◦Provide a brief conclusion describing the overall plan for recommendations.

Final Case Study and Recommendations

In this assignment, you will finalize your case study making
recommendations for needed services and planning for their
implementation. You will create two documents for this assignment, one
paper of 8–10 pages as the final course project and a PowerPoint
presentation of 8–10 slides with speakers notes. The PowerPoint
presentation should be made to a hypothetical team of professionals
working on the issues in your case study. It should summarize your
analysis of the case study including theoretical orientation and
recommended service implementation.

Paper – In Unit 5, you conducted a literature review, which most
likely revealed many new perspectives, approaches, and solutions to
problems. This week, you will revise your submissions from Unit 3, 5
and 7 to construct your final course paper. Each of those units should
be combined to create one document that is integrated and presents a
holistic perspective of human service theories, service delivery
models, and roles. Respond to any questions related to ethical
conflicts and dilemmas presented in Unit 3. Incorporate
recommendations for the case study and what functions each of the
human service professionals will perform in the case study.

PowerPoint – Your PowerPoint presentation should include the following:
•Introduction ◦Provide an overview of the case study you have chosen
to focus on for your final course paper.

•Areas for exploration and next steps ◦In more detail, describe 2–3
big ideas you have already started to uncover because of your
literature review. Describe the roles and responsibilities of the
human service professionals you selected for your case study. Cite the
Ethical Standards for Human Services Professionals linked in the
Resources as you discuss ethical considerations.

•Conclusion ◦Provide a brief conclusion describing the overall plan
for recommendations.

Discussion 1: Developmental Challenges in Middle Adulthood

All we know about the future is that it will be different.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Adulthood has a way of spurring a false sense of stability and predictability. For example, adults who have settled into a successful career and family routine often start each morning with a clear vision of what the day will bring. However, what happens when the unexpected happens? How do unforeseen circumstances such as a natural disaster, medical complication, car accident, layoff, an unfaithful partner, or addiction alter one’s life path and overall happiness? These are events that may lead someone to see a counselor. As such, counselors must equip themselves with a wide range of strategies and approaches that will support their adult clients as they create counseling goals and interventions.

For this Discussion, review this week’s media, “Middle Adulthood.”Focus on your assigned client in your case study family. Before crafting your post, also consider the points raised in the media, “Perspectives: Middle Adulthood.”

Post by Day 3 a conceptualization of the client that you were assigned. Then, describe two developmental challenges associated with that client. Finally, describe two potential counseling goals and two interventions you could use for the client using a wellness perspective. Justify your response with references to this week’s Learning Resources and the current literature. Be specific.

Discuss two ethical issues that the forensic professional should consider when choosing between these two models of offender rehabilitation.

The process of rehabilitation has two broad aims: helping the offender identify and change maladaptive patterns of thinking and behavior and reintegrating the offender into the community in a way that does not compromise public safety. In this module, your assigned readings have exposed you to two different models of sex offender rehabilitation: the RNR model and the GLM.

Using the module’s readings, online library resources, the Internet, and professional literature, conduct additional research on the RNR model and the GLM.

Based on your research, respond to the following:

  • Briefly describe the essential features of the RNR model and the GLM and analyze their strengths.
  • Provide an opinion about whether both models are equally effective in enhancing community safety.
  • Provide an opinion about whether both models are equally effective in promoting offender welfare.
  • Discuss two ethical issues that the forensic professional should consider when choosing between these two models of offender rehabilitation.

Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Your response should rely upon at least two additional sources from the professional literature. Professional literature may include  online library resources, relevant textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (.edu, .gov, and the apa.org website).

Compile your research in a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document.

Grading Criteria:

– Described the essential features of the RNR model and the GLM and analyzed

their strengths.

– Provided an opinion about whether both models are equally effective in

enhancing community safety.

– Provided an opinion about whether both models are equally effective in

promoting offender welfare.

– Discussed two ethical issues that the forensic professional should consider when

choosing between these two models of offender rehabilitation.

– Wrote in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrated ethical

scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and displayed

accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
