Final Paper Assignment

The primary goal of your final assignment is to critically analyze the specific topic (The Affordable Care Act 2010) regarding American national government.

You have been preparing for this final assignment each week by constructing an Annotated Bibliography (Week 2) and a detailed outline of the Final Paper’s main points (Week 3) in which you focused on the following:

  • Historical and constitutional basis for the American Government’s structure
  • The system of checks and balances
  • The various roles (e., public opinion, media, special interest groups, etc.) concerning public policy and elections
  • The voting system and election process.

In addition, you have read the course text and course readings, reviewed videos, and researched additional material for each week’s assignments and this paper. This week, you will put all of those outlines, readings, reviews, and research together to evaluate policymaking and government program administration into one Final Paper.

Reflect on what you have learned about the key structures, systems, roles, and processes that embody our national government. Think about the strengths and weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages, and positive and negative impacts of these aspects of our democracy. Use what you have learned so far to evaluate a specific policy of our national government and recommend ways to enhance what works and repair what is not working well. It is important that your Final Paper utilizes your previous research and assignments, including the feedback that you received from the Ashford Writing Center in Week 4. The assignment should also showcase what you have learned in the course. While your previous assignments will serve as a strong base for this assignment, it is very important that you implement feedback from your instructor and the Ashford Writing Center, as well as further expand on the material. Appropriate transitions and headings are needed to ensure a cohesive Final Paper.

The Final Paper should utilize the POL201 Final Paper templatePreview the document which will be attached and should be at least six pages in length (not including title page and references) and based on your previously submitted assignments. It is important to utilize APA Style Elements (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.headings for major sections of your paper in order to ensure that the paper is easy to follow.

Scaffold your paper around the following outline:

discuss why you think people are attracted to the religion. What do NRMs have that more traditional religions seem to lack?

Since the 1960s in the United States, we have seen a proliferation of new religious movements (NRMs). These groups are often syncretic, blending elements from older religions together; sometimes this is also coupled with pseudo-science.  At first these NRMs can seem rather unbelievable to outsiders, but once deconstructed we often see a new way of grouping beliefs which are generally not uncommon.  Choose any NRM and deconstruct the beliefs and practices and try to connect it with older, more mainstream religions. Also, discuss why you think people are attracted to the religion. What do NRMs have that more traditional religions seem to lack?

  • Paper: due Monday, November 19.
  • Presentation (submit in Discussions): PM
  • There will be one paper analyzing a New Religious Movement (NRM) with an accompanying presentation. The paper will be at least 1500 words double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 font. This is a formal academic essay and students must cite their sources. MLA is the preferred citation style in Religious Studies.
  • Each person will complete an individual paper and a presentation, which will either be a PowerPoint, Prezi, or a video presentation. These presentations will be shared with the class through the discussion board. Students are expected to review their classmates’ presentations and the final quiz #10 will be based on the presentations.

Describe the students that will be the audience for the instruction. Include a description of their prior knowledge and an overview of any significant cultural or demographic factors that should be addressed through your instruction.

For this assignment Component 1 is done!!! *** I only need Component 2 completed. I will attach component 1 for clarity of the assignment. This assignment will be able Piaget’s Cognitive Stages of Development geared toward Bachelor’s level education majors.

** NEEDS TO BE APA FORMAT AND 5 pages

The lesson objectives will also be attached.

Component 1: Instructional Materials

Design and submit your instruction materials for the lesson you will be conducting. This should be originally developed materials that are not currently available through your workplace or found on the Internet. Keep in mind the instructional materials should consist of a lesson plan, at least one instructional activity, and any materials that learners need to view or need to complete lesson (PowerPoints, worksheets, maps, and so forth). The lesson plan needs to provide instructions specific enough that it could be taught by a colleague.

Remember: any materials you design should correlate with the learning objectives developed previously.

Within your instructional plan be sure to include at least one activity that students will participate in that reinforces the concepts in the lesson. For example, if your lesson is how to write test questions, one of the activities could be to brainstorm qualities of poorly written test questions. Other activities can include incorporating games, creative activities, and puzzles. These activities are not designed for summative assessment purposes, but instead are included to reinforce the concepts presented in your lesson. Be creative!

Note: You do not need to develop assessment materials at this time, as they will be developed in the next phase of the project.

Component 2: Rationale for Pedagogical Approach

Now is also the time to think about how you will conduct your lesson. What style of pedagogy will you use? Will you base the design of your instructional materials on a specific theory of learning? What is the best approach to convey knowledge based upon the lesson content and the students? Think about not only what you will teach, but how you will teach the content.

For this part of the assignment you are required to:

  • Describe the students that will be the audience for the instruction. Include a description of their prior knowledge and an overview of any significant cultural or demographic factors that should be addressed through your instruction.
  • Explain the pedagogical method, based upon learning theory, that you will you use to conduct your lesson. Some examples include direct instruction, guided discovery, or constructivism.
  • Justify the choice for your pedagogical methods by providing research-based citations to support your approach. Be thinking about the following as you write your rationale:
    • How does the lesson ensure that instruction takes place in students’ zone of proximal development?
    • How do the activities designed to create disequilibrium in students’ thinking?
    • How are the learning tasks appropriate for the cognitive developmental stage of the students?
    • How do the activities that require students to engage in complex problem solving or critical thinking?
    • Are there activities that require students to engage in at least one of the triarchic intelligences (Sternberg’s theory)? If so, explain.

The assignment (2–3 pages): · Explain two ways the counseling approach with the child in the media differs from the counseling approach with the adolescent in the media and how.

Application: Counseling Approaches with Children, Adolescents, and Adults

Counseling approaches used with children and adolescents are different from counseling approaches used with adults. Usually adults can engage in an open dialogue about the issues that bring them into counseling. Children and adolescents, however, are less likely to speak openly about their issues, and counselors must consider using more creative counseling approaches.

For this assignment, review the media Getting Started. Consider differences between and among counseling approaches used with the child, the adolescent, and the adult in the media.

The assignment (2–3 pages):

· Explain two ways the counseling approach with the child in the media differs from the counseling approach with the adolescent in the media and how.

· Explain two ways the counseling approach with the child differs from the counseling approach with the adult and how.

· Explain two ways the counseling approach with the adolescent differs from the counseling approach with the adult and how.

· Justify your response with evidence-based research.
