Note:  The content of the video contains powerful imagery related to recent wars and contemporary soldiers. Step Two: After watching the video and making your notes

  1. Write one paragraph about the CONTEXT of the work.  Include a brief description of Valdez’s background, his relationship to the military, and how the person featured in his main artwork is related to Valdez. Describe the purpose and function of the artwork of Vincent Valdez that is featured in the video.  Who does it serve, why is he making it, who is the primary subject of the work? 
  2. In a second paragraph describe in detail the main artwork featured in the video. In your description, include the MEDIA, general STYLE, SUBJECT, three VISUAL ELEMENTS, and the dominant PRINCIPLE OF DESIGN. Remember, this post is due by no later than 11:45 PM on Monday.

For your second post summarize your thoughts and opinions about Valdez’s Excerpts for John exhibition and his work in general. What is the purpose or function of this body of work?  What message or meaning did you get out of the video.  How does the work relate to your life? What do you think the video say about the world we live in today?

In manufacturing operations, chemicals and fuels are used on a constant basis. Some manufacturing facilities have an on-site petroleum fueling station to fuel up the facility’s transport vehicles. Fueling tanker trucks fill the above-ground tanks (ASTs) storing the fuel. There is a potential for a large release of fuel onto the ground during this loading operation. There could be several causes for this fuel release: faulty connections, over-filling, pipe rupture, etc.

Consider that there is a large release of fuel (about 100 gallons) to the ground during an AST filling operation. What initial action needs to be taken with regard to the fuel spill? What reporting is required? What conditions trigger reporting in such cases? What steps should be taken to study the fuel release? What are the important parameters to be determined about the fuel release such that remediation can be implemented effectively? (Note, for this assignment, we are not proposing nor performing the actual remediation. We are collecting appropriate information so that remediation can be designed and performed.).

Your response should be in APA format including a title page and a reference page. An abstract is not required for this assignment. The body of your paper (not including title or reference page) should be approximately 2-3 pages.
