You will compose a letter or an online petition to send to local, state, and/or national representatives in support of a particular policy or approach. Through this assignment you will sharpen your sociological imagination and, by applying it, you will put into practice sociology’s principle that the personal is political.
You will write a letter individually to a state or local representative (US Senator, US Representative, Governor, County Commissioner, City Mayor, etc.) or create an online petition (for change.org, for example) to advocate for your viewpoint on the issue. You must describe the issue briefly. You must also take a position on the issue, supporting your position by referencing some form of data or research. This could involve supporting a specific policy change or increasing or decreasing funding for a particular program. Your letter or online petition must be grammatically correct and proofread. Your letter must include the name and address of a state or local representative.

Dear writer feels free to choose an individual letter or online petition. I copied the grading rubric in order how my institution would like this assignment. I wish you good luck.

Before you start developing a research question, you first select an appropriate topic for scientific investigation. Selecting a problem will take creativity; you may consider searching social work concepts of human behavior or possibly personal experience or expertise. For example, if you are interested in exploring intimate partner violence you may want to explore if there are programs that are effective at decreasing violence or preventing violence.
For this Discussion, you discuss the importance of refining a research problem, and then you identify a population, intervention, and outcome you would like to explore for this course.

Please answer the following question in a full page (250-275 words) response that is double-spaced. Red Cliff
A Chinese co-production of several Asian countries and the USA, the epic battle film Red Cliff is impressive, in terms of its scope, striking cinematography, and display of Chinese historical, philosophical, and artistic elements. However, director John Woo said that only half of what happens in the film is true, and the other half is fictionalized to appeal to modern audiences. What, in your opinion, are the most striking qualities of this US $80 million dollar production? In addition, what to you seems to be clearly fictionalized, verses that which is likely true? Please give specific examples.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
According to Kenneth Chan in his article, “The Global Return of the Wu Xia Pian (Chinese Sword-Fighting Movie): Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” Ang Lee has stated that his film was “a dream of China,” and Klein says that it has been sited for its “lack of authenticity,” by cultural purists. In your opinion, can Lee’s Wu Xia Pian film that reimagines China be viewed as a feminist film? Why or why not? If so, which scene exemplifies this notion?
