Phsycology

As you study human life-span development, you will learn about all the factors that affect people throughout their life. These factors include physical, social, and environmental influences. While we understand how many of these factors affect a developing child and continue their influence into adulthood, our knowledge is still developing. The same factors may affect two different people in very different ways, and many variables come into play. Research also gives us new insights; for example, as we learn more about genetics, we get more answers on the nature versus nurture debate. The final project is meant for you to propose a hypothetical study. You are not and should not be conducting human subjects research for this project. It is not necessary for the purposes of this assignment. All human subjects research requires written approval from the SNHU COCE Institutional Review Board in order to protect the welfare and ensure ethical treatment of the subjects. For the final project, you will prepare a research investigation, which includes a literature review and a proposed research design. You will examine research on one of two topics presented in the first three modules of this course (see further information in the prompt below) for how developmental psychology has changed, and you will investigate a potential gap in the research that has not been addressed by the provided articles. This assessment will allow you to foster and improve your skills at reading, interpreting, and writing psychological works. It will also help you to learn your place within the field and how to combine both your personal perspective and opinions with established, empirical research to make original claims. This project is divided into three milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Three, Five, and Six. The final product will be submitted in Module Eight. In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes: • Describe foundational research regarding the human life span by examining the historical evolution of the field of developmental psychology • Determine appropriate research designs used in developmental psychology for application in the study of aspects of the human life span • Examine issues of ethics in foundational research in developmental psychology for informing appropriate conclusions • Interpret claims made by foundational research in developmental psychology for conveying appropriate conclusions that are supported by peer reviewed evidence • Develop basic research questions supported by peer-reviewed evidence by identifying gaps in the research of developmental psychology

Prompt For your final project, you will conduct an investigation of the foundational research in developmental psychology using the provided Literature Worksheet and Research Design Worksheet. You will choose one of two tracks of provided articles to conduct your literature review and develop your research design.  You will analyze the research presented in the course for how knowledge around the human life span has changed over time, as well as how researchers have approached the study of the human life span. You will also consider the issues of ethics that are or are not addressed in the research. Following your review of the research, you will identify a gap and develop a research question designed to further explore that gap. This will include how the research supports your research question and how you would approach addressing your research question.

tha101 los angeles 1992 script

there are two assignments.

One is I have posted the Dramatists’ Play Service version of the Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 script on the COURSE DOCUMENTS tab on blackboard, so you can access it if you need it to answer these questions:

Before our discussion class for the piece, please think about Anna Deveare Smith’s acting choices, and how they affected your understanding of the character.

Please addresses ONE of the following two prompts in a paragraph of about 200 words

1. The play achieves its social message through a contrast of presenting various points of view about the uprising/riots. Looking back through the actual script I posted, or remembering the film, can you find specific pairs of characters whose points of view contrast with one another? Please describe how these characters’ perspectives on the riots contrast (you may juxtapose as many pairs as you like, but the important thing is to be specific and explain HOW they contrast, as thoroughly and specifically as you can), and then try to explain where the author’s own viewpoint lies, in relation to these characters. What is HER point of view? What is she trying to tell her audience? Does she seem to sympathize with some characters more than others? How so? How can you tell?

2. What is the effect of having one person play all of these characters? In the DRAMATISTS’ PLAY SERVICE version of the script that I posted on blackboard, Smith makes suggestions about how this play could be performed by a cast of six actors. Do you think this would make the piece more effective, or less? What is powerful theatrically (in terms of the play’s social message) about one person doing all of these roles? What would be lost by having more than one person perform the show? What would be gained? Use specific examples from the play to bolster your argument if you choose to respond to this prompt.

another one is:

You may expand your written response to TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES, 1992 to a short essay of about 600 words. (You must complete the original response to my prompt about these video-recordings first, in order to qualify for this extra credit option.) This essay should thoughtfully incorporate a short quotation from at least ONE of the essays in the “What is (element of theater)?” (performance, theater, acting, audience, design, or directing) section of the course. For example, you could integrate a quotation from Auslander’s “Liveness” essay, and discuss how Deveare Smith integrates video recordings from a past event into her theater piece, which makes it more of a “multimedia” performance (this would contradict the argument that it is truly “poor theater.”) Another example: you could discuss Fifth of July in terms of its acting, direction, or the various visually-designed production elements including set, costume, lighting, etc. (For example: the play moves from inside to outdoors between the two acts: how does this setting change impact the story? how does the setting impact the theme or message of the play? how do Shirley’s costumes impact the theme of the play? etc.) Please upload the essay in MS Word or PDF form only, and be sure that your essay includes a SHORT quotation from one of the secondary readings that is artfully integrated into your discussion.

Canadian history.

Imagine that a high school teacher has decided to invite you, as an intelligent historian, to give a talk to her students on an issue of importance in Canadian history. Your assignment is to write about 2000 words, aimed at grade 12 students based on Greenpeace. Greenpeace is an international organization, but it was founded in Vancouver. Explain the group’s origins, early campaigns, and its evolution into an international organization. What would you tell the students? Important: this is a twist on a standard essay. It is an essay in the sense that it should: build from careful reading and intelligent analysis; have an argument; use evidence and information, gathered through careful reading, to illustrate key claims and arguments; be written in full sentences and proper paragraphs; use proper referencing (Chicago-style footnotes). It is not a standard essay in that you are not writing it for a professor or TA. It is a public talk, aimed at high school students, so you will need to think about your assignment a bit differently than you would for a straight-up research essay. Aim your talk at a group of Grade 12 students. How does the potential audience affect your tone, your approach, etc.? How much background information do you have to provide? How can you make the topic engaging without losing complexity, nuance, and detail? You should write the talk as though you will read it to the students. By this we mean: write the text you would use in the actual talk. Don’t tell us what you might say –write what you would actually say.
