Provide at least one specific example of an element or elements of your personality that are explained by your selected model.

Personality Theory

For your Final Paper, you will identify and synthesize the concepts and constructs of personality theory that you find to be the most accurate and appropriate in explaining personality and development.

Throughout the course, you have engaged, probed, picked apart, and evaluated the thinking of a large number of theorists who wrote during different historical periods from different disciplinary, paradigmatic, and ideological perspectives. Based on different realms of human experience, the theorists moved toward a fundamental understanding of a single topic and fundamental question: What is the human personality, and, more generally, what makes us what we are as individuals and as a species?

You have already begun this task by identifying what you feel are the most compelling concepts in the first four of the seven theoretical models covered in the course during the Week 3 Primary Concepts assignment. You will continue that process in the first part of this Personality Theory Final Paper by identifying what you find to be the most compelling concepts in the remaining three models. Then you will continue that assessment by synthesizing the concepts of personality that

  • Best explain the roles of heredity and environment.
  • Provide the best means of assessing personality.
  • Provide the best theoretical explanation for your personal journey of personality development.
  • Provide the most useful applications for you as a scholar and professional.

Your paper should be organized according to the following scheme, with sections organized under the following APA-formatted headings. Address the following specifications for each heading.

In your paper, include the following:

Introduction

Start your paper with a general, academic introduction to the topic of theories of personality.

  • Explain what you plan to cover and the direction your paper will take.

Major Concepts

In Week 3, you identified what you considered to be the most important concepts from the psychodynamic, the neurobiological, the cognitive, and the trait models of personality. In this section of the Final Paper, you will present a concept from each of the remaining three models—behavioral, interpersonal, and self-psychology models.

For each of these three concepts:

  • Apply a proper APA heading to separate the section.
  • Describe the concept.
  • Identify the theorist associated with the concept.
  • Provide a rationale for why the selected concept is the most applicable from that model.

Keep in mind that the object of this assignment is to identify and discuss a specific concept from each model and not to focus on just one model or provide overviews of the models per se.

The Roles of Heredity and Environment

In this class, we have explored the roles heredity, the environment, and epigenetics play in the development of personality. In this section,

  • Synthesize your views on how heredity and the environment affect personality development.

Assessment in Personality Theory

In this section, reflect on the various methods for assessing personality that have been presented in this course, and select one that you feel is most useful.

  • Describe briefly the assessment method that you believe is most useful in assessing personality.
  • Justify your selection of this method.

Personal Applications

In this section of the paper, reflect on your personality and address the following items:

  • Identify which of the seven models best explains your developmental journey.
  • Provide at least one specific example of an element or elements of your personality that are explained by your selected model.

Career Applications

In this section, consider how you can use the knowledge from this course as a professional, addressing the following item:

  • Explain how you can use the knowledge you have gained about personality development to help achieve your career goals.

Conclusion

Provide a brief conclusion, addressing the following:

  • Summarize the ideas presented in your synthesis of, and reflection on, personality theory.

The Personality Theory Final Paper

  • Must be eight to ten double-spaced pages in length
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted

Identify two myths or misconceptions about telework. Then, using the Learning Resources and any additional research you found, consider whether there is evidence to support the myths or misconceptions you identified.

Telework, telecommuting, remote work, virtual work, working from home, mobile work—there are many terms used to describe work that is done from an employee’s home or from another alternative worksite other than the traditional work environment. The term “telework” was first used in the 1970s and gained traction in the 1980s and 1990s, when organizations began to embrace telework, particularly federal agencies. At the time, scholars argued that telework was the wave of the future and would continue to grow exponentially in the years to come. While telework has increased, it has not grown to the extent that scholars predicted. One reason is that many myths and misconceptions about telework still persist. Another is that there is a great deal of uncertainty about how to effectively lead virtual employees and teams from a distance.

In this Discussion, you will explore myths and misconceptions of telework. You will also discuss how virtual leadership is different from face-to-face leadership and identify effective strategies to lead virtual employees and teams.

To Prepare:

  • Read this week’s Learning Resources about telework and leading virtual employees and teams.
  • Identify two myths or misconceptions about telework. Then, using the Learning Resources and any additional research you found, consider whether there is evidence to support the myths or misconceptions you identified.
  • Think about how virtual leadership differs from face-to-face leadership and the unique challenges that virtual leaders might encounter.
  • Identify two leadership strategies that you think are most useful for leading virtual employees and teams.

By Day 4

Describe two myths or misconceptions about telework, and explain whether there is evidence to support each. Then explain how virtual leadership is different from face-to-face leadership. Finally, propose two strategies for leading virtual employees and teams. Be sure that the strategies address one or more of the following issues: building relationships with followers from afar, ensuring productivity, promoting employee engagement, and increasing employee motivation.

Briefly discuss the issues involved when programs must design plans that are suitable for their community when current literature does not provide evidence-based practices for all aspects of programs that are needed.

Literature Review of Similar Programs, Interventions

Use the library to conduct a literature review of the types of programs and clinical interventions that exist for the population and area of clinical concern that are addressed in the hypothetical program you will be evaluating. Then, prepare a post that reviews the following:

  • What programs already exist that address the clinical concern that is the focus of the hypothetical program in your community? Provide examples of published interventions used to help with this clinical area of concern—such as cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, family therapy, et cetera—or techniques drawn from these or other theories. For example, in vivo exposure therapy (a technique) is based on behavioral theory and is accruing evidence of effectiveness for reducing PTSD symptoms (a clinical concern) among veterans (a population with unique needs). Integrate, cite, and reference at least two peer-reviewed journal articles to support this section of your post.
  • How does your hypothetical program address the clinical area of concern for the population it seeks to serve? Provide an explanation of the treatment intervention or clinical program that it uses, which might be a variation on the interventions or programs you found in the literature. For example, the program in your community might seek to serve female veterans with PTSD, but you might not find any research that specifically evaluates treatments for female veterans.
  • Briefly discuss the issues involved when programs must design plans that are suitable for their community when current literature does not provide evidence-based practices for all aspects of programs that are needed. How can formative and process evaluation bridge this gap? Integrate, cite, and reference your textbook and at least one peer-reviewed journal article that has been assigned for this course in Units 1–3.

How do different parts of the brain influence our behavior? How do central nervous system depressants, such as alcohol, affect our behavior?

Dis 2

Which school of psychology from Chapter 1 was most influential, in your opinion? Explain your choice as well as providing insight on any schools you almost chose but decided were not influential. You are only responsible for detailing information on one school of psychology.

Cite any sources you used to support your answers to the question. Your initial post must include appropriate APA references at the end.

Dis 3

How do different parts of the brain influence our behavior? How do central nervous system depressants, such as alcohol, affect our behavior?

Dis 4

Psychologists recognize that, in most cases, nature (genes) and nurture (environment) jointly affect human behavior and development. Please choose an aspect of child development and discuss the relative contributions of nature and nurture, supported by specific findings and theories you found in the assigned readings.

DIs 5

Sensation refers to an actual event; perception refers to how we interpret the event. What are some cultural differences that might affect responses to particular stimuli, particularly in taste and pain? Post your discussion using information from the text to support your views.

Dis 6

Most of us feel like we never get enough sleep. What are the stages of sleep and what is the importance of sleep? What are some common sleep disorders and treatments? Support your post with material from the assigned reading.
