4C Assignments

Writing the Report
4C assignments are analysis and a report, not essays. For the most part, you will not be writing a great deal of prose in this document. For large sections of the paper, you will simply list information using headings, brief paragraphs, and lists. However, the instructions request that you provide some brief commentary and critical analysis of the information you are listing. I strongly recommend that you use headers to indicate each of the required element and commentary sections. This will make it much easier for others to grade and will improve your score.

In some cases, there may be much more information available than you can realistically include in your 4C document. In this situation, use the required page count (given in each assignment) as a guide for when to cut back. DO NOT WRITE EXTRA. When deciding what to cut, be sure to include content for most or all the requested information rather than fill up the entire space with one topic.
A great deal of this paper will be copied and pasted from external sources. To avoid plagiarism, you will need to cite your sources using footnotes. Simply place the URL or source title in the footnotes at the bottom of the page and place a numeral after the quoted content.

The paper should be 1.15 spaced. MAKE THE DOCUMENT BEAUTIFUL, a joy to read! Your first priority is making it easy to draw information from the document! Your paper should remain anonymous so do not include your name.

INSTRUCTIONS

Write a 1 to 2 -page paper including the elements and commentary listed below. Do not include your name on the assignment.

For this 4C assignment, you will create a structure audit for an organization you find interesting. The purpose is for you to gain insight into how a companys structure can be purposefully created and used to diagnose and correct potential problems.

ELEMENTS

Identify the key elements of the companys structure. Include the following items:

          Org Chart an organizational chart illustrating significant roles within the company.

          Job descriptions Select 2-3 of the roles from the org chart and include or write a brief job description.

          Dr. GRACs for each job description Dr. Grac (Desired Results, Guidelines, Resources, Accountability, and Consequences). See the sample OB projects for examples of what Dr. Gracs looks like.

          Recruiting plan Briefly describe the methods the company uses to recruit and hire employees to fulfill its required roles.

COMMENTARY

Provide analysis for the following questions:

          How are organizational roles aligned with the strategy?

          Do you believe that these roles are designed well to achieve the strategy? Why or why not?

          What is the connection between the 1) strategy, 2) the written job descriptions, 3) what employees believe in their minds about their role, and 4) the actual performance of the company?

Process mapping assignment | MGMT 3620 | Middle Tennessee State University

Introduction
This assignment will provide an opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned about process mapping.
Assignment #1 (10 points):
Write a narrative describing the process illustrated in the diagram below.

1.Narrative of hiring process / step by step
2. (
Assignment #2 (10 points)
Using the process described below, fill in the text boxes within the colored areas of the process map on the following page to illustrate the process narrative below. Be sure to give your diagram a descriptive title.
Students are required to prepare and submit registration forms. The administration reviews forms for completeness. Completed forms are sent to the registrar to verify all appropriate details. Incomplete forms are returned to the student.
The registrar will determine if minimum standards are met. If the minimum standards are not met, the student’s registration is rejected. The registrar prepares a rejection letter, sends it to the student, and adds the letter to the student’s personal file.
Approved registrations are forwarded to faculty advisors for further evaluation. Faculty advisors make the final decision on admission. Based on the decision, Faculty Advisors will prepare acceptance or rejection letters to send to students and add to students’ personal files.

Part #3 (40 points):
This assignment’s final part requires you to create a process diagram (in swim lane format) for a Coffee Café. The assignment includes the simple concept of ordering, making, and providing Coffee or Tea in a typical Café. To keep the job manageable, the only drinks that are available are:
· Coffee
· Tea
Assume that the processes to order, prepare, and deliver the hot beverage are similar to those in any large coffee chain. The processes include:
· Orders and cash are taken by the Serving Attendant / Cashier from the Customer;
· Orders taken by the Serving Attendant / Cashier are passed to a Barista automatically and shown on a screen for fulfillment by a Barista;
· There are separate processes for preparing tea and coffee;
· Completed orders are provided to the Customer by the Barista;
· The Barista can also request additional milk and coffee beans to be obtained from the storeroom by the kitchen hands or additional stock to be ordered by the Café Manager; and
· The Customer can select the Sugar or Sweetener of their choice from a serving bar, located at the point where Customers receive their beverage. There are two parts to this assignment:
Using Microsoft PowerPoint, create a process, swimlane diagram of the coffee café process outlined above. Replicate the type of swimlane diagram discussed in the videos for this module entitled Process Map.mp4 and used in assignment #2 above. An example screenshot from the video is below.
Notes: You should submit two documents to D2L. You should submit a Word document with parts #1 and #2 and a Powerpoint document with your diagram for part #3. Please also keep in mind that all process maps must have a title, swim lane titles, all steps connected, and every step, decision, and decision path labeled. Please name your PowerPoint file as follows: ProcessFlow.pptx
