When determining which new members to add, it is suggested you follow a screening process to ensure they are a good fit for the group.

You have been tasked to design a counseling group from start to finish. To start this task, select one of the following group types.

  • Children of divorce—This is my topic

Now that you have selected a group type you need to consider the other details of your group as well to include :

how new members will be selected.

When determining which new members to add, it is suggested you follow a screening process to ensure they are a good fit for the group.

Create a 12-15-slide presentation about your group that includes the following:

  • Group type
  • Why you chose this type of group
  • Population serving
  • Number of sessions
  • Number of participants
  • Goals of the counseling group
  • Theoretical approach(es) to be used in the group
  • A set of screening questions and criteria that you, as the group leader, will use to choose the members of the group.
  • Begin with demographic questions (name, age, address, presenting issue, etc.) There should be a minimum of 10 screening questions, not including the demographics questions.

Speaker notes on each slide that would represent what you would say if giving this presentation in person.

  • Use a minimum of three scholarly references in addition to the course textbook to support the findings.

Title slide and reference slide are not included in the slide count. Include speaker notes below each content-related slide that represent what would be said if giving the presentation in person. Expand upon the information included in the slide and do not simply restate it.

**** Please ensure the speaker notes include a minimum of 50 words.

**** Please use at least 3 scholarly references and APA style

Post a 7- to 8-slide PowerPoint-style presentation with audio that summarizes each of the four sections of your Capstone Paper.

Discussion: Capstone Presentation

In this week’s Discussion, you will have the opportunity to develop and share with a small group of your colleagues a presentation summarizing your Capstone Paper. This task facilitates your learning about how to disseminate information in presentation form. The ability to do this well is important for gaining the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to present your research and ideas to colleagues. In addition, learning how to give and receive feedback is important. Receiving peer feedback helps you learn how to strengthen your writing and presentation skills by taking into account the responses of actual and anticipated readers. Giving peer feedback helps you refine your critical-thinking skills and your communication skills.

By Day 3

Post a 7- to 8-slide PowerPoint-style presentation with audio that summarizes each of the four sections of your Capstone Paper.

The audio should be a recording of you presenting the PowerPoint as if you were standing in front of an audience. Refer to your sources using in-text citations. Be sure to include the following in your slideshow presentation:

  • One slide with title information
  • One to two slides describing the following:
    • Your chosen professional role
    • Why you chose this particular profession
    • The knowledge, skills, and characteristics one would need be successful in your chosen profession
  • One slide outlining how van der Heijden’s (2002) three predictor variables might inform your actions in developing expertise in your chosen profession
  • One slide outlining the main theories used in your chosen profession
  • One slide outlining the main research areas used in your chosen profession
  • One slide outlining the main research methods used in your chosen profession
  • One slide outlining how your chosen professional role can contribute to positive social change
  • Be sure to add graphics to your slides to make it visually appealing

Post an explanation of how the evolution of health care policy has influenced programs such as Medicaid and Medicare.

DISCUSSION 1: Spiritual Development

Furness and Gilligan (2010) stated, “There is a growing body of literature written predominantly for health professionals and more recently for social workers about the importance of developing and incorporating cultural and spiritual sensitivity and awareness in their work with others” (p. 2187). Spirituality, which may or may not include involvement with an established religion, contributes to human diversity and influences human behavior. An individual’s spirituality may be an important factor in his or her social environment. As a social worker, your awareness of a client’s spirituality may help increase your understanding of the client and his or her needs.

Sensitivity to and respect for your client’s spiritual dimension reflects your appreciation of diversity. As you consider the potential impact of your clients’ spirituality on their perspectives and behavior, you must also consider how your spirituality might influence your interactions with a client.

For this Discussion, you consider the impact of spirituality on your interactions with clients.

·      Post a Discussion in which you explain how considerations about clients’ worldviews, including their spirituality or religious convictions, might affect your interactions with them.

·      Provide at least two specific examples. In addition, explain one way your own spirituality or religious convictions might support your work with a client, and one barrier it might present.

·      Finally, share one strategy for applying an awareness of spirituality to social work practice in general.

Be sure to support your posts with specific references to the resources. If you are using additional articles, be sure to provide full APA-formatted citations for your references.

Discussion 2: Stakeholders in Health Care Policy

There are many stakeholders involved in health care policy issues, and they represent a wide variety of interests and perspectives. The health care industry employs many people. Though all stakeholders may share the goal of optimum individual and societal health and well-being, it is important to note that stakeholders’ financial interests may influence decision making.

For this Discussion, review this week’s resources. Consider the impact of health care policy’s evolution on Medicaid and Medicare programs. Then, think about a specific Medicaid policy in your state that should be amended, and reflect on how you would amend it and why. Finally, research the stakeholders involved in Medicaid and Medicare health care policy in your state and consider the role of these stakeholders in policy development for this issue.

Discuss your  conclusions of the both the dummy-coded multiple regression and the  orthogonal-coded multiple regression as they relate to your stated  research question and hypotheses for the overall regression model and  the individual predictors.

Suppose that a researcher conducts a study to see how level of anxiety ( A1 = low, A2 = medium, A3 = high) predicts exam performance ( Y). The performance ( Y) and anxiety ( A) data are already entered into u08a1data.sav.  Your task is to correctly enter the dummy codes to run regression.  First, for dummy-coded regression, assume that the researcher wants to  compare the medium anxiety group to the low and high anxiety groups.  Enter the dummy codes for the low anxiety group contrast ( D1) and the high anxiety group contrast ( D2). Next, generate orthogonal codes for a positive linear trend ( O1) and a quadratic (curvilinear) trend for an upside-down U ( O2).

Use the DAA Template located in the resources to write up your  assignment. The deadline for submitting your work is 11:59 PM CST on  Sunday of Week 8.

Step 1. Write Section 1 of the DAA. In Section 1  of the DAA, articulate your predictor variables, the outcome variable,  and the scales of measurement for each variable. Specify the sample size  of the data set.

Step 2. Write Section 2 of the DAA. Test the normality assumption of multiple regression with a visual interpretation of the Y histogram.

Step 3. Write Section 3 of the DAA. Specify a  research question for dummy-coded regression. Articulate a null  hypothesis and alternative hypothesis for the overall regression model.  Articulate the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis for each  predictor. Next, articulate a research question for the orthogonal-coded  regression. Articulate a null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis for  the overall regression model. Articulate the null hypothesis and  alternative hypothesis for each predictor. Specify the alpha level.

Step 4. Write Section 4 of the DAA.

  • Begin with a brief statement reviewing the normality assumption;  state your codes for the dummy-coded regression and the orthogonal  regression.
  • Next, paste the SPSS output of the Model Summary for the dummy-coded regression.
  • Report RR2, and interpret this effect size.
  • Next, paste the ANOVA output.
  • Report the F test and state your conclusion regarding the null hypothesis.
  • Next, paste the Coefficients output.
  • Interpret the b coefficients (i.e., what do the b values represent?) For each b coefficient, report the t tests and p-values, and for D1 and D2, a statement regarding the null hypothesis. Report the squared semipartial correlations for D1 and D2 with an interpretation of effect size.
  • Next, paste the SPSS output of the Model Summary for the orthogonal-coded regression.
  • Report RR2, and interpret the effect size.
  • Next, paste the ANOVA output.
  • Report the F test and state your conclusion regarding the null hypothesis.
  • Next, paste the Coefficients output.
  • Interpret the b coefficients (i.e., what do the b values represent?) For each b coefficient, report the t tests and p-values, and for O1 and O2, a statement regarding the null hypothesis. Report the squared semipartial correlations for O1 and O2 with an interpretation of effect size.

Step 5. Write Section 5 of the DAA. Discuss your  conclusions of the both the dummy-coded multiple regression and the  orthogonal-coded multiple regression as they relate to your stated  research question and hypotheses for the overall regression model and  the individual predictors. Conclude with an analysis of the strengths  and limitations of dummy-coded and orthogonal-coded regression.
