Identify which stage of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs you are currently experiencing. Explain which level you hope to experience in the future.

Background

In psychology, personality theorists have sought to understand the traits and other factors that determine our very nature. Some of these factors are innate, and others seem to be shaped by environmental forces. Each theory takes a different approach to understanding personality. Familiarity with theories of personality will help you to understand and organize behaviors that you observe in others and yourself.

Instructions

Part I: Apply each of the four personality theories to your personal life experience by answering the following questions.

  • The Five Factor Model of Personality: Explain where you fall on each of the five dimensions or traits in this theory. Discuss whether you feel you were “born with” this trait or if you feel this trait developed through experiences in your environment (such as family experiences or other learning experiences). Based on your experience, explain whether personality traits are primarily biological (innate) or environmental(learned) (Nature vs. Nurture).
  • Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory: Describe how social learning theory played an influence in your own personality development. Identify whose behavior you modeled and provide specific details to describe the ways in which their behavior influenced you.
  • Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: Identify which stage of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs you are currently experiencing. Explain which level you hope to experience in the future.
  • Freudian Theory of Personality Structure: Regarding your own personality functioning, provide an example of how your own Id, Ego, and Superego might all work together to help you meet your needs and have a successful life. Many contemporary psychologists disagree with Freud, and do not believe that the unconscious mind plays an important role in every day behavior. Based on your readings in psychology, as well as your own experiences, do you believe that the unconscious mind is important in everyday life? Why or why not?

Your response should be a 3–4-page Microsoft Word document written in a clear, concise, and organized manner. Be sure to demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources (i.e., APA); and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Part II: Psychological Autobiography

In this course, you have applied several theories and concepts from psychology to your own life. In this part, you will re-write the Autobiography submitted inModule 1 using the material you explored throughout the course.

  1. In your Psychological Autobiography, describe your life in a way that incorporates 12–15 terms and concepts you learned in this class. You do not need to analyze your struggles in this assignment, or disclose sensitive material. The purpose of the assignment is to simply apply the concepts we explored throughout the course to your own life history in an everyday manner.
  1. In your Psychological Autobiography, you may use any terms, research, concepts, or theories covered in class, however, you must use terms and ideas from at least five of the following theorists or perspectives:
    • Piaget
    • Erikson
    • Kohlberg
    • Eysenck
    • Bandura
    • Maslow
    • Freud

There is room for creativity in this assignment! What is most important is that you show the instructor how much you have learned in this course by applying several theories, terms, or concepts to your life storyAt a minimum, you should use information from your lectures and readings in this portion of the paper. This portion of the LASA assignment should be 2–3 pages in length. Here are some suggestions for developing your Psychological Autobiography:

  • Write your life history according to one or more of the developmental stage theories.
  • Apply key concepts to your early development.
  • Explain how the concepts apply to your current life situation.

Compare and contrast the paradigms or worldviews inherent in the methodology associated with each research design. Apply professional standards and situate yourself as a researcher by identifying which of these approaches best fits with your worldview.

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review the qualitative and quantitative research designs encountered so far in this course.

For your literature review, you will select one design from each of the following categories.

Category Non-experimental Quantitative experimental Qualitative Mixed methods
Designs Descriptive
Archival
Observational
Correlational
Survey research
Pretest-posttest control group
Posttest-only control group
Solomon four-group
Ethnography
Phenomenology
Grounded theory
Narrative
Participatory action research (PAR)
Explanatory
Exploratory
Triangulation
Parallel

Visit the Research Methods research guide in the Ashford University Library and search the databases for a minimum of one peer-reviewed journal article published within the last 10 years about each of the research designs you selected. The articles must not be research studies using the designs. Instead, they must be about how to conduct a study using the design. Examples of acceptable articles for this assignment are listed at the Suggested Articles tab in the Research Methods research guide.

In your paper, briefly outline the topic you selected for your Final Research Proposal in Week One and apply the scientific method by suggesting both a specific research question and a hypothesis for the topic. Evaluate your chosen peer-reviewed articles summarizing each and explaining how the research design described could be useful for designing original research on your topic. Compare and contrast the paradigms or worldviews inherent in the methodology associated with each research design. Apply professional standards and situate yourself as a researcher by identifying which of these approaches best fits with your worldview.

The Research Methods Literature Review

Write a short abstract summarizing the important details in the article. To get a sense of the structure, feel free to lookup other journal articles or consider using the articles from previous assignments as examples.

For assignment 3, you will read a peer-reviewed journal article related to this week’s topics. You will notice that the article is missing some key components. Namely, the article is missing a title, abstract, and a conceptual model that offers a visual representation of the relationships being tested. Therefore, your task this week is to populate the pieces that are missing from this journal article. The purpose of this assignment is to identify and succinctly describe the central elements of the article and provide some explanation of what the researchers were examining.

As a first step, read the study, then address the items below (1.5 points per item):

  1. Write a short abstract summarizing the important details in the article. To get a sense of the structure, feel free to lookup other journal articles or consider using the articles from previous assignments as examples. At a minimum, abstracts for journal articles should include (a) the purpose of the study (including a breakdown of the research questions), (b) a description of the research design, (c) major findings from the study (or studies), and (d) a brief summary of interpretations and conclusions. Do not copy complete sentences directly from the article, you should be able to paraphrase these different pieces in your own words. Typically, abstracts are approximately 250 words or less (most journal publications are very strict about this!).
  2. Draw a conceptual model. Visual diagrams help an audience understand the relationships being examined among variables. For this, you’ll first want to identify the focal variables in the article (HINT: There are four–not including controls, and they are the same in studies 1 and 2). Next, you’ll want to diagram the relationships being tested using shapes and arrows to display the variables and direction of the relationships. This can be done in MS Word or PowerPoint (and most word processing applications). In case it helps, here are some templatesPreview the document (HINT: you can draw the relationships as one model or two separate models, your choice). Also, make sure the model captures each hypothesis that is being tested as determined by the arrows in your diagram.
  3. Provide a brief explanation of the model. Now that you have visualized the model, provide an explanation for what the model posits. Specifically, what is the relationship between the independent (predictors) and dependent (outcomes) variables (i.e., positive, negative? Strong, moderate, weak?). What about mediators or moderators (if any)? (HINT: this can probably be explained in 3-4 sentences or less).
  4. Come up with a title for this study. Be as creative as you like, but keep it concise and make sure it captures the article’s main contribution.

Describe in 500 words the disaster recovery plan and who is responsible at your place of employment. Consider the critical business functions and your recovery point objectives and recovery time objectives.

Work #1:

Describe in 500 words the disaster recovery plan and who is responsible at your place of employment. Consider the critical business functions and your recovery point objectives and recovery time objectives.

Use at least three sources. Use the Research Databases available from the Danforth Library, not Google.   Include at least 3 quotes from your sources enclosed in quotation marks and cited in-line by reference to your reference list.  Example: “words you copied” (citation) These quotes should be one full sentence not altered or paraphrased. Cite your sources using APA format. Use the quotes in your paragaphs.

Write in essay format not in bulleted, numbered or other list format.

It is important that you use your own words, that you cite your sources, that you comply with the instructions regarding length of your post and that you reply to two classmates in a substantive way (not ‘nice post’ or the like).  Your goal is to help your colleagues write better. Do not use spinbot or other word replacement software. Proof read your work or have it edited. Find something interesting and/or relevant to your work to write about.

Work #2:

Managerial Challenge

After reading the section titled “Dominant Microprocessor Company Intel Adapts to Next Trend” (Chapter 11 pg. 384-385) and the article titled “2018-2019 Intel Corporate Responsibility Report: Creating Value through Transparency,” complete a list of (4-5) reasons how Intel comes to dominate some markets. List (3) reasons why Apple would depart from a dominant corporation like Intel. Although this assignment allows you to create a list, you must follow the APA style of writing and include research to support your list, and place this information in your reference section.

Submission Details:

  • Response should be no less than 250 words
  • Follow the APA style of writing with in-text citations and a reference list.
