The purpose of this discussion is to apply pathophysiological concepts to a child presenting with dermatological dysfunction (urticaria). Related concepts will also be applied that includes alterations in immunity/inflammation, fluid and electrolytes, acid/base balance and pulmonary function.

Requirements:

 

A 12-year-old boy is brought to the office for evaluation of hives. He has no significant past medical history and no history of allergies. He has just joined the middle school soccer team and noticed that he gets hives about 10 minutes into practice. The hives are itchy and consist of irregular blotches on his legs and trunk, about 10–20 cm in size, and they persist for about 30 minutes. He does not experience swelling of the lips or oropharynx and denies any wheezing or shortness of breath. His physical examination is normal without skin lesions or oral swelling at that moment, and his lungs are clear. After evaluation, he is diagnosed with urticaria.

Crystal (a Hispanic student) who is a sophomore in your class asks if she can speak with you after school. She reports to you that in her social studies class they were having a class discussion about immigration policy, and several students made disparaging remarks about people from Central America who were trying to immigrate into the country. Crystal’s family immigrated into the country only 4 years ago and she knows of families who are currently trying to immigrate as well. She says that the teacher laughed as some students offered stereotypes about people of Hispanic origin. Crystal points out that she hears these types of comments in the halls, but this time it was happening in the classroom and she felt both uncomfortable and embarrassed. Step 2: Reflection Part

Instructions

As the Project Manager, your manager has asked you to prepare a report on unplanned events that have occurred. You have been asked to present this report to a group of managers, and should discuss your course of action for two unplanned events (below) that have occurred for SuperPacks. You will need to analyze the impact of these events in your project management report as a presentation; this can be PowerPoint, Prezi, or any presentation tool.
