Good Afternoon Everyone,
Transportation is potentially the most import part of supply chain and it can add value to the overall movement of material. The movement of materials from the source to production or manufacturing to distribution centers and ultimately to the end user is the basic flow of products for a company. The ability to move products faster at a lower cost enables a company to have a competitive edge. If 2 organizations both provide the same quality for a product, but 1 company delivers the material faster and at a lower cost to the customer they are more likely to have better sales than their competition. Another benefit that transportation adds to the supply chain is the ability to create optimal movement efficiency within the organization. The ability to ensure that movements from different locations doesn’t create or add to internal delays is critical. Also the ability to transport a greater amount of material enables production and sales to increase due to the overall increase in volume moved.
An example of this often occurs in military supply operations and the movement of high priority cargo. If a helicopter located in the United States territory of Guam needs a new rotor and the product is built in California, the ability to use military aircraft dedicated to the movement of materials provides the ability to receive the required part as quickly as possible. Since it is always best practice to not waste space, the aircraft can be loaded up with other high priority materials that can be delivered to Guam or at a stop in route. That dedicated aircraft has the ability to add significant value as a part of the transportation in the supply chain of the helicopter rotor.
Transportation can also decrease value in the supply chain just as easily. Continuous monitoring and verification that the most effective and efficient method is being used. The building of a new bridge on a particular route could save time and money by shortening a trip. The inability to move the required volume of materials can easily create a backlog in the supply chain.
As advancement in technology continues at a rapid pace what new inventions, such as drones, do you think will eventually make some of the current forms of transportation inefficient in the future?

PT I.
As seen in this week’s lesson, transportation is absolutely critical within the supply chain process. Transportation should be seen as one of the primary components encompassing supply chain management as it adds tremendous value. It would be extremely difficult for a supply chain to maintain its effectiveness without various modes of transportation; specifically supply chains that encompass global routes. Ensuring that the correct mode of transportation is selected is essential to supply chain operations. For example, the benefits that cargo ships provide versus air transportation are vastly different in both cost, speed and efficiency. Cargo ships allow for large amounts of goods to be transported at a relatively low cost while air transportation allows for the fastest delivery time, however, it is limited by the weight it can transport and remains the most costly. Many supply chains use multiple modes of transportation within their supply chain (The Role of Transportation in Supply Chain Management, 2020). For example, as the supply/fiscal officer for my battalion I oversee the procurement and transportation of maintenance parts for the unit’s assets. Since I am stationed oversees many of the parts are shipping from oversees. The mode of transportation is decided based on the part priority; parts with a higher priority are transported via air while parts that are routine and nature are transported via “slow boat” or cargo ship. Once the parts arrive on island, they are transported via truck to my warehouse where they are receipted for and then picked up. From my experience, high priority parts that are shipped via air can arrive to my warehouse in under two weeks while parts shipped via cargo ship typically take anywhere from 2-3 months. All in all, transportation within the supply chain is a dynamic and multifaceted concept; a company must look at their objectives and decide how transportation can best serve them.
PT II.
If you owned a supply chain, how would you decide which factors constitute the use of air vs cargo ship transportation?

Assignment: Evidence-Based Project, Part 2: Advanced Levels of Clinical Inquiry and Systematic Reviews
Your quest to purchase a new car begins with an identification of the factors important to you. As you conduct a search of cars that rate high on those factors, you collect evidence and try to understand the extent of that evidence. A report that suggests a certain make and model of automobile has high mileage is encouraging. But who produced that report? How valid is it? How was the data collected, and what was the sample size?
In this Assignment, you will delve deeper into clinical inquiry by closely examining your PICO(T) question. You also begin to analyze the evidence you have collected.
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry.
Develop a PICO(T) question to address the clinical issue of interest you identified in Module 2 for the Assignment. This PICOT question will remain the same for the entire course.
Use the key words from the PICO(T) question you developed and search at least four different databases in the Walden Library. Identify at least four relevant systematic reviews or other filtered high-level evidence, which includes meta-analyses, critically-appraised topics (evidence syntheses), critically-appraised individual articles (article synopses). The evidence will not necessarily address all the elements of your PICO(T) question, so select the most important concepts to search and find the best evidence available.
Reflect on the process of creating a PICO(T) question and searching for peer-reviewed research.
The Assignment (Evidence-Based Project)
Part 2: Advanced Levels of Clinical Inquiry and Systematic Reviews
Create a 6- to 7-slide PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:
Identify and briefly describe your chosen clinical issue of interest.
Describe how you developed a PICO(T) question focused on your chosen clinical issue of interest.
Identify the four research databases that you used to conduct your search for the peer-reviewed articles you selected.
Provide APA citations of the four relevant peer-reviewed articles at the systematic-reviews level related to your research question. If there are no systematic review level articles or meta-analysis on your topic, then use the highest level of evidence peer reviewed article.
Describe the levels of evidence in each of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected, including an explanation of the strengths of using systematic reviews for clinical research. Be specific and provide examples.

Journal Critique
You will write a journal critique on a article about one psychological disorder of your choice: Schizophrenia (considered the cancer of mental disorders), Anxiety (the most common mental disorder of the United States), Depressive Disorder (Mood disorder), Bipolar (Manic episodes), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (thoughts and actions like handwashing), Personality Disorder (Narcisstic) and Dissocative Identity Disorder (Alters). This should be no more than 3 pages not including the Cover and Reference page The article has to be less than 10 years old. Here are all the parts that should be included in the critique:
Introduction: to educate the reader on the topic/concept):
will define topic, other key terms, symptoms, statistics of occurrence and current information in the field
Main body: to explain the research conducted in the article, will state what you found in the journal article
HYPOTHESIS:
What were the researchers trying to discover (i.e. what was the hypothesis or purpose)?
This is usually found at the beginning of the article.   Usually the hypothesis or statement of a problem appears at the end of the review of the literature, most often in the last or next to last paragraph.  The words that indicate  that it is a hypothesis are, “We will examine. . .” or “Our  hypothesis is . . .”  In a statement of a problem, the researcher may say, “We plan to  see if a relationship…,” “We proposed to observe…,” or  “The problem we proposed to study…”   (You must use your own words—do NOT use quotes).
METHODOLOGY:
How was the research conducted (research design or type of study)?
Is the research descriptive (case study, naturalistic observation, laboratory observations, surveys, tests), correlation, experimental, or developmental? For more information on research methods, refer to chapter 1 of your text.
When and where the research was conducted?
How long did the study take?
Who were the participants? (number [N], age, sex, criteria to be a part of study)?
RESULTS/DISCUSSION:
What did the researchers actually find in relation to their hypothesis/purpose?
ARTICLE MAY STATE: The researchers found that  . . .
What limitations did the researchers reveal?
Summary/conclusion: to show critical thinking in regards to the research)
How does the information in the article integrate with information from class discussion, the text, and/or other information in the discipline?
TIP: It is a good idea to use the subject index in your text to look up the topic in your text.
What is your opinion of the research findings?
EXAMPLE: was this research well done or not and why?
Why is this topic/research important? (relevance/benefits to community and/or society)
EXAMPLE: A conclusion to a study that suggests a new therapy/treatment for children with ADHD might help the child struggling to perform successfully in school, which then improves her confidence, her relationship with her parents, siblings, and classmates. Write about the implications of this new treatment.
In what ways does this topic relate to your own personal experience and how is your experience in agreement or disagreement with the outcome of this study?
How has your opinion of this topic changed since your review of the study?
