Organizations that employ the use of volunteers don’t just have a raft of individuals show up at an event and then delegate where each volunteer should serve.  Much like a pastor prepares a sermon, organizers of volunteers must choose how to best deploy their helpers.  Deployment may be topical, textual, or expository.
Topical: Will volunteers be grouped and trained on a specific topic?  Will the leaders be required to give them an overall knowledge of the event and suggestions regarding how to pull together volunteers with related talents to support a particular area?
Textual: Will each volunteer have a single duty? Will, they will be trained on the main points and expected to develop whatever minor points are needed during the event to serve their constituents?
Expository: Will volunteers have more than one duty in which the theme and main points of the event must be found through deep interaction and engagement?
Read Chapters 9-10 in the textbook by McKee & McKee – “The New Breed”
Write a 3-4 page paper describing an actual or pseudo-event and presenting a plan to deploy volunteers that best meets the organization’s needs. And ensure the following points are addressed. Your organization, its mission, and goals for having the event.
Activities, programs, times, dates, and number of volunteers. Specific training and deployment of volunteers.
Provide at least two academic sources to support your writing.
Scholarly academic resources using APA format.

For your writing assignment this week, describe three potential behaviors that you would like to change, by either increasing or decreasing the behavior. You may choose a behavior of your own to change (such as I need to study more every week) or you may choose to modify a behavior of one of your children (I want my son to spend less time playing video games each week).  You may choose a child as you are in charge of rearing that child and spend a major portion of each day with the child.  You may not choose to modify a behavior of an adult other than yourself so that we do not break any ethical guidelines.  In your writing, discuss why you feel the behavior is a problem that needs to be changed.  At the end of your assignment, rank the behaviors in order of the one you most want changed to least changed.  Your professor will discuss if the chosen behavior will work for this assignment or if you need to choose one of your other options.
1. I need to stop procrastinating.
2. I wont my son to do better about going to the potty.
3. I would like to change the fact that I react out of anger instead of being humble.
