What would you do if a client disclosed they are being bullied at school because they are gay? What community resources could you offer? For this Assignment, you develop a resource list of available services and supports for LGBTQ individuals or allies. While this resource list should contain services specifically for LGBTQ populations, also think about what other resources might be needed. For example, research estimates that up to 40% of homeless youth identity as LGBTQ (Durso & Gates, 2012). This suggests the need for housing resources; and while these may be resources available to the general community, you want to provide resources that will be affirming of LGBTQ youth. Have you driven on an interstate that obviously divides a neighborhood in two, cutting off each side from the other? Did you wonder what life was like prior to when the road created a barrier through the middle of an inter-dependent community?
A city is a complex system, with each neighborhood, street, or institution connected to some other part. Choices made to benefit one area or group can affect another in ways both planned and unplanned. In this Discussion, you examine the cause and effect of a change in a city.
Consider this scenario: The city plans to build an interstate that promises a quicker drive for commuters into the business district. However, the newly built six lanes will cut through a low-income neighborhood bordering the business district. In addition to blocks being razed, only one bridge is planned to connect the two sides of the soon-to-be separated neighborhood.
Post a 250-word response in which you compare how choices related to urban issues in the “More Lanes” scenario affect the quality of life for the citizens involved.

Your Final Paper will be a synthesis of what you’ve learned in class, and will consist of three interrelated parts.
Drawing from the assigned readings, lectures, Discussion Forums, and your own insights and experiences, reflect on how this course has challenged you to think differently about religion in general and Christianity in particular.
The key here is to BE SPECIFIC: give concrete examples related to the key themes and concepts explored.
Next, articulate the overall framework of your theological convictions by responding to this question: what do I mean when I speak the word “God”? In other words, critically reflect on what you believe about religion, God, and spirituality (i.e., the sacramental life), and just as importantly, why you believe what you do.
Keep in mind that you aren’t being asked to give a faith-statement. Rather, you’re being asked to identify and critically examine your theological beliefs. So, if you understand God in terms of being the “Creator,” that’s great, but then you’d need to explain what it means to say God is “Creator” (or whatever).
Finally, discuss the implications of all this for the way you understand and embody the vocation of “healer.” Pay special attention to Berry’s discussion about health and his critique of the medical industry. Make it clear how your responses to the three talking points are connected.
Something to keep in mind as you develop your answer to this talking point: the Berry reading brings the class full-circle, sharing key themes with the West video as well as our working definition of “religion” (Lecture: “Key Concepts”).
