This is less of a quiz and more a one page response paper/reflection essay. Listen to the
Radiolab episode ‘The Cataclysm Sentence.’ In it, a group of scientists try and decide what
sentence they would pass on to the next generation if everything was about to be destroyed and
you had to decide what was important to communicate in a single sentence.
Now, this podcast primarily revolves around the natural sciences, and this is a social science
class so we have some more flexibility in deciding what ‘knowledge’ to pass on. It can be your
own words, or someone else’s if they resonate with you. Just make sure you explain your choice
in a couple sentences- why it is important to you, and why you think it is important to pass on to
the next generation/society.
Lastly- did this class (the things discussed, readings/podcasts assigned, lectures and group work)
influence your answer at all or your evaluation of what is important in society, particularly when
rebuilding a new world out of the history of the old one and it’s conflicts.
