Unit II Project

Instructions
Cookie Business
In this project, you will be opening your own specialty cookie company to see how product costing methods and changes in production affect business decisions. You will be creating a series of reports and analyzing the results using the template provided to guide you through the project.

The learning objectives of this project are as follows:

Gain an understanding of product costing (direct materials, direct labor, and overhead).
Review job order costing.
Review process costing.
Make business decisions based on analyzing accounting data.
You will prepare a four- to five-page written report (including spreadsheets) with at least three scholarly sources using the Unit II Project Template. Your report will provide the following information:

Introduction
Part 1: Establish a cookie business selling only one type of specialty cookie with two employees making the cookies.

Create a name and establish a location for the business.
Construct a mission statement for the business.
Decide on the type of cookie you want to make and sell.
Part 2: Develop costing and sales information for 1,000 cookies.

Estimate and explain the cost per cookie based on job order costing (manufacturing overhead is 30% of direct labor costs). Prepare a job order cost sheet by researching and identifying the top five ingredients and their estimated costs as your direct materials. Research and identify the cost of wages for your two employees as your direct labor. It typically takes two days to make 1,000 cookies.
Estimate and explain the cost per cookie based on process costing with 40% conversion costs. Identify the top three processes you feel are needed to make the cookies and prepare a production cost sheet for one of those processes.
Estimate and explain the sales price you plan to set per cookie based on the cost data.
Part 3: Compare and contrast the costing methods used in this project, including which you believe provides the most useful information as a manager.

Part 4: Discuss what will happen to revenue if the number of the cookies sold increases or decreases.

Conclusion and Recommendations
Use the Unit II Cookie Project Spreadsheet Templates for your job order, and process costing spreadsheets to be embedded in your case study document.

Constitutional, Sectoral, Conflicts

***Turabian (Author-Date) Style
the final essays will require students to conduct research of both web-based and peer reviewed journals to support the essay responses. There are three essay questions
and students will have to use our textbooks as well as other external
sources as part of the assignment. Researching key ideas is helpful for
students to familiarize themselves with web-based sources and peer reviewed
journals that address public service ethics topics.

use articles from scholarly journals and websites to research assigned topics. These resources should supplement course readings and should also be utilized in framing responses to the essay questions.Scholarly articles are published in academic journals and they are peer reviewed. Full citations and references will be given for them, in correct Turabian parenthetic citation and reference list format.

Please write essays on the three topics shown below.

Each essay will:

Be 1-2 single-space pages in length, not including quotations, lists, citations, or references.
Correctly use Turabian author/date parenthetic citation and reference list style to cite sources.
Avoid plagiarism (see Course Overview).
Have a heading that identifies the topic.
Include a title page.

Similar to last week, for the week 9 reflection, you will develop an activity for a 4-year-old who is stuck inside due to COVID-19. The activity should help support the child’s cognitive development, specifically their executive functioning skills. You will use the Washington State Guidelines and the Building the Brain’s Air Traffic Control System article as evidence to explain the benefits of your activity.

First:
Imagine you have a 4-year-old who has been stuck in the house for weeks.

Second:
Review the Building the Brain’s Air Traffic Control System article and pages 78-80 of the WA State Guidelines  (Ages 4 and 5, Learning About My World).

Third:
Think of an activity you could do indoors, or socially distanced outdoors, with this child that fosters cognitive development — specifically, executive functioning. Feel free to use games or activities you enjoyed as a child. You can get creative!

Fourth:
Write a reflection that addresses the following prompts.

Describe your activity in detail. You can add pictures to illustrate your description, if you like.
Explain how your activity supports the cognitive development of the child. Use evidence from pages 78-80 of the WA State Guidelines (Ages 4 and 5, Learning About My World) to support your thinking. For example, you might say something like, “The WA State Guidelines say to ‘Engage your child in cooking’ (p. 79). This supports my idea of baking cookies with the 4 -year-old because…” Be specific in making connections between the bullet points in the Guidelines and your activity.
Explain how your activity encourages executive functioning by as defined by the Building the Brain’s Air Traffic Control System article (you should quote the article). In what ways does your activity support improvement in working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility?
Your response should:
Your response should be at least a page long (without pictures). Please do not go over 5 pages.
Use quotes from the reading as evidence to support your thinking when asked to do so.
Describe ideas in your own words when asked to do so.
