essay, let the great world spin

Essay #2
Choose one of the following:

1.

Let The Great World Spin contains a lot of powerful imagery. What do you feel is the “point” of this novel? Specifically, what does it have to say to us today? Using specific images and language from the novel, develop an argument that makes a case for the novel being a representation of something specific and profound about America.

2.

The role of women in the works we’ve covered is significant. Select four female characters from any of the works and, using specific, close readings of the material, compose an argument for what the actions, words, treatment of (how others treat the women and what the women can/can’t do about it) these women has to teach us about how things have been, are now, and should be for women in the world. You should tie in specific examples of “real-world” situations that help to make your point. That is, you should always seek to relate the fictional with the real. As you do so, you must be specific. Do close readings of textual evidence from both the literary works and the concrete (specific as opposed to general) “text” of the real-world.

Hamlet Synthesis

This is a synthesis paper, something that I am not super great at, so make sure that it doesn’t sound like it is coming from someone who is very skilled at synthesizing, but more so someone who has very creative and insightful thoughts and questions when looking at text and connecting it.

I’ll be attaching a pdf with the specific requirements from the teacher as to what the essay needs to include. There will be one part in the requirements where it say 3 English 4 sources and I will attach all 3 in the same doc so that they can be used for reference. He wants to see a connection between all three sources, one of them being Hamlet.

Effective Communication with Diverse Audiences

Select and watch a movie that depicts difficult or different methods of communication between individuals with a disability or with other special needs.  An example of this would be the 2003 movie Radio with Cuba Gooding Jr. There are many ways to view this movie on Netflix, HBO, Amazon, etc.
First, provide a short summary of the movie, and include the background on the main characters. As discussed in the previous module, utilize person-first language to describe individuals from specialized populations (example: “child with autism,” rather than “autistic child”).
Discuss the communication difficulties or barriers between the individuals in the movie. What misunderstandings or obstacles did you observe that prevented clear communication between the characters?
Lastly, apply this information directly to healthcare. Why does communication often breakdown between healthcare providers, and patients with special needs? What circumstances from the movie could also be applied to healthcare provider and patients?
Some other movie suggestions are:
Rainman: When car dealer Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise) learns that his estranged father has died, he returns home to Cincinnati, where he discovers that he has an older brother with autism named Raymond (Dustin Hoffman)  The brothers’ cross-country trip ends up changing both their lives.    The Intouchables:  After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caregiver.
As Good as It Gets:  A single mother/waitress, a author with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and a gay artist form an unlikely friendship after the artist is assaulted in a robbery.    I Am Sam:  A man with a developmental disability fights for custody of his 7-year-old daughter, and in the process teaches his cold hearted lawyer the value of love and family.
Your assignment should be around 500 words, and you can submit it as a Microsoft Word document (file upload) or type directly into the assignment (text entry).

Training Plan

Using the ADDIE model, design a training plan based on the findings and training outcomes revealed in your TNA. The training plan should include the following, at a minimum:

Analysis

The Analysis section is a summary of your TNA ( assignments 1 and 2).

Include a paragraph describing the organization and training issue.

Discuss organizational and training goals and objectives, the target group, and the KSAs that should be expected of learners, which the training will address.

Design

Determine program format, length of training, and method of delivery.

What will be the costs, and what resources will be needed from the organization? A training plan budget is important because an organization needs to anticipate, plan and pay for the training costs. In the section, you will develop a spending plan that breaks down the costs of your proposed training plan. Consider the following cost categories for your budget table and report: Direct Costs, Indirect Costs, Preparation Costs, Developmental Costs, Participant compensation, Evaluation costs, Total Training Costs. Your budget will have two components, a formal report and a budget table.

Prepare a table with a proposal for your training.

Prepare a written budget report  Describe in detail each the costs associated for your organization training needs as it applies to your training plan. Explain all of the costs included in your budget table.

Development

Describe what will be included in the program materials and activities. Consider communication tools, modules, learning aids, and assessment/evaluation tools.

Implementation

Give specifics on how you will implement and deliver training. Include any “train-the-trainer” pilots and plans for training.

Evaluation

In this section, you will develop a post-training evaluation plan. Evaluation is necessary for determining the overall effectiveness of a training program. Your evaluation plan should aim to measure learner performance. Evaluation will describe the success of the training program and lead to a plan for continuous improvement. You plan should include both a written report and the evaluation tool you would use for assessment.

Prepare an evaluation report Describe in detail how you will evaluate this training in terms of effectiveness. Explain how training will be assessed and evaluated. Describe the purpose of the evaluation tool. Address how overall training will be evaluated. List short- and long-term methods that ensure your training plan has translated into desired performance. Explain how it will bridge the organizational gaps identified in the TNA.

Include at least one evaluation tool together with your written evaluation plan. The tool should look professional and ready for your intended audience to complete.

Make sure you have an introduction and summary to your report.
