Provide a current state of accumulated knowledge as it relates to the specific topic, integrating the core specializations. Summarize the general state of the literature on the topic

Literature Review: You will do 6 literature reviews pretaining to your specific course and topic. Reviews literature related to the unifying/overarching them within the core specializations identified. The focus of the literature review is to determine how the topic has been addressed in the available research literature, extending knowledge in the field by synthesizing research literature from the core areas within the primary topic. Provide a current state of accumulated knowledge as it relates to the specific topic, integrating the core specializations. Summarize the general state of the literature on the topic.

The literature review section should begin with a description of the literature search strategy including (not limited to):

  • Keywords used
  • Databases searched
  • Years included
  • Results yielded
  • Results excluded

The following should be included in the literature review section:

  • Research studies should be summarized with detail, including the findings, how they were obtained, and any biases and limitations affecting the findings.
  • Significant or noteworthy similarities and differences among core areas and the unifying theme should be highlighted.
  • Provide critical analyses of available research literature.
  • Conclusion that summarizes the section.

Discussion: Articulate the importance of the findings of the literature reviewed; explain why these findings are important to the field of psychology. Make recommendations for future research based on the literature reviewed and explain the rationale for the recommendations.

This section should include:

  • Synthesis of the research literature, redeveloping conceptualizations of existing paradigms, or proposing new paradigms.
  • Extending of knowledge through the integration of the literature review findings.
  • Supported recommendations for future research.
  • Conclusion summarizing the major elements of the project

Basically, these papers require you to digest a study related to personality psychology and to connect it to the assigned reading, to current events, and to something about yourself.

I have attached the article that needs to be used at the bottom of this assignment.

Step One (required): Please watch this youtube video (https://youtu.be/uxKZ_DFaGlI ) that outlines the overall project for you. I recorded this for a *different* on-line class, so the info. will vary ‘a bit’. However, for the most part, the info. applies to this class as well.

Step Two (required): Please review this description of the assignment (Assignment adapted from Marc W. Patry at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada). You should prepare concise (maximum 6 double-spaced typed pages, standard margins and 12-point font size) papers which include four enumerated sections: 1) summary and analysis (e.g., strengths & weaknesses) of a primary-source empirical article related to personality psychology that I assign, 2) tie-in between the article I assign and a concept from the assigned reading that we discuss in class, 3) relationship between the article I assign and a recent news story that you find on your own (attach a newspaper clipping to your paper), and 4) some connection of this topical area to your own life and personal interests.

These elements must be enumerated in your papers. Basically, these papers require you to digest a study related to personality psychology and to connect it to the assigned reading, to current events, and to something about yourself. Feel free to be creative about how you meet these objectives. I expect these papers to be highly varied, colorful, thoughtful and well written. Make sure to have fun with these papers! Your grades for these papers will be on a 30-point basis: up to six points for each of the four elements, and up to six points for writing (e.g., grammar, flow). These papers are to be no longer than six double-spaced typed pages of text (12-point font, standard margins). Be aware that you will be penalized if you exceed the six-page text limit (or effectively exceed it by using less than double spacing, reducing margin size or text size, etc.).

Step Three (optional): Please watch this Youtube video to learn more about reading empirical journal articles (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2K6mJkSWoA). Journal articles are not the same as popular press articles (e.g., magazine articles). If you have limited prior experience with reading and reviewing journal articles, you may find it helpful to take a look at the Youtube video that is linked above. That video outlines the major parts of the empirical journal articles and how to effectively direct your attention as you read these types of articles. The following also is another Youtube video that you might want to check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BuE138KK18.

Step Four (optional): Please take a look at some examples; I’ve posted two on the BB page for this class. Please feel free to take a look at these as you begin to prepare your own papers. A word to the  wise: DO NOT use these papers as word-for-word templates. Instead, use them as examples for formatting your paper.

Step Five (required): This is the article about which you will write your paper. Read the whole thing so that your review can reflect depth (and be eligible for full credit). Panagopoulos, C., & Lehrfeld J.M. (2015) Big Five Personality Traits and Occupy Wall Street. Psychology,06,1597-1563. doi: 10.4236/psych.2015.615193

Discuss the research, considering the various elements of a critical review (see Using a Scientific Journal Article to Write a Critical Review) with reference to/explanation of the more broad social-pychological domain (social thinking, social relations, social influence).

One of the central premises of social psychology is the power of the situation. The very definition of social psychology reflects this, pointing out the influence of others on thoughts, feelings, and actions.  In this discussion, we will consider contextualization by evaluating the fundamental and far-reaching role of culture.

To inform your thinking on this topic, begin by reading “Toward a Psychological Science for a Cultural Species” (Heine & Norenzayan, 2006), “Lessons Learned from a Lifetime of Applied Social Psychological Research” (Ross, 2004), and “Reflections on the Stanford Prison Experiment: Genesis, Rransformations, Consequences” (Zimbardo, Maslach, & Haney, 2000).

Then, locate a peer-reviewed empirical article (see Scholarly, Peer Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources) describing a research study that examines a psychological phenomenon from a cultural perspective.  Discuss the research, considering the various elements of a critical review (see Using a Scientific Journal Article to Write a Critical Review) with reference to/explanation of the more broad social-pychological domain (social thinking, social relations, social influence).  Appraise the role of culture in our psychological understanding of this phenomenon.  Assess the relevance of one “lesson” of applied psychology (Ross, 2004) to your selected study.

Your initial post should be 500-1000 words in length and must contain a minimum of one scholarly, peer-reviewed reference, in addition to required course resources as applicable.  Additional credible references are encouraged.

Be sure to support and justify your positions and conclusions with references to relevant library resources. All written assignments should follow APA requirements.

Many of us have experienced stress at least at one point in our lives. In chapter 1, in our Organizational Stress text, you will learn about key terms related to stress as well as theoretical concepts.

For this assignment, you will use the aforementioned chapters to write a seven-page paper discussing how you handle stress and at least one theoretical concept dealing with stress. The theoretical concept you will select will be one with which you can personally identify.

Be sure to support and justify your positions and conclusions with references to relevant library resources. All written assignments should follow APA requirements.

The inclusion of both textbooks and one outside references (a total of three), retrieved from the university library, is required for the completion of this paper.

Assignment: Theory of Stress

Objective of Exercise: Many of us have experienced stress at least at one point in our lives.

The inclusion of both textbooks and two outside references, retrieved from the university library, is required for the completion of this paper.
