Submit a 2- to 3- APA page paper that analyzes the role of the social worker in helping to plan end-of-life care.

The death of an elderly individual may occur in a variety of settings and circumstances. For example, an individual may die painlessly at home surrounded by the support of many loved ones, or an individual may suffer severe pain for months before dying in a health facility with little social support. In addition, it is possible that many health and helping professionals may interact with the dying person and his or her family.

For this Assignment, you consider a social worker’s role in end-of-life care. In addition to reading this week’s resources, conduct your own research and obtain at least one additional journal article that addresses how a social worker might support clients as they plan end-of-life care.

Submit a 2- to 3– APA page paper that analyzes the role of the social worker in helping to plan end-of-life care. Include possible consideration of palliative care, euthanasia, hospice care, the living will and advanced directives, and other factors. Research and cite at least one journal article to support your analysis.

What did your small sample miss? What did they over-represent? Why do you think these misperceptions exist?

Welcome to the Discussion Forum!

Each week, you will be asked to respond to the prompt or prompts in the discussion forum. Your initial post should be 75-150 words in length, and is due on Sunday. By Tuesday, you should respond to two additional posts from your peers. If you have not done so lately, please review the Rules of Discussion.

For your follow up post…review the responses provided by your peers. Engage in conversation, or even civil debate, as you discuss their insights and viewpoints. You may ask questions for clarification (if you are confused by their initial post) or pose questions that advance the conversation. You might even find a topic that leads you to further research in the area!

Perception of Psychology

Question A

Psychoanalytic theory suggests that some memories can be so painful, that a person can totally block them from their conscious memory and then later “recover” them; either spontaneously or while receiving therapy.  Others argue that these are false memories that can be created through the power of suggestion for some people.  Which viewpoint do you agree with and why?  Have you had a memory that later turned out to be incorrect?  What do you think was the cause of the error in your recollection?

Question B

Public perception of psychology tends not to portray the entire scope of the field. To evaluate this statement please ask three people who are not in this psychology class (e.g., roommates, parents, friends and professors from other fields) what they think psychologists do. Next, compile a list of the ideas and then compare this list to Chapter 1 of the textbook. What did your small sample miss? What did they over-represent? Why do you think these misperceptions exist?

Write a summary of approximately 200 to 300 words in which you analyze and explain ethical and cultural strategies for promoting resilience, optimum development, and wellness in middle childhood.

Details:

Part 1: Writing a Play (please see the attached file below for the format for a play)

Read the articles assigned for this topic and conduct additional research on the Internet. Use your knowledge to write a one-act play about a small group of friends.

Through the dialogue, the children should exhibit evidence of being in the concrete-operational period of cognitive development.

Be as creative in the dialogue of your scene as you can, remembering that at this stage, children, according to the textbook, become “less egocentric, rarely confuse appearances with reality, and are able to reverse their thinking.”

Set the scene and include acting and stage direction, if necessary and appropriate.

Your creative work should be between 500-750 words.

Give your play a name.

If you have any questions let me know I will check back.

Part 2: Summary

Write a summary of approximately 200 to 300 words in which you analyze and explain ethical and cultural strategies for promoting resilience, optimum development, and wellness in middle childhood.

APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a scoring guide. (please see file attached below and use that) Please review the scoring guide prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Search for and select a quantitative article specific to your discipline and related to t tests. Help with this task may be found in the Course guide and assignment help linked in this week’s Learning

Whether in a scholarly or practitioner setting, good research and data analysis should have the benefit of peer feedback. For this Discussion, you will perform an article critique on t tests. Be sure and remember that the goal is to obtain constructive feedback to improve the research and its interpretation, so please view this as an opportunity to learn from one another.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Learning Resources and the media programs related to t tests.
  • Search for and select a quantitative article specific to your discipline and related to t tests. Help with this task may be found in the Course guide and assignment help linked in this week’s Learning Resources. Also, you can use as a guide the Research Design Alignment Table located in this week’s Learning Resources

Write a 3- to 5-paragraph critique of the article. In your critique, include responses to the following:

  • Which is the research design used by the authors?
  • Why did the authors use this t test?
  • Do you think it’s the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?
  • Did the authors display the data?
  • Do the results stand alone? Why or why not?
  • Did the authors report effect size? If yes, is this meaningful?

Be sure to support your Main Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.
