2. (Financial Systems in Higher Education) Analyze the characteristics and components for an effective and supportive financial system, and the implications for effective leadership in
relating the financial operations and academics. Consider if the spending and pricing trends have implications for leaders?
3. (New Lines of Inquiry – Diversity & Social Movement) Develop a Discussion Question from Chapter 8: Diversity or Chapter 9: Social Movements & The University from your Bastedo textbook,
which you are then to moderate (some of the lecture material maybe be helpful here)?
Read the questions already posted and do not repeat a question asked by another student, the two chapters give you a lot of scope. Your question should relate directly to an issue discussed in the
text and should require a thoughtful response from your class colleagues. Do not ask a question that can be answered by looking the answer up. Terms like; attitude, opinion, application,
analysis…. …usually develop thoughtful responses.
Moderation and Participation in the student led discussion consists of the following 4 steps:
• As the Moderator, post your original question, try to do this by Day 3 of Week 6 so make the reading of Chapter 8 & 9 an early priority. This becomes your Discussion Question thread, and
you are the leader. Your task is to facilitate the discussion of this thread for the remainder of Week 6.
• As the Moderator try to respond to every student who responds to you.
• Read the Discussion Questions posted by other students and respond to at least three of them, I suggest those that prove most interesting and beneficial to you
• Continue with Participation in the discussion threads until Week 6 is over.
