Rhetorical message
Your goal is to pay attention to their use of words, portrayal of the situation, images that are significant, and/or
themes, that give you sense of what the two movie snippets have in common. What is the rhetorical message
you could tell me is central to both of the videos and why it is meaningful. This is an exercise to get your skills
in identifying rhetorical appeal (use of image or phrasing) to present a clear idea. I suggest you try to follow this
basic guideline in putting together your paper.
First, take time to understand how a text “works.”
What are the main points of the communication?

Consider organizational patterns. Do they follow an order to their message? Do they (movie figure(s)) use
imagery with it? Why?

Next, identify rhetorical appeals.
Ethos: How the figure demonstrates credibility and builds trust
Pathos: How the individual creates an emotional response.
Logos: How does the individual demonstrates expertise and knowledge.
