Reflection/Autobiographical Paper: Reflection is a valuable endeavor that will help you relate academic concepts to the experiential and service-learning components of this capstone course. Thus, you are responsible for writing a short reflection paper in which you reflect on yourself, why you are pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice and what you aspire to do with it. In your paper, you should: • Share details about yourself and your life experiences to date which have impacted your decision to pursue the path you are focusing on. • Reiterate your first choice of job or type of job after graduation. This is also a process of elimination – share some career paths you have eliminated as possible paths for you and why. • Indicate why you are qualified and suited for that job (i.e. – in the context of concisely explaining to a prospective employer why they should hire you). • Explain where you intend to be in five years and what your longer-term plans are. • This paper should be written the first person and be at least 3 full pages, 12-point font, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins. Your reflection paper can be more than 3 pages, but anything less will receive a lower grade. The Reflection Paper is due March 28. Special instructions: (these are some things about me to include in the paper) Minorities wrongfully convicted have impacted my decision to pursue the path I am focusing on. The first choice of a job after graduation is to “investigate felony trial cases.” Career paths eliminated as possible paths are counseling and social work. Those are eliminated because my passion is in criminal justice. I can make more money in CJ. In five years, I intend to own my own investigation practice and become licensed to investigate cases in other states. Also be able to hire others to work under me.

You have a warrant for your arrest for burglary: The police arrive at your home

You have a warrant for your arrest for burglary: The police arrive at your home to arrest you but they search the entire home and find more evidence related to other burglaries. Did they have a right to search your entire home? What case may support your defense and what doctrine and amendment applies here. You have been involved as a accessory in a brutal homicide. The police arrive at the scene and ask you details as to “what happened here.” They are unaware that you were involved but you confess before your Miranda rights were read. What case may or may not protect you because your Miranda rights were not read. Explain when Miranda rights are required and when officers can initiate an arrest without Miranda rights being read. You have been just stopped by the police, they asked you to search your car, you said “yes” to the search -they discovered a bag of marijuana. Under what doctrine might this be admissible and what case supports the charge of possession. Explain the case and the doctrine and how it relates to this scenario.

Examine the Affordable Care Act provisions from the government website and from

Examine the Affordable Care Act provisions from the government website and from the Kaiser.edu website in the readings. Watch the Films on Demand choices for the week. Pick one of the provisions for the Accountable Care Act. (Provisions include the elimination of health plan caps; elimination of the pre-existing illness clause to access health plan coverage, the ability to cover young adults up to the age of 26 on a parental health plan, reducing health care fraud, etc. There are many choices!) Design a fact sheet or brochure of at least one page that discusses the need for this specific provision and how this provision now helps people seeking health care services. See the Supplemental Resources for examples of fact sheets and possible templates to use for your own assignment. Feel free to use a brochure template, color, and clip art with your fact sheet. Be sure to include the actual provision. Discuss why the provision was needed. Determine what effect this provision has had on individuals and on health care organizations. Create this fact sheet/brochure for an audience that is just starting to understand the ACA. You are trying to create an educational fact sheet that will provide the information needed for this audience.
