This week you are exploring what it means to have privilege in all aspects of li

This week you are exploring what it means to have privilege in all aspects of life, whether it be that you are able to enroll in school and take this course, or that you are able to walk, type, see, taste, or purchase/have access to groceries. Having privilege also means that you have power of some sort. Even having access to goods and services can be seen as a privilege. Discrimination can accompany power and privilege as those who have power and privilege may not be consciously aware of how they benefit from it.
Instructions:
First, Chapter 4 of The Ecology of Diversity (Kahn, 2015) has a “Reflections on Diversity” section near the end entitled, “Membership in Dominant and Subordinate Groups.” Follow the instructions provided in the chapter and complete the chart considering who are you are and what relationships you have with each type of group.
Second, write at least three paragraphs (300 words) addressing the following questions:
How has privilege, in any/all forms, shaped your life? Consider race, socioeconomic status, education, and other associations identified in Week 1.
Have you been aware of the privileges in your life as you were growing up? Why or why not?
As you learn more about privilege, and as you examine your life, what do you find most interesting or surprising?
How has privilege shaped your life opportunities, life chances, experiences, etc.?
Post your discussion by Day 3 of the week. Before beginning, carefully review the Writing Center’s guide Writing a Discussion Board Post (Links to an external site.).
Initial Post Checklist:
Did you use scholarly resources to support your work?
Did you discuss each area in the instruction and Grading Rubric?
Did you use APA?

Case study on Hot Topic in Public Health Ethics What are the ethical implication

Case study on Hot Topic in Public Health Ethics
What are the ethical implications of this case study?
What are the ethical implications of alternative courses of action?
What should we do in this situation and how can we justify that decision?
Before you begin your discussion this week prepare by reading the information posted in reading assignments for Discussion Board 7. You will respond to Steps 1 and 2 of the 3-Step process by Wednesday and respond to Step 3 by Friday.
Step 1: Analyze the Ethical Dimensions of the Public Health Issue and Context
During the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals in the criminal justice system are at increased risk of contracting COVID-19. Following CDC guidelines, such as social distancing and hand washing is challenging in these confined spaces. The Sheriff’s department who is responsible for ensuring safety and welfare of the inmates at the local county jail has contacted your team at the local health department for guidance.
As jails are unable to adequately follow CDC guidelines, should offenders be eligible for early release? If yes, what types of offenders? Should any precautions be put in place? Such as self-quarantine or remote monitoring? Should inmates be required to pay bail?
Individuals in the local county jail have tested positive for COVID-19. Several prisoners have been granted parole. Should these individuals that may have been exposed to COVID-19 be released into the community, or should they be retained? Why or why not?
The healthcare costs (financial burden) of inmates at the local county jail is on the county government. How does this impact your decision to release individuals.
Step 2: Formulate Alternative Courses of Action and Evaluate their Ethical Dimensions
There are 3 choices suggested in this case study:
Shrink the jail population by releasing inmates early regardless of their ability to pay bail
Release inmates only if they can pay bail
Retain inmates in lockup because they may be infected and could spread COVID-19 to the community
What are the ethical implications of these options?
Step 3: Provide Justification for a Particular Public Health Decision
For this step, your discussion team will communicate and decide together the answers to these questions. One team member should make a final post on behalf of the team to share your team’s decision and justification.
Which course of action will your team choose?
What is the justification for your decision? (Which ethical principles take priority and why?)

You are to pick a public health issue and policy of your choice and discuss why

You are to pick a public health issue and policy of your choice and discuss why that issue is important and the background pertaining to the topic. You will then relate the topic to the current health care system and how the system either helps to create additional issues regarding this health topic or helps to address the health topic overall. You can then make recommendations on changes to the current health care system that would help to address the topic that you have chosen. The project will include a paper (the actual policy brief) as well as a PowerPoint presentation to be submitted via Canvas. Guidelines for the project will be posted on Canvas.

Annotated Bibliography: An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to book

Annotated Bibliography: An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.
Creating an annotated bibliography calls for the application of a variety of intellectual skills: concise exposition, succinct analysis, and informed library research.
First, locate and record citations to books, periodicals, and documents that may contain useful information and ideas on your topic. Briefly examine and review the actual items. Then choose those works that provide a variety of perspectives on your topic.
Cite the book, article, or document using the appropriate style.
Write a concise annotation that summarizes the central theme and scope of the book or article. Include one or more sentences that (a) evaluate the authority or background of the author, (b) comment on the intended audience, (c) compare or contrast this work with another you have cited, or (d) explain how this work illuminates your bibliography topic. You will complete an annotated bibliography on the sources that you used to complete your alternative CE project. Please include at least 5 sources. (This will take the place of the timesheet for those students doing Option B of the cumulative experience.)
