Much like yourselves, the world has seen and read a million different versions of every play Shakespeare ever wrote. So much so, that every decade or so a story comes out about a “new” Shakespeare play having been found, only to quickly be discarded as a fake. With everyone knowing these plays so well, it is often up to directors to find a new way to think about the plays to bring a fresh perspective. (Update: Looks like I didn’t update this question either but I’m going to preserve the spirit of the question with a different play! While A Doll’s House isn’t written by Shakespeare it is also another often performed play which suffers the same fate. How can you change the staging without changing the script to make the production “new” or “fresh”?)
How can you make A Doll’s House feel fresh? Think of a way you could stage the play in a way which would add a new perspective and explain the intention.
Some things to consider:
What is the new idea?
What is the intent behind the idea?
How will you use the existing text in your view production?

Why did Shakespeare choose to use a Chorus in the first place? How might a modern production utilize the Chorus? Be detailed and give examples from the play.
