This week you will find empirical research to inform the question Is child-centered therapy effective?
Is child-centered therapy effective? While it would be impossible to conclusively answer this question with a single research study, there are countless studies that provide insight on this issue. You task this week is to locate 3 peer-reviewed, journal articles that investigate some aspect of the effectiveness of child-centered therapy. The articles do not need to directly answer the big question of is child-centered therapy effective? but may report on smaller, supporting issues that inform this question.

After you locate and read the article, write a reaction paper response to the question Is child-centered therapy effective? Within your response, you must include APA style citations to give credit to the findings of each study. Remark on expertise of the author(s), any obvious biases in each article, and the coverage of the theory. The conclusion of your paper should summarize what the three studies combine to tell you about child-centered therapy.

As explained by Adler, children with a pattern of misbehavior are usually pursuing one of four mistaken goals: attention, power, revenge, and inadequacy or withdrawal. Understanding the goal for which a misbehaving child is striving helps put the behavior in perspective and provides a basis for corrective action.
Recall an incident when you observed a child misbehaving. Using that incident, discuss your reactions, interpretations, and interventions as a function of the four goals of misbehavior. Is individual therapy a useful process for promoting behavior change in children?
