Artists have written poetry, memoirs, and fiction about their wartime experiences. A powerful anthology of writing about Afghanistan and Iraq is Operation Homecoming, edited by Andrew Carroll. In it there are emails, short stories, brief nonfiction, and poems written by troops and their families. A documentary of the same name was also made. 1.After watching the clips, reading some of the excerpts from the book Operation Homecoming, and following some of the other given links, discuss the commonalities you find in these responses to war and in those you have read in other works over the semester. Despite the passage of time, are writers concerned with essentially the same subjects, or are artists responding to Iraq and Afghanistan facing unique issues?
