For this final you will develop a short questionnaire (open ended questions) to ask someone you know (any age above 8). The focus of your questions should be on a specific topic pertaining to gender (e.g., relationships, identity, preferences, marriage, health, sexuality, anything you’d like as long as it is about gender). Develop a set of questions (at least 5, at most 10) to ask the person on the topic you chose pertaining to gender. Write down or record what they say. After interviewin9g the person, you will write a paper applying 2 readings from class to the interview. The interview can be conducted on anyone you know, including your family members and friends, and can be done via phone or other method you feel comfortable with. There is not fixed amount of time the interview has to last. Your aim with this assignment is to learn something about your topic from the person you interview and relate it to the readings. Please structure your paper in the following way. First Paragraph: Introduce the topic pertaining to gender you interviewed the person on. Elaborate on what it is, and why it is important. (5pts) Second Paragraph: Briefly describe the person you interviewed. Feel free to give the person a fake name, so as not to disclose confidential information. Where is the person from? What is their gender, race/ethnicity, background, etc? (5pts) Third and Fourth paragraphs: Link what you learned from your interviewee about your topic to 2 different readings from class, one reading per paragraph. That is, in what way is what you heard from your interview align with or differ from the reading? How does your interview expand on what the readings discuss. (10pts) Fifth Paragraph: Describe anything you found surprising in your interview. Here you should also discuss any limitations of your interview (e.g., what questions did you wish you asked but didn’t that could have informed your topic more?) (5pts) Sixth paragraph: Conclude your paper. (5pts)

We have read a number of bildungsroman (coming of age) novels this semester. Though Anne is lighter in tone, how does her story compare to Jane Eyre’s? In your answer, consider literary elements such as characterization, plot, and themes.
Directions: Your total response should be approximately 1-2 pages (approx. 300-600 words). More is always fine. Less is not.
Remember that journal entries are like practice for your paper later on.
Begin with a thesis regarding the theme
Make sure you include several quotes from the text to support your answer. Make sure you introduce and cite the quote properly. Ex. Charlotte says, “Will the voice of approbation no more meet my ear? and shall I never again possess a friend, whose face will wear a smile of joy whenever I approach? Alas!” (Rowson 52).
