What are any legal and ethical issues related to the proposed intervention? Include the specific APA ethical standard(s) in your response.

With so many individuals using the Internet today, the psychology of the individual, the family, the community, and the society has changed. Some might argue that the traditional psychological theories cannot be applied and therefore psychology as an entire field needs to be revamped to incorporate the impact and the application of internet technology. As a student completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology, your future career will undoubtedly incorporate the use of the Internet in very new ways. Read the following article from the AUO Library:

Ritterband, L. M., Gonder-Frederick, L., Cox, D. J., Clifton, A. D., West,
R. W., & Borowitz, S. M. (2003). Internet interventions: In review,
in use, and into the future. Professional Psychology: Research and
        Practice, 34(5), 527-534.

Identify a problem area or psychological issue that could benefit from the use of an internet intervention. Now, using what you learned from the article, propose an internet intervention using the following guidelines:

  1. What problem area would the internet intervention address?
  2. Provide a general description of the proposed internet intervention.
  3. How would the effectiveness of the proposed intervention be tested?
  4. What are any legal and ethical issues related to the proposed intervention? Include the specific APA ethical standard(s) in your response.

Assignment 2: Internet-Based Psychological Interventions

With so many individuals using the Internet today, the psychology of the individual, the family, the community, and the society has changed. Some might argue that the traditional psychological theories cannot be applied and therefore psychology as an entire field needs to be revamped to incorporate the impact and the application of internet technology. Begin your discussion by reporting your results for each of the values listed above.  Based on this output, which single value best describes this set of data and why?

For this discussion, you will organize data sets into meaningful  number groupings, calculate basic descriptive values, and communicate  written critiques of statistical analyses.

This exercise requires the use of a descriptive statistics  calculator.  You can find this tool in some versions of Excel (as part  of the Analysis ToolPak) or you can use one of the many free online descriptive calculators such as the Descriptive Statistics Calculator (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. by Calculator Soup.

To begin, come up with 20 different data points (that will form a set  of data) and enter them into the first column of an Excel spreadsheet.   The data points can be any numbers you want as long as there are 20 of  them.

You will then use the descriptive statistics option in your  descriptive statistics program or calculator.  This is explained in  Chapter 1 of your course text.  You should get an output similar to the  image in Figure 1.1.

This output must contain the following values: mean, standard error,  median, mode, standard deviation, sample variance, kurtosis, skewness,  range, minimum, maximum, sum, and count.  Address the following points  in your initial post:

  • Begin your discussion by reporting your results for each of the values listed above.
  • Based on this output, which single value best describes this set of data and why?
  • If you could pick three of these values instead of only one, which three would you choose and why?

It is important to note that the answers to these questions may be  different for each of you since you are each using unique sets of data

Read this long informative paper on Forgiveness and incorporate concepts from this paper into the Spiritual category of your Self-Care plan.

In a paper titled “My Self-Care Plan” create six level 2 headings using the six categories of Cognitive, Behavioral, Affective, Physical, Social, and Spiritual, and outline with bullets a personal self-care and stress management plan that would help you avoid burnout, compassion fatigue, and ministry stagnation. Utilize the materials used throughout the course to help support your thoughts and ideas. Don’t only think of what you can/should do, also think of things that you could/should cease doing.

I’m not interested in seeing APA style here, nor am I interested in you citing your textbook in the bullets; however, I do want to see evidence that you apply concepts from this course and have read and are following the course textbook and pdf documents and resources given. If there are outside websites or sources that can give you guidance or direction in your implementation process, feel free to use them.

Forgiveness: As part of your self-care plan under the spiritual category, consider the idea of forgiveness and how it may be implemented as part of your self-care plan. Listed below are links related to forgiveness models that involve various steps and/or processes. When considering the idea of forgiveness, many perceive this as something that takes time especially if there has been a series of events that can lead to a crisis moment such as a crisis of faith (just to name one example). As part of the healing process showing empathy as noted in the above models may be helpful. Consider when Christ was on the cross during his crisis he showed compassion for others asking God on the behalf of others to forgive them. The forgiveness portion of the paper will have a heavier weight of the grade.

To recap your assignment: In a paper titled “My Self-Care Plan” create six level 2 headings using the six categories of Cognitive, Behavioral, Affective, Physical, Social, and Spiritual, and outline with bullets a personal self-care and stress management plan that would help you (personally, not generally) avoid burnout, compassion fatigue, and ministry stagnation. The Spiritual category should be the longest as it will incorporate the forgiveness concepts. This could be a paper of up to 4-6 pages to include your APA-formatted title page. No need to include citations with the bullet points, but list references at the very end from which you culled your materials.

Please make sure your name and page numbers are embedded in the header of each page (see the APA hints).  Submit the paper using the “Self-Care Plan” submission link in the Papers & Quiz tab

Explain to the individual in the scenario, in layperson’s terms, relevant theory and research that addresses the social psychological variables involved

Social influence is pervasive. Understanding mechanisms by which our own behavior is influenced can help us intentionally shape the behavior of others.  In this discussion, we will consider various forms of social influence by creating an intervention designed to address a particular concern in one of many real world settings.

To inform your thinking on this topic, begin by reading “Harnessing the Science of Persuasion” (Cialdini, 2001), “Social Influence: Compliance and Conformity” (Cialdini & Goldstein, 2004), “Cognitive Consequences of Forced Compliance” (Festinger & Carlsmith, 1959), “Behavioral Study of Obedience” (Milgram, 1963), and “Attribution Versus Persuasion as a Means for Modifying Behavior” (Miller, Brickman, & Bolen, 1975).

Then, imagine yourself as a consultant in one of the following scenarios.  You are responsible for developing a plan to modify behavior, which will be based on social psychological insight.  Select one of the following options and design a program, supporting your answer with scholarly and peer-reviewed sources. Explain to the individual in the scenario, in layperson’s terms, relevant theory and research that addresses the social psychological variables involved.  Summarize a clear intervention strategy, formulating advice regarding future behavior.

  • A business executive seeks assistance in creating a comprehensive plan to market a product. [You may choose the product.]
  • A lawyer is requesting insight regarding jury behavior in order to achieve more favorable trial outcomes.
  • A prominent member of the community is considering a run for political office and would like advice regarding successful campaign strategies.
  • A doctor is concerned about rising rates of illness due to personal behavior and wishes to provide appropriate counsel to patients in order to change behavior for the better. [You may specify the type of illness or behaviors, as necessary.]
  • A substance abuse counselor is alarmed by recent statistics on drug and alcohol use amongst younger and younger children and would like to design a targeted program to address this issue.
  • Other (as provided/approved by your instructor)

Your initial post should be 500-1000 words in length and must contain at minimum required course resources as applicable.  Additional credible references are encouraged.
