What would you do if a client disclosed they are being bullied at school because they are gay? What community resources could you offer? For this Assignment, you develop a resource list of available services and supports for LGBTQ individuals or allies. While this resource list should contain services specifically for LGBTQ populations, also think about what other resources might be needed. For example, research estimates that up to 40% of homeless youth identity as LGBTQ (Durso & Gates, 2012). This suggests the need for housing resources; and while these may be resources available to the general community, you want to provide resources that will be affirming of LGBTQ youth. What are ways you can tell if an agency is a safe space?

Have you driven on an interstate that obviously divides a neighborhood in two, cutting off each side from the other? Did you wonder what life was like prior to when the road created a barrier through the middle of an inter-dependent community?
A city is a complex system, with each neighborhood, street, or institution connected to some other part. Choices made to benefit one area or group can affect another in ways both planned and unplanned. In this Discussion, you examine the cause and effect of a change in a city.
Consider this scenario: The city plans to build an interstate that promises a quicker drive for commuters into the business district. However, the newly built six lanes will cut through a low-income neighborhood bordering the business district. In addition to blocks being razed, only one bridge is planned to connect the two sides of the soon-to-be separated neighborhood.
Post a 250-word response in which you compare how choices related to urban issues in the “More Lanes” scenario affect the quality of life for the citizens involved.

Your Final Paper will be a synthesis of what you’ve learned in class, and will c

Your Final Paper will be a synthesis of what you’ve learned in class, and will consist of three interrelated parts.
Drawing from the assigned readings, lectures, Discussion Forums, and your own insights and experiences, reflect on how this course has challenged you to think differently about religion in general and Christianity in particular.
The key here is to BE SPECIFIC: give concrete examples related to the key themes and concepts explored.
Next, articulate the overall framework of your theological convictions by responding to this question: what do I mean when I speak the word “God”? In other words, critically reflect on what you believe about religion, God, and spirituality (i.e., the sacramental life), and just as importantly, why you believe what you do.
Keep in mind that you aren’t being asked to give a faith-statement. Rather, you’re being asked to identify and critically examine your theological beliefs. So, if you understand God in terms of being the “Creator,” that’s great, but then you’d need to explain what it means to say God is “Creator” (or whatever).
Finally, discuss the implications of all this for the way you understand and embody the vocation of “healer.” Pay special attention to Berry’s discussion about health and his critique of the medical industry. Make it clear how your responses to the three talking points are connected.
Something to keep in mind as you develop your answer to this talking point: the Berry reading brings the class full-circle, sharing key themes with the West video as well as our working definition of “religion” (Lecture: “Key Concepts”).
The Final Paper must be:
5-6 pages in length (no more, no less)
Aligned left
Double-spaced
12 pt. font, Times New Roman
As always, files need to be uploaded in a .doc or .docx format.
I will provide examples of prior essays from this course you can use as reference for ideas and citations. (Barry article spoken about in discussion forum is the art of the common place “health is membership article”)
Please try to use 2-3 citations per page
You may use the citations from my old writings if it fits.

One analogy for writing your dissertation or capstone project is that you will bring together data in order to create a narrative to answer the research questions. After analyzing and interpreting the data, this narrative will draw a conclusion. The actual process is more complex, as you have seen, but the synthesis of all you learn is a vital component.
When it comes to your doctoral identity, telling that story also involves the synthesis of what you have learned about yourself.
In this Assignment, you bring together various elements from this course related to your doctoral and scholarly identity in a synthesis paper.
To Prepare
*Review your Personal SWOT from Week 2.
*Review your scores from the leadership self-assessment in Week 4.
*Review your findings from the time management self-assessment in Week 4.
Assignment
Write a 5-page paper that includes the sections listed below. These sections provide a narrative interpretation of the data you collected through your SWOT analysis, leadership self-assessment, and time management self-assessment.
***Identify Your “Why”: In 4–5 sentences, explain why you are pursuing a doctoral degree in social work.
***Personal Analyses Results: Briefly describe the results of your SWOT analysis, time management self-assessment, and leadership self-assessment. Apply your SWOT analysis, time management self-assessment, and leadership self-assessment to your “why.”
***Goals: As a transition into your role as a scholar-practitioner, formulate 3 goals you plan to accomplish as a result of (or in conjunction with) completion of your social work doctoral degree. What will you commit to doing? Be sure to apply the findings from your SWOT analysis, leadership self-assessment, and time management self-assessment.
***Strengths and Challenges: Describe at least three personal or professional strengths that will aid you in achieving your goals and at least three challenges that might prevent you from reaching your goals. Be sure to apply the findings from your SWOT analysis, leadership self-assessment, and time management self-assessment.
**Self-Assessment for Overcoming Challenges: Assess how prepared you are to overcome challenges, describing any strategies you have developed or resources you may draw on to help you achieve your goals. Describe how you will use the tools you have identified to hold yourself accountable to your plan and monitor your progress and how often you will review your progress. What strategies will you put in place to manage risks and or obstacles?
***Conclusion: Explain how earning your social work doctoral degree can create opportunities for you, as a change agent, to devise solutions to complex social problems and to effect positive social change in the world, the social work profession, and/or your community.
***References: Provide references in APA format for any source material used.
