Develop a list of strengths and weaknesses for your “case” in each domain of family, individual, peer, school, and community. Consider the perspective/feedback you might get from each family member and from concerned others in the family’s ecology (e.g., the school, extended family).

Your clinical presentation (8–10 pages) (Attached is the background on the family and the information needed to be use for the paper) should include a description of the main presenting concerns that would warrant MST intervention, with detail about the extent of 15.

Evidence-Based Practice with Children and Families

the problem (severity, frequency, etc.). For example, “truancy, as evidenced by missed school three days per week since September.” Identify at least three problem areas.

Develop a list of strengths and weaknesses for your “case” in each domain of family, individual, peer, school, and community. Consider the perspective/feedback you might get from each family member and from concerned others in the family’s ecology (e.g., the school, extended family).

Pick two drivers from each fit circle that you would prioritize for intervention and identify MST-compatible interventions that you would provide to begin to address change. Remember that ecological intervention is prioritized over individual or insight-oriented treatment focus. Make sure to consider individual/family/community strengths that you would draw upon to support/facilitate change. Refer to the nine principles of MST to make sure that the interventions you propose are compatible with the model and highlight the principles that are evident in your intervention.

Choose a treatment approach of your choice for the target population of adults with hypertension.

Write a 900-1,000-word paper and describe how this treatment approach would be integrated in a primary care setting. Summarize the rationale for using this intervention and how it addresses the mental health problem you selected.

Describe the evidence-based research that indicates the effectiveness of this treatment approach.

Describe at least one ethical consideration as relevant to operant conditioning. Discussion should be at least 400 words.

To complete this activity,

  • Discuss the following situation from everyday life in which learning (i.e., a relatively permanent change in behavior) is desirable.
    • Biggs Boss wants his employees to arrive on time.

Prepare a plan utilizing operant conditioning principles to change the behavior of the targeted individual(s), clearly identifying and justifying suitable reinforcers or punishers to attain your desired outcome.

  • Example: If I want my son to eat his vegetables (i.e., increase a desired behavior), I could do several things.
    • If he eats his vegetables, I could apply a positive reinforcer by adding something he does like, such as screen time; alternatively, I could apply a negative reinforcer by taking away something he does not like, such as one of his weekly chores.
    • If he does not eat his vegetables, I could apply a positive punisher by adding something he does not like, such as a new weekly chore; alternatively, I could apply a negative punisher by taking away something he does like, such as screen time.
  • After you have shared your plan, discuss at least three factors that might impact the success of your plan, including social and cultural considerations.
  • Describe at least one ethical consideration as relevant to operant conditioning.
  • Discussion should be at least 400 words.

What was the goal (aim, purpose) of the researcher’s or researchers’ work? (Remember, the article has authors who have names and the work was published in a specific year—be precise in this attribution.) What were the research question and/or hypothesis?

  1. Prior writing any summary and critique of research article, consider the following:

It is a requirement to write concise summary of research article with attribution (giving credit to authors where the credit is due, in other words, writing with attribution means to clearly state whose research you summarizing and what is the year of publication, e.g., Smith (2017) claimed that ….. (p. 37).

(See also Appendix A in Cozby & Bates [2017]).

In your paper, you are concisely describing researchers’ work in a form of a summary and then you are adding a constructive critique of the work. For elements of critique, see Paul and Elder’s (2009, p. 18) or Paul and Elder’s (2019, pp. 32-33) sections about how to analyze research article or essay. Anytime you paraphrase or use direct quotations (“…..”), you will need to use page number (p. xy).

For the purposes of today write-up, read the selected article, and then in concise way, in your first paragraph, explain what you plan to do in the rest of the paper. Then summarize the following:

    From Introduction, select:

What was the goal (aim, purpose) of the researcher’s or researchers’ work? (Remember, the article has authors who have names and the work was published in a specific year—be precise in this attribution.) What were the research question and/or hypothesis?

    From Method, select:

How did the researchers go about accomplishing the research: Who were the participants (males/females, age range, any other demographical and socio-economic information)?

What kind of questionnaires, measures, scales, and/or inventories (include titles, names of authors and year of publication) did researchers use? (Attribute all pertinent information in text and in the list of References.) Is there any other technique researchers used in method section?

    From Results, select:

What were the results of the study?

    From Discussion, select:

How did the researchers interpret the results? What were the limitations of the study and suggestions for future research?

    Critique

For the purposes of this paper (and for other papers for Psych 201, 234, 338, and 436), constructively critique which part(s) of research article could be improved and how. Do not select more than two areas for improvement. If in doubt, look over Paul and Elder (2009, p. 18) or Paul and Elder (2019, pp. 32-33) about areas of research article that could be constructively critiqued. It would be sufficient to critique constructively one or two areas in a selected article.

Select at least 2-3 peer reviewed articles (dated from 2015-present) which address concerns like those Doidge discussed in the chapter of your choice.

There is a final paper/project in this course. The final project is designed to help you connect the information you learned in this course to real-life problems. I would like to see you integrate information you have learned throughout the term with current trends in neuropsychological research. For the final paper, you will write a 4-5 page paper. You are to:

  • Select one of the chapters from our Norman Doidge book, The Brain that Changes Itself.
  • Include a brief overview of the chapter and the neurological disorders/concepts Doidge examined in his chapter.
  • Select at least 2-3 peer reviewed articles (dated from 2015-present) which address concerns like those Doidge discussed in the chapter of your choice.
  • Present current research findings, what the latest treatment approaches are for the given neuropsychological concerns discussed in the chapter, as well as your insights into what the future of neuropsychological treatment for the disorder you reviewed in the Doidge chapter looks like.
  • Support the points you make in your paper with relevant sources you select.
  • Be sure to include a discussion of the evidence available for the etiology of the disorder.
  • Use APA formatting guidelines.

Note: You may use your text as a reference, however, this will not count towards your 2-3 journal article requirements. You may find articles in the library. They have a very extensive collection.
