Assembling California By John McPhee

Write a well-written review of the book you chose, approximately two to three pages long, double-spaced. Begin by summarizing the main ideas of the book. This should not be a blow-by-blow summary of the book but a big-picture overview. Then write about what was new to you, what you found surprising, and most helpful. Conclude with your analysis and opinion on the book and its ideas. Finally, after your paper concludes, please share your three to five favorite quotes from the book.

My teacher really didn’t say specifics on how to write this Literature Review. I had to ask her a few questions and these are the only notes I got. We are supposed to use these four sources for our introduction review: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5818287/
https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/hpnvv0812.pdf
http://pricetheory.uchicago.edu/levitt/Papers/LevittTheChangingRelationship1999.pdf
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1517758015000363
The introduction should provide the overall goal of the research, along with a literature review of the peer-reviewed journal articles related to the topic of the analysis with APA citations. Our research question is “Do lower income neighborhoods have higher crime than higher income neighborhoods?” The introduction paper should include: summarizing, compare and contrast articles, the background of why we do the study, detailed paragraph for each source, how do the articles fit together. This is also what the rubric looks like for what my teacher is going to grade on: “Literature Review/Background Theory: a) Relevant previous work thoroughly reviewed b) Gap in knowledge/exploration identified c) Succinct d) References are cited appropriately.”
