, architecture, dance, theatre, or cinema art form would you like to have performed or viewed at your funeral to express your life? Explain in detail, using 200 – 250 words, why you have chosen the various pieces to affirm your life.

What is the z score for a GRE score of 583? What is the percentile rank of this z score? (Hint: See slide 7 of this week’s related presentation)

3)  Rewrite each of the following percentages as probabilities, or p levels:
3-a)  5% =    Answer
3-b)  95% =  Answer
3-c)  43% =  Answer
4)  If the critical values, or cutoffs, for a two-tailed z test are -2.05 and +2.05, determine whether you would reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis in each of the following cases:
4a)  z = 2.23      Answer
4b)  z = -0.97       Answer
5) Imagine a class of twenty-five 12-year-old girls with an average height of 62 inches.  We know that the population mean and standard deviation for this age group of girls is m=59 inches, s = 1.5 inches. (Note that this is a z statistic problem.)
5a)  Calculate the z statistic for this sample (not the z score).   Answer
5b)  How does this sample mean compare to the distribution of sample means? In other words, how does the height of the girls in the sample compare to the height of girls in th general population?   Answer
6) For the following scenarios, identify whether the researcher has expressed a directional or a nondirectional hypothesis:
6a)  Social media has changed the levels of closeness in long-distance relationships.

Answer

6b)  A professor wonders whether students who eat a healthy breakfast score better on exams in morning courses than those who do not eat a healthy breakfast.

Answer

7) For the following scenario, state the null and research hypotheses in both words and symbolic notation. Symbolic notation must include the symbols “m1” and “m2” and a comparison operator (=,  ,  <,  >, ), as described in Nolan and Heinzen (2014). Remember to consider whether the hypothesis is nondirectional or directional.

Scenario: A professor wonders whether students who eat a healthy breakfast score better on exams in morning courses than those who do not eat a healthy breakfast.

Chapter 10 Assignment

Instructions: By now you have read Chapter 10: Emotion and Motivation. Your job for this assignment is to answer the following personal adjustment/critical thinking questions that pertain to topics in chapter 10. Each answer needs to be a minimum of one paragraph (5 sentences) to received full credit.

Questions:

  1. Can you think of recent examples of how Maslow’s hierarchy of needs might have affected your behavior in some way?
  2. Critical Thinking:As indicated in this section, Caucasian women from industrialized, Western cultures tend to be at the highest risk for eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Why might this be?
  3. Critical Thinking:Imagine you find a venomous snake crawling up your leg just after taking a drug that prevented sympathetic nervous system activation. What would the James-Lange theory predict about your experience?refer to chart in Erik Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial DevelopmentPsychosocial Theory

I am 20 years old btw

The basic tenet of the psychosocial theory is that development occurs throughout life in a series of stages. Refer to the chart in the book. Based on your age, which stage of development does the theory predict you are currently facing? You may feel that the previous stage or the stage following better reflects your current life situation.

In 1½ to 2 double-spaced typed pages, discuss your stage of psychosocial development by addressing the following questions.

    1. Where does the theory place you in the life stages?

    2. Do you believe that there is a close fit between the developmental tasks and psychosocial crisis and your current life circumstances? (It may be helpful to turn to the relevant chapter and briefly review the tasks and crisis.)

    3. If so, briefly discuss them. If not, what stage better addresses your life stage?

Remember that the ages in the theory are not set in stone. Failure to successfully complete a stage can result in a reduced ability to complete further stages and therefore a more unhealthy personality and sense of self.  These stages, however, can be resolved successfully at a later time.

Describe the options for resolving the ethical conflict including the interpersonal perceptions and other considerations that influence the options. (Benchmarks: Relationships, Spirit and Self-Discovery C8.2: Evaluate changes in one’s ability to be perceptive of others.)

Topic: Benchmark – Dual Relationships Case Study

Research Psychologist A has been conducting a study with human subjects for nearly a year. As a result, A has come to know Participant M quite well. The study is taking longer than expected, and some of the participants are leaving the study. Because of the nature of the working relationship with the participants, Research Psychologist A and Participant M have become interested in an intimate relationship. Since neither one wants to jeopardize the progress of the study, they agree to retain only a professional relationship for the duration of the study, and then to pursue an intimate relationship once the study is completed and the results have been published.

In this assignment, you will address the ethical issues of this case and will present options for resolving the ethical conflict. You will be required to consider individual perceptions as well as the needs, potential, and motivation of the involved parties when positing your resolution.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

· Review the 2010 APA Ethics Code.

· Refer to Pope, K. S. (n.d.). Dual relationships, multiple relationships, & boundary decisions in the course materials for this topic.

· In addition to those listed in the assignment directions, this assignment benchmarks the following writing competencies: C7.1: Produce scholarly academic writing and C7.2: Demonstrate written logic, argument, and persuasiveness.

· Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments.

· You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

Directions:

Write a paper (1,750-2,000 words) in which you do the following:

1. Describe the ethical conflict in the scenario above.

2. Describe the options for resolving the ethical conflict including the interpersonal perceptions and other considerations that influence the options. (Benchmarks: Relationships, Spirit and Self-Discovery C8.2: Evaluate changes in one’s ability to be perceptive of others.)

3. Identify the preferred option for resolving the conflict, and explain why it is the best option. How does this option address the needs, potential, and motivations of the involved parties? (Benchmarks: Relationships, Spirit and Self-Discovery C8.3: Synthesize the potential and motivations of self and others.)

4. Propose steps Research Psychologist A should take to avoid a similar situation in the future.
