summarize the discussion and add comments addressing how the outline and subsequent literature review can still be improved.

Discussion Instructions:

1. Students will use the Keiser University Online Library to find a minimum of five peer-reviewed journal articles (including articles found during previous weeks IF they apply to the student’s topic).  All articles must be from Psychology Journals and address a psychological construct (i.e., topic).

2. For the initial discussion post, design an outline that will be used to create the Literature Review required as part of the Week 5-7 project.  Use the following template when posting an outline for your initial discussion.

3. Students will then improve the outline during the week with the help of other students and the Professor.  Once completed, students will cut/paste the outline information and submit it as part of their Week 5 assignment, along with their annotated bibliography.

4. Attach the articles to your initial discussion post.

When responding to other students this week, help each other develop a precise topic for the Week 5-7 project.  Provide specific feedback including examples.  The following template can be used this week to create the initial discussion post.

NOTE: as always for every discussion and assignment, students must properly cite resources in-text and in a “References” list.

DISCUSSION OUTLINE TEMPLATE (after revisions, cut and paste the final outline and submit as part of the Week 5 assignment):

Hello Class,

Introduction (do not actually create a section heading called Introduction as that is assumed): provide a short paragraph introducing the reader to the main topic and the key concepts that will be addressed in the literature review assignment (Weeks 5-7).

Theme One (create a new section heading based on your topic theme): describe in 2-3 words the first main topic of your literature review. Next, briefly (4-5 sentences) describe the information you will discuss in your Literature Review paper and cite articles that will support your discussion.

EXAMPLE:  imagine a student’s topic is “Writing a Literature Review Strategies for Psychology Graduate Students”.  The first section might be “Annotated Bibliography and Outline” because that is a main theme found in the literature (DO NOT USE THIS THEME FOR YOUR PAPER).  The section description could describe how this section will define and explain the concepts (Smith, 2001; Mohammed, 2015).  The section description could also include, for example, how Section One will address how an outline and an annotated bibliography is created and formatted (Chang, 2017; Rodriguez, 2014; Conner, 2000).

Theme Two (create a new section heading based on your topic theme): describe in 2-3 words the second main topic of your literature review. Next, briefly (4-5 sentences) describe the information you will discuss in your LIterature Review paper and cite articles that will support your discussion.

Theme Three if you find one

Conclusion (a discussion and/or Conclusion section is an appropriate section heading): summarize the discussion and add comments addressing how the outline and subsequent literature review can still be improved.  Perhaps even ask for help by addressing specific questions or concerns.  For example, students might state “one of the challenges with this outline is there appears to be limited research on the topic of creating an annotated bibliography”.  This comment could help other students and the Professor provide the student with useful feedback.

What is your preferred learning environment (sound, temperature, lighting, lecture vs. hands-on vs. discussion, working with others or not, etc.)?

Discussion Board 2: Learning Styles/Personality

After reading Chapter 7: Strategic Learning and Studying & chapter 8: Test-Taking Skills and Strategies, and looking at the Learning Style Youtube clip in this module, I would like for you to answer the following questions in the Discussion Board:

1) What is your preferred learning style?

2) What is your preferred learning environment (sound, temperature, lighting, lecture vs. hands-on vs. discussion, working with others or not, etc.)?

3) What are some strategies (according to your learning style) you use to study?

Preferred Leaning Styles

Please respond to the following questions, use 12 front times new roman, proper citation 300 to 500 words

1. Learning Styles – Discussion Board

1) What is your preferred learning style? I am definitely a kinesthetic learner. I can hear something or study something but will not feel comfortable with it until I have hands on experience with it.

2) What is your preferred learning environment (sound, temperature, lighting, lecture vs. hands-on vs. discussion, working with others or not, etc.)? My preferred learning environment is in a classroom setting with others. Working with other classmates on projects really seems to help me. Good lighting is always helpful.

3) What are some strategies (according to your learning style) you use to study? I like to take notes during instruction. Since that is not possible through online classes participating in the discussions with other classmates is also a good way to study and learn. Their perspective on a topic can be a different way at looking at something that I may not have learned on my own.

2. Learning Styles – Discussion Board

My proffered learning style is visual and kinesthetic. I like studying in a bright cold room because it is harder to get tired because we all know studying is tiring. I usually just were headphones and study alone as well. Strategies I use to study include reading the content over and over again, writing down notes on the material multiple times, and using flash cards to help me.

Post an explanation of the role of theory in research. Next, identify a theory in your discipline and explain its basic tenets.

Popular usage of the word “theory” may sometimes imply a singular, often grand idea. The world, however, is complex, and the systems designed to understand it, such as theory, are often intricate in order to sufficiently explain the world as it is. Indeed, as you will learn this week, theory is nuanced, and it can also be viewed as a combination of variables, ideas, or constructs to test or advance a research question. In addition, theory tends to play a different role in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research.

For this Discussion, you will consider the role of theory in research and the relationship between theory and philosophical orientations. You will also familiarize yourself with a theory in your field so that you may become more conversant in your discipline’s theoretical foundations.

With these thoughts in mind:

By Day 4

Post an explanation of the role of theory in research. Next, identify a theory in your discipline and explain its basic tenets. Then, with this theory in mind, consider your answer to the following question posed by Dr. Burkholder in last week’s reading: “What do I have to believe about the world and about human beings in order for me to accept or use this theory?” Finally, describe the extent to which the epistemological and ontological assumptions of your chosen theory align with the philosophical orientation that reflects your worldview.

Be sure to support your Main Issue Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.

Explain your motivation focusing on your chosen topic and describe how this topic aligns with your future career goals.

Week 3 – Assignment: Choosing Your Focus

Prior to beginning this assignment, please review all the required  readings from the first three weeks as well as the articles you used in  your Week 2 Discipline-Based Literature Review. During this course, you  have been developing your knowledge in the area of learning and  cognition. In the Week 2 assignment, there was special focus on six  topics that influence a wide variety of disciplines in psychology and  other fields. In the final week of this course, you will develop a  Learning and Cognition Handbook based on these topics.

This week, you will write an extensive review and annotated bibliography on one of the six main course topics below:

  • Traditional learning theories: Operant and classical conditioning
  • Traditional learning theories: Behaviorism and social learning theory
  • Attention and memory
  • Decision-Making
  • Language acquisition
  • Organizational and lifelong learning

The topic you choose should be based on the area in which you would  most like to develop your knowledge. Your choice should also consider  your current interests in psychology and support your future career  goals.

As you prepare this assignment, keep in mind that it is designed to  assist you with beginning the process of drafting your Learning and  Cognition Handbook, which is due in Week 6. It is recommended that your  paper be checked in Grammarly (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and through Turnitin (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. prior to submission.

Include the following components in your review:

Introduction: Explain your motivation focusing on your chosen topic and describe how this topic aligns with your future career goals.

Research: Research five Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. in the Ashford University Library focusing on your chosen topic, and provide an annotated bibliography (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..  These articles must provide sufficient information so that they will  support your work in the Learning and Cognition Handbook. (See the  instructions in Week 6 for further clarification.) Provide a complete  reference for each of the five articles. Beneath each reference, provide  an annotation that explains the theoretical perspectives, historical  trends, and/or empirical research within the article that describe and  define your chosen construct.

Conclusion: Provide a concluding paragraph that  synthesizes the cognitive learning principles and theories found within  the articles as they relate to your chosen construct.
