If you cross the pure-breeding wild-type violets with the pure-breeding mutant violets and self the F1, how many different phenotypic classes will you have in the F2 generation?

Normally, wild violets have yellow petals with dark brown markings and erect stems. Imagine you discover a mutant plant with white petals, no markings, and prostrate stems.

Assume that the mutant phenotypes are due to the pleiotropic effects of a single gene where the wild-type allele is completely dominant to the mutant allele. If you cross the pure-breeding wild-type violets with the pure-breeding mutant violets and self the F1, how many different phenotypic classes will you have in the F2 generation?

Racism: Past and Present

To Prepare

  • Review the assigned essays from the text by Adams et al.
  • Review the Required Media—the podcast and the video—in the Learning Resources this week.
  • Research and select a historical event—older than 5 years—as it relates to racism. This can be any event you believe is important in understanding racism in the U.S.
  • Research and select a current event—within the past 12 months—as it relates to racism. This can be any event you believe is important in understanding racism in the U.S.

Submit a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

Describe the historical event and how it exposes racism, either overtly or through more subtle actions due to the systemic nature of the problem. Please include the following in your description:

  • Overview of the event, including the general time period, inciting incident, and parties involved.
  • Outcome of the event, including any major social or political changes as a result.
  • Connection to social work, either through its  impact on ongoing research in the field or on the treatment of populations.

Describe the current event and how it exposes racism, either overtly or through more subtle actions due to the systemic nature of the problem. Please include the following in your description:

  • Overview of the event, including the time period, inciting incident, and parties involved.
  • Outcome of the event, including any major social or political changes as a result (if there is no immediate outcome, share possible or proposed outcomes).
  • Connection to social work, either through its impact on ongoing research in the field or on the treatment of populations.

Then, compare the two events. Consider the following to help guide your comparison:

  • How were the causes of the two events similar?
  • How were the causes of the two events different?
  • Did the outcome of the historical event have any positive impacts on the response to the current event? If not, explain how the systemic nature of racism may have played a role in this lack of      progress.
  • How have both events impacted social work? Explain how the profession may have responded differently in each time period.
  • How would you rate U.S. social and political progress toward addressing systemic racism based on these two events?

APA Format. Please use all sources within the paper. Conclusion of paper the overall paper at the end.

I have provided my annotated biblography for the topic i choose, please use it.

For this assignment you will submit a 12 – 14 page paper, not including the title and reference pages, that critically analyzes evidence-based, peer-reviewed literature relevant to the course focus, crisis and emergency intervention.   The paper will include brief summaries of the 8 – 10 articles focused on a topic in common retrieved from the APUS Online Library and described briefly in an Annotated Bibliography, the latter of which will be submitted separately by the end of Week 4 of the course. Points possible for the Annotated Bibliography are part of the total paper points.  Papers submitted without it having been turned in by the Week 4 as required will receive a 25% point deduction before review and grading for the other paper requirements noted below.  The article summaries in this paper must be logically connected with clear articulations of how they are related to one another. This is done via transition statements between descriptions of the various summaries such that the paper interweaves all the articles into a coherent and well-articulated review of scholarly publications related to the selected paper topic focus. For example, after one article summary, the statement, “Related research conducted by Jones (2011) showed that…” would be an effective means of connecting it to another summary. The paper will end with a minimum of two substantive paragraphs summarizing points made and articulating suggestions for future research directions arising from the article reviews. This assignment submission will be evaluated based on: The degree to which the article summaries are related and truly integrated within the paper; lack of supporting evidence of actual connections between the articles will result in a significant point deduction. The inclusion of two required conclusion paragraphs that not only summarizes points made in the paper but also suggests directions for future research based on the articles reviewed. Evidence of academically mature insight and use of critical thinking skills in analyzing and relating the articles. Clear and thorough articulation of the paper’s key points. Compliance with APA paper formatting and source crediting standards. Paraphrasing of materials read with no copying word-for-word from them permitted. Minimal to no grammar, spelling or basic writing errors
