Discuss at least one thing not mentioned in the case study that could be an additional risk factor or protective factor for Aaliyah.

Correlation

Please read instructions carefully before sending me a handshake blindly

In this post, you will be challenged to look at how statistical tests, such as correlation are commonly used and the possible limitations of such analyses. In addition, you will need to identify the appropriate application of course-specified statistical tests, examine assumptions and limitations of course specified statistical tests, and communicate in writing critiques of statistical tests.

Much has been written about the relationship between students’ SAT test scores and their family’s income.  Generally speaking, there is a strong positive correlation between income and SAT scores.  Consider and discuss the following questions as you respond:

  • What does this correlation tell you?
  • Is this correlation evidence that having a high family income causes one to have high SAT scores?
  • Is this correlation evidence that high SAT scores are a cause of higher income?  Or, does this tell you something else? Explain your answer.
  • Explain why correlation alone is rarely sufficient to demonstrate cause.Drug use is found among all ages, genders, races, socioeconomic statuses, educational levels, and cultures. Throughout the course, you will follow the story of Aaliyah where you will apply the concepts you learn. In this module, you will meet Aaliyah and get to know her current situation.Analyze the case study and review your readings. Respond to the following:
    • Identify and analyze Aaliyah’s risk and protective factors for drug use. Describe at least two factors for each.
    • Discuss at least one thing not mentioned in the case study that could be an additional risk factor or protective factor for Aaliyah.
    • Explain what these risk and protective factors imply for future substance use.

Write a 2-3-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M1_A3.doc.

explain how corporate culture was related to organizational transformation in the case.

Today’s organizations must remain competitive in light of global economic challenges and other major current events. To do so, they must be willing to transform. In order to transform, organizations often benefit from academically and professionally sound advice from organizational change consultants who are well-versed in transformation strategies and practices. In this Discussion, you examine organizational transformation in relation to the change process.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 a brief description of two strategies of change. Then, using “The Space Electronics Corporation” case study (Attached), explain how one of the strategies you selected may have affected the outcome of the case. Finally, explain how corporate culture was related to organizational transformation in the case.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.

Respond by Day 5 to at least one of your colleagues who chose a different topic related to organizational transformation in one or more of the following ways:

  • Offer a supporting or opposing opinion on your colleague’s posting.
  • Share an insight you gained from having read your colleague’s post.
  • Validate an idea with your own experience. The visual system has specialized areas for perceiving faces, bodies, and places, but not other kinds of objects. Why do you think we have specialized areas for these functions but not others?  (Use information from your text, as well as from Scripture, to support your answer).TEXT BOOK IS  Biological Psychology 13th ed by James w. . What does Mill mean by the terms, “competent judges,” and “nobleness of character” in the essay? How do these terms relate to his ideas about happiness and utilitarianism? (13-14).

John Stuart Mill, ‘Utilitarianism’ (1861)

1. What is the “Greatest Happiness Principle,” according to John Stuart Mill? How does he define the concept in his essay? (p.10).

(Answer the question in your own words. Also find examples in the text).

2. Also, in the reading, what does Mill think about Epicurus, Epicureans, and the “Epicurean life?”  What does he write about Epicurus’ concept of pleasure?  (p.10-11).

(Find examples in the text to support your answers).

3. How does Mill compare pleasures in the reading? What does he mean when he writes:

“If I am asked, what I mean by difference of quality in pleasures, or what makes one pleasure more valuable than another…there is but one possible answer.”

How does he answer his own question? (p.11).

(Again, find examples in the text).

4. Also, what does Mill mean by the following famous quote:

“It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied. And if the fool, or the pig, are a different opinion, it is because they only know their own side of the question. The other party to the comparison knows both sides.”  (p.13).

(Answer the question in your own words, and find examples in the text to support your points).

5. What does Mill mean by the terms, “competent judges,” and “nobleness of character” in the essay? How do these terms relate to his ideas about happiness and utilitarianism? (13-14).

(Find examples in the text).

6. Finally, how might you apply Mill’s theory of Utilitarianism to the world today? Can you think of any examples that relate to ethics and society? How might his ideas relate to politics and human rights? Are they beneficial or not? Also, are there any potential problems with Mill’s theory? Please elaborate in your answer.

Consider the theories of Piaget and Kohlberg on cognitive and moral development. How do they view cognitive development and to what extent have their ideas confirmed or challenged by cross-cultural research?

1) What is the difference between biological and cultural evolution? How is this related to the concept we discussed in the Human Nature lecture on how identity serves as the connection point between outside institutions and our inner self? For example, think about how technology has shaped both our culture and our personal identity development.

2) Please consider the developmental processes of attachment. Describe the aspects of the theory and then discuss how the cross-cultural research we discussed in lecture has either confirmed or challenged these ideas.

3) Consider the theories of Piaget and Kohlberg on cognitive and moral development. How do they view cognitive development and to what extent have their ideas confirmed or challenged by cross-cultural research?

Please use the following scenario to answer questions 4 and 5.

Scenario: Imagine growing up in an extremely religious country where behavior is dictated by that religion and family/family values are the most important aspect of society where conformity is expected. When you are 15 years old you move to a country where individual freedoms are a right and it is difficult to ascertain what behaviors are expected of you and cultural diversity is promoted. The language is different, the freedom is new, and you are trying to understand how to fit into that new culture. Please address the points below in your response.

4) Using the above scenario and the Research Methods Lecture, please address the differences between assimilation and pluralism. Further, please indicate how they might play a role in this scenario.  What would Isajiw’s 3 generation theory suggest might happen to your children and grandchildren?

5) Using the above scenario, please discuss Erikson and James Marcia’s 4 stages of identity formation and place them in the context of this scenario. If you were in this scenario, how might those identity processes help to understand your transition. Please also include discussion of cross-cultural themes.
