This assignment should include the following:

Two set of notes (one for each respondent) outlining and/or detailing the answers given to your interview questions by each respondent, including answers to new questions you may have decided to ask as you conducted your interviews. Note: If you video or audio recorded your interviews, you need to take time to listen to the interviews and collect thorough written notes on the answers given.
For each set of notes, identify the respondent whose answers are listed, as well as whether each respondent was representative or an expert. I am going to be writing about how good of a predictor is standardized testing for college academic success. One of the sources I decided to use for my writing argues comparing other modes of assessing students’ performances that do not have to deal with standardization techniques. The second source I chose to use mainly talks about the impact of standardization of tests on improving students’ memory retention. This source will help me dive deep into whether or not standardized tests help with memory or don’t.

Guiding question: Are standardized tests actually beneficial in predicting our college success?

The first person I chose to interview was Lindsey Kiracoffe. Lindsey will be a representative respondent, and she currently is working at Saint Elizabeth as a nurse. Lindsey is someone I went to school with, and someone who can give their opinion on testing because she already went through it.

1. Should children with learning disabilities test on standardized testing?

2. Do standardized tests present ethical issues for students?

3. Do teachers over-emphasize testing and skill preparation because of all the pressure?

4. Have you ever over-emphasized a test?

5. Have you ever studied so hard but still managed to do poorly on a standardized test?

6. Do you think standardized tests can cause anxiety to an extent?

7. Do you think you should have to pass a standardized test to graduate?

The next person I chose to interview was Riley Anderson who is also a representative respondent, but I’m hoping to find an expert respondent. Riley is a Teacher at Clinton prairie and knows all about standardized testing.

8. How well do you think standardized testing measures your abilities?

9. Do you know students who try to cheat on standardized tests?

10. How much of what’s taught in school is present on standardized tests?

11. How can you tell if students have actually learned or met the standards of the tests?

12. Do you think they should change their writing standards for the tests?

Prior to beginning work on this week’s journal, read the PSY650 Week Four Treatment Plan , Case 15: Borderline Personality Disorder in Gorenstein and Comer (2014), and Borderline Personality Disorder in Sneed et al., . (2012). Please also read the Rizvi, et al. (2013), “An Overview of Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Professional Psychologists,” Harned, et al.  (2013), “Treatment Preference Among Suicidal and Self-Injuring Women with Borderline Personality Disorder and PTSD,” Miller (2006), “Telehealth Issues in Consulting Psychology Practice,”  and Luxton, et al. (2011), “mHealth for Mental Health: Integrating Smartphone Technology in Behavioral Healthcare” articles.

Assess the evidence-based practices implemented in this case study. In your paper, include the following.

  • Explain the connection between each theoretical orientation used by Dr. Bank’s and the interventions utilized in the case.
  • Describe the concept of dialectical behavior therapy, being sure to include the six main points of this type of treatment.
  • Explain Dr. Banks’s primary goal during the pre-treatment stage and how Dr. Banks related this to Karen in her initial therapy sessions.
  • Describe the two formats that Dr. Banks told Karen would be part of her treatment program.
  • Describe the focus of the second and third stages of treatment.
  • Assume the role of a consulting clinical or counseling psychologist on this case, and recommend at least one technology-based e-therapy tool that would be useful. Explain liability issues related to delivering e-therapy consultation, supporting your response with information from the Miller (2006), “Telehealth Issues in Consulting Psychology Practice” article.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment interventions implemented by Dr. Banks supporting your statements with information from the case and two to three peer-reviewed articles from the Ashford University Library, in addition to those required for this week.
  • Recommend three additional treatment interventions that would be appropriate in this case. Use information from the Sneed, Fertuck, Kanellopoulos, and Culang-Reinlieb (2012), “Borderline Personality Disorder” article to help support your recommendations. Justify your selections with information from the case.

 PSY650 Week Four Treatment Plan   Behaviorally Defined Symptoms: Karen displays extreme emotional reactions at the hint of perceived abandonment in a relationship. There is a history of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships, impulsive behaviors, and recurrent suicidal gestures.  Diagnostic Impression: Borderline Personality Disorder  Long-Term Goal: Terminate self-harming behaviors (substance abuse, cutting, and suicidal behaviors).  Short-Term Goal: Reduce the frequency of maladaptive behaviors, thoughts, and feelings.  Intervention 1: Dr. Banks will outline the process of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Intervention 2: Karen will commit to attending group behavioral skills training and individual psychotherapy. Intervention 3: Karen will participate in imaginal exposure to trauma, until the memories no longer cause marked distressed.  For additional information regarding Karen’s case history and the outcome of the treatment interventions, please see Dr. Bank’s session notes under Case 15 in Gorenstein and Comer’s (2015), Case Studies in Abnormal Psychology.

Family In Crisis – My Nursing Experts

When a person is in a crisis situation, his/her behavior has a direct effect on family members. Many times, family is drawn into the crisis and has to find a way to help the person in crisis while at the same time make sure that they themselves do not become part of the problem. Conduct research and determine ways that a family can effectively deal with a family member in crisis. Be sure to address the following questions:

Are there things that a family member can do to help the person in crisis?
Should the family seek professional help, and if so, what type of help?
Should the family themselves participate in a group setting with the family member in crisis?
What are some of the side effects that can cause issues for family members trying to help?
