Assignment Description

Assignment Details

The Alset Corporation wants to begin marketing electric vehicles (EVs) to customers in the nation of Climatonia. Because the company is brand new, models and options are very limited. The user can only select from one of three types of models, and the only available option is an extra charging cable. Your job is to write a program in Java that will allow employees to see the configurations that are currently available for purchase.

Alset EVs come in three types:

Type 1

: Rear wheel drive, small battery pack (short range)

Type 2

: Rear wheel drive, medium battery pack (medium range)

Type 3

: All wheel drive, large battery pack (long range)

All cars feature four doors and come with a charging cable. Type 1 vehicles are painted green and have no other options. Type 2 vehicles are painted blue and have GPS navigation. Type 3 vehicles are painted red, have GPS navigation, and also have a sunroof.

After meeting with the client, the design team determined the following custom class requirements for this program:

A class called Alset with the following:

  • A property called numDoors (integer) with a value of 4
  • A property called chargeCable (integer) with a value of 1
  • A property called paintColor (String) with a value of Green
  • A property called freeCharge (String) with a value of No
  • A method called displayInfo() that prints each of these properties on screen like this example: “Number of doors: 4”

A class called Type1 with the following:

  • Inherits from Alset class
  • This model does not have any additional features

A class called Type2 with the following:

  • Inherits from Alset class
  • An integer property called gpsNav with a value of Yes
  • A method that overrides displayInfo(), adding a line to report the gpsNav property

A class called Type3 with the following:

  • Inherits from Alset class
  • An integer property called gpsNav with a value of Yes
  • An integer property called sunroof with a value of Yes
  • A method that overrides displayInfo(), adding lines to report the gpsNav and sunroof properties

When the program runs, present the user with a simple explanation of the program (one sentence), followed by a menu that asks them to enter 1 for Type 1, 2 for Type 2, or 3 for Type 3. Use the Scanner class to process input and use IF/ELSE statements to handle their choice. Once the choice has been made, instantiate a member of the appropriate class, set the correct paint color (if type 2 or 3), then execute the displayInfo() method to display the properties of the vehicle on screen. Once the information has been displayed, the program should end.

Write code comments in both the project class and each of the custom classes to document your program. In your custom classes, use JavaDoc comments to document the features of the class.

NOTE:

The paint color may not be set within the Type2 or Type3 classes.

NOTE:

This program must be submitted as a NetBeans project in a ZIP. Separate files or code are not acceptable.

Understanding an income statement

Please follow the directions below. The Dehew Health System is attached below.

Instructions

Assessment #1:  Understanding an Income Statement

You are an intern in a health care organization business office. The calculations can be done for FY 2018 or 2019. Make sure to identify the year you used.  Use the Dehew Health System income statement in the attachment, please develop a 4-6 page paper responding to the following questions regarding the income statement:

1. What is an income statement used for?

2. What are the key components of an income statement?

3. On your example of an income statement, is the organization making a profit or loss? How much is that profit or loss? Show the calculations. (Total Revenues – Total Expenses = Net Profit/Loss)

4. On your example of an income statement, what is the “total contribution margin”? Show the calculations.  (Net Sales – Total Variable Costs=Total Contribution Margin).

5. What three financial indicators does a contribution margin help determine? How?

6. What is a break-even analysis? What is the break-even point for this organization? List expenses assigned as variable and fixed. Show the calculations.  (Total revenues – Total VC – Total FC= Profit)

7. How does a break-even analysis vary between fee-for-service and capitated payments? Explain it using the income statement you chose. What are the similarities and differences applicable to the Income statements in fee-for-service and capitated payment options?

The paper should not be more than 6 pages and should follow APA format, spelling and grammar. Include a cover page and reference page (not included in the page count). Make sure to properly cite and reference all the used sources. The calculations need to be shown as formulas using figures. Follow the mathematical rules while calculating numbers.

Acknowledgment: The Income Statement for the Dehew Health System was developed and contributed to HMGT 322 by Professor Rob Parker.

Note:

Total Contribution Margin= Net Sales-Total Variable CostNet Sales in our case= Net PT Revenue + Premium Revenue (recognized insurance revenue)  Then Total Variable Cost is comprised of Supply expenses, postage/courier services, repair/maintenance, travel/seminars, equipment rentals (not lease), and ed. supplies TCM is straightforward. Break-even point: Total Revenue-Total Variable Cost -Total Fixed Cost (the rest of expenses+ deductions from revenue) Technically, the break-even point will be Total Revenue-(Total Operating Expenses + Deductions from Gross PT Revenue)Total Revenue =Gross PT Revenue+ Premium Revenue+ Other Revenue The statement has Units of Service listed on the bottom. However, it is not possible to calculate Total Revenue by a regular formula of Units*Unit Price as the price is PT specific.

Assignment Details

Create a Java application called “RateCalculator.” In this application, create a custom class named “Calculator.” In the Calculator class, create a method called “Multiply” which accepts two incoming integer variables. Within the Multiply method, create an integer variable to store the total, then calculate the total based on the two incoming variables. Return the total.

In the project class, within the main() method, declare integer variables named “firstNum” and “secondNum” and set their initial values to any number between 1 and 9. Create an additional integer variable called “output.” Then write code to declare a member of the Calculator class called “myCalc” and then utilize myCalc to call the Multiply method to calculate the result of firstNum times secondNum. Store the result in “output”, and present the result on screen.

Within the Calculator class, create methods similar to Multiply called “Add”, “Subtract”, and “Divide.” Create appropriate logic within these methods, and display their use in the main method of the project class. (These methods will not be utilized when the program runs, but the code must be present.)

Write appropriate in-line comments in both the project class and the Calculator class to explain each line of code in your program.

Summary

:

  • Create an application called “RateCalculator”
  • Create a custom class with the name and features listed above
  • Create methods within the Calculator class to perform the calculations
  • Write code in the Calculator class (in the main() method) to execute the methods from the Calculator class

Your deliverable for this assignment is the NetBeans project you created using the steps above (ZIP the whole folder that contains the project).

Note:

There is no user input in this program. The values that will be calculated are the values that you state when you declare “firstNum” and “secondNum”.
