Abortion Wrong or Right?

Use the topic questions and the scoring rubric to see if your draft responds fully to all parts of the question. A complete, thoughtful answer is more important than word count.

What is the conservative argument against abortion? What is the liberal argument for a woman’s right to an abortion? Why is personhood such an important concept in the abortion debate? Which view do you find most plausible and why?

Applying Findings or Lessons Learned in Other Contexts

part 1,
This discussion will focus on professional discourse about your personal experiences and observations about how to transfer knowledge and findings between different care contexts or care settings.
For example, how have you gone about transferring your understanding of a successful outcome from a population health research study into treating a single patient with a similar issue? Or, perhaps you have had to use a strategy learned in an acute care setting to working with a patient who needed in-home care.

Part 2: Describe an experience where you have had to apply a strategy, finding, or a lesson learned from one care context or setting to your work in another (or describe a time you have observed, or had a discussion about, this being done).
What challenges did this type of transfer present?
How did transferring the knowledge between contexts result in an improved or more efficient resolution to the care issue you were trying to address?
What ethical considerations, if any, were there for transferring the previous strategy, finding, or a lesson learned to a new context?

Persuasion(Health Predict App)

As a co-founder of your company, one of your most important roles is salesperson, regardless of your title within the company.  In order to make a customer sale, raise capital, recruit a key team member, etc., you will have to convince your target that your venture is worth their while.
Your final individual assignment is to persuade someone to support your effort. You pick the target: recruit, investor, customer, etc. (make sure your intended audience is clearly identified or is obvious by the nature of your response).  Make an argument to convince your target.  Be sure to support your case with things you’ve learned from working on your team project, for example, solving customer pain, equity to early hires, or return for investors.  The format or medium is up to you.  A few examples include a recorded sales pitch or commercial that you upload to YouTube, an investor pitch deck, a sample Kickstarter video, a job offer letter for a new recruit, a Prezi, a cartoon, or a 1-2 page typed paper…  Here’s an example of a creative submission from a previous semester: https://youtu.be/eNrq9-sk6Nk
Use your imagination and make it compelling.  Be creative and captivate your audience.  Holding their attention is half the battle.  It doesn’t need to be long or elaborate, just convincing.  Do what you think best supports your case, and choose a medium in which you’re confident.  Take some risks.  You have license to be creative and have fun with this!

Find a media article about a scientific study on a topic related to the Cretaceous Mass Extinction material. To find articles, you can use a Google search for keywords from the class material, and then select the “news” search button below the search bar. Your article should be different than the ones used in this class. If you aren’t sure whether the article is related to class topics, feel free to ask me.

Once you have found an article that you like, write a summary discussing these four points:

The main finding of the scientific study and the evidence the scientists used to answer their question.
Two pieces of evidence covered in class that relate to the study, and why they support or disagree with the conclusions.
Your assessment of the reliability of the source, supported by at least two reasons.
Your assessment of whether the scientific conclusions seem widely accepted or controversial, or whether there isn’t enough evidence to tell.
Your summary must include the link to the article, so I can read the source that you are summarizing. The summary should be written in your own words, rephrasing the ideas from the article rather than including direct quotations.
