Purpose: The goal of this assignment is to  start  thinking about your cognitive world. It is useful to consider new   perspectives and how they might affect our understanding of our   environment or ourselves. For this chapter, I want you to think about   how you use (or don’t use) mental Imagery in your every day life.

Task: The book has a section on “Individual   difference in mental imagery” (if you have the 9th edition, you may  need  to contact a friend who has the 10th to read this short section).  It  describes different cognitive styles when it comes to the way may execute a mental images. However, it also cautions you to not treat these as distinct categories, everybody can probably do a mixture of both styles.

  1. For paragraph 1 for this discussion, I want you to explain in your  own words what are the Visualizers vs Verbalizers which are the two  cognitive styles used in mental imagery. How does this  relate to or  support propositional codes and analog codes?

There are six ways in which a person and the situation interact to shape a person’s goals, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

These are:

 

1. Different persons respond differently to the same situation.

2. Situations choose the person.

3. Persons choose the situation.

4. Different situations can prime different parts of the person.

5. Persons change the situation.

6. Situations change the person.

As part of your answer:

·         Discuss what is meant by each of these dyads.

·         Provide an example of how each one works.

·         Assume you are a supervisor. How would you work within each of these situations with your employees to increase employee motivation? How would your decisions be affected by each person-situation dyad?

·         Assume that you are an industrial/organizational consultant brought into the same office as asked to study these person-situation interactions in order to advise management how to best put them to use to increase employee motivation which research design would you use? Prior to beginning this assignment, read the PSY650 Week Two Treatment Plan ,Preview the document Case 16: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Gorenstein and Comer (2014), and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders in Hamblin and Gross (2012).

Assess the evidence-based practices implemented in this case study by addressing the following issues:

  • Explain the connection between each theoretical orientation used by Dr. Remoc and the four interventions utilized in the case.
  • Consider Dr. Remoc’s utilization of two theoretical frameworks to guide her treatment plan.  Assess the efficacy of integrating two orientations based on the information presented in the case study. Describe some potential problems with prescribing medication as the only treatment option for children with ADHD.
  • Identify tasks and positive reinforcements that might be included in Billy’s token economy chart given the behavior issues described in the case. (There are articles in the recommended resources that may assist you in this portion of the assignment.)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the four treatment interventions implemented by Dr. Remoc and support your statements with information from the case and two to three peer-reviewed articles
  • Recommend three additional treatment interventions that would be appropriate in this case. Use information from the Hamblin and Gross “Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders” chapter to help support your recommendations. Justify your selections with information from the case.

The Case Analysis

  • Must be 4 to 5 double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
